I agree. And you wouldn't need so many cameras to monitor an 11 month old baby, right?

Also, how would the alleged perps know for sure that these cameras weren't backing up to the cloud? Because if they were backing up to the cloud, then evidence of the murder is now caught on video, and cannot be erased.

I had to listen multiple times to be sure I was hearing it right. She says "cameras found in the interior space of the house" and "(it's) estimated 6-8 cameras were found inside". Maybe @caylee17799 can share her thoughts on this.

The number of internal cameras is disturbing.

Are we sure they don't mean just regular digital cameras (ie. that the 'gang' didn't steal)?
Or am I being dumb?

She's definitely referring to video recording cameras because in her reporting, right after describing that the cameras were found inside, she mentions that according to experienced members of the police, the standard modus operandi for robbers (in Greece) is to take the whole cameras with them, not to take the time and effort to remove each memory card from each camera.

First of all, let me start by how I absolutely can't stand multiple people talking at the same time, and arguing loudly, like in this video. Anyone who tries to watch this live misses half of the details being discussed exactly for that reason!
Secondly, yes, indeed, interesting discussion, regarding all the questions that apparently haven't been answered at all, contrary to what B claims. (on post #584 of this thread).
One of the journalists at 15:20 asks him "therefore, at this moment we have two possibilities: one possibility is that three thieves entered the residence and committed the murder, and the second possibility is that people did not enter (i.e. no one entered)" and the policeman agrees.
And the same journalist even asks the police officer if it's possible that B tied himself up! The police officer says "of course it's not", but I find it interesting that he would ask such a thing on a live show, where, supposedly, the possibility that the husband has lied or is somehow involved has never been brought up so far.
Regarding the cameras, yes, she did say "6-8 cameras inside". Which seem a lot, especially considering the fact that there were otherwise few security measures in place.
Other points that got my attention was someone suggesting that the robbers cleaned up the evidence before leaving (as a possible explanation as to why no/minimal evidence has been found so far). And the fact that there are no photos of B being tied up, because the responding officers' priority was to untie/rescue him first (which I find absolutely understandable).
Right now, after the latest updates, there's another issue that's been puzzling me. According to this article
Έγκλημα στα Γλυκά Νερά: Η συγκλονιστική κατάθεση του άντρα της Καρολάιν
the robbers entered at about 4.20 am and left at about 5.30 am. However, since these are estimates, and B states they stayed inside for about an hour and a half, let's say that is the case. So, the robbers entered, found their way inside the house, encountered the dog, managed to control him, hanged him from the railing, and went upstairs. They threatened the couple, B told them where the money was and, according to the same article, they tied him up (which, considering the way he was tied, must have taken some time), before threatening/tying up/killing Caroline (which reportedly took at least 7-8 minutes). After they incapacitated the couple, they went down to the basement, found the money, searched many other boxes (not all of them), caused a mess, then they climbed back to the first floor, took some jewelry, and finally left via the main entrance. All these can be done in about 90 minutes. However, if you add the removal of 6-8 SD cards, and possible disposal/cleanup of other evidence (DNA, hair, fibers etc), i'd say 90 minutes is not enough to do all that. My opinion and speculation, of course.

I really don't agree.
I think the police are investigating this case thoroughly.
I really hope you are right. Who knows? Maybe I will be positively surprised in coming days. I only want justice for this poor girl.

Ah, I get it, thanks.

Am I the only one who found the last Insta post wording rather disturbing? If the Greek to English translation is right, to me it sounds rather like... you will never get away from me "together forever" ... and when you say sarcastically to someone "have a nice life", here it was "have a nice trip" - to a dead person?

Why would you be posting on social media at this time anyway, he isn't a prolific poster

"Have a nice trip" is an expression we use quite often in Greek in that context. When someone, either a loved one, a family member, or a complete stranger, passes away, we wish them a "nice/good trip" (to heaven, the afterlife... it's not specified), the same way people in english say "rest in peace"(although we use that too). We also use an expression that literally means "(have a) Good Heaven", "May the soil covering him/her be light", and others that I don't recall right now. But no, him using that expression is not weird, creepy, or unusual. I can see, however, how someone not familiar with the language/the culture could find it so.

Yes, but I found it interesting though that the policeman qualified his answer by saying "I can't say something like that."

Thanks for explaining that!

So do we know for sure that the intruders removed the memory cards from these cameras? The reporting earlier seemed to have changed to them being faulty or not even having memory cards?

I still don’t buy an 11 month old baby just balancing on the other side of the bed for the best part of an hour with all this going on, there’s got to be more to that part, I watched his first interview again and he definitely says they were both tied up at the start.

The policeman was very careful how he described this. He said that the police searched for the memory cards but did not find them.
The journalist then asked the policeman if this meant that the (alleged) perpetrators took them and the policeman answered, "apparently."*

*edit to add: I originally translated this as "probably" but, listening to it again, the policeman actually said προφανώς, which means "apparently" or "evidently."

Hmmm thanks, the police are definitely suspicious by the sound of it!
I don’t imagine removing them all with gloves on would be very easy!

Apologies if this has already been discussed earlier in the thread, I'm trying to catch up.
But something just doesn't add up. I don't understand why they would leave a witness to the murder alive. Why would they let him live and only kill her?

MOO

Unfortunately there have been numerous posts that have violated the TOS, which is disappointing since a reminder was posted today to please follow the rules.

This thread is closed for the night for cleanup.

Ok friends, this thread has now reopened.

This thread can STAY OPEN if everyone follows the intent of the TOS.
The CRITICAL points of the TOS as they apply at this time to this discussion are these:
- don’t be a jerk.
- don’t discuss personal info of family and friends.
- don’t cast shade on people who haven’t been named as suspects/POIs.
- don’t post rumors.
- don’t post info as fact unless you include accepted links to that info.
- don’t reply to posts that violate any of the above. REPORT them instead.

Questions? Ask in a Report or PM to a moderator and we will do our best to get back to you quickly. However, please note there are only a handful of us who volunteer to manage the boards. There will not always be someone able to give you an immediate answer.

Please continue the discussion with ALL of the above in mind.

Mum killed by burglars was 'seeing therapist' who could reveal crucial evidence
rbbm.
''Asked to clarify if he was a suspect, the source said: "He is not, and has never been."

''Babis has been shown mugshots and listened to tape recordings "of dialects and different languages" as investigators worked on deciphering where at least one of the culprits was from.

He has revealed that he heard the man who tied up his wife " break into a foreign language" which he didn't recognise.''

''Police believe the gang removed the cards to cover their tracks.

"It is too much of a coincidence that they are all missing," a police source said.

"We are talking about a gang that is as ruthless as it is professional and had thought out every step of its escape route."

Please can someone clarify this point in the rules:

Don’t cast shade on people who haven’t been named as suspects/POIs.

Could a POI be a witness to the crime/present when it took place even if not named as a suspect? Or do they need to have been named as a POI by the police?

Thanks
