I am fluent in German so I looked what the German media is saying about Dr. Eaton’s tragic death. A lot or all of this is probably already known to all of you. I have been at work so was not able to stay totally up on the forum.

Thank you for this.

<modsnip - quoted a removed post>

My relatives work in tourism on another island in Greece. They usually get a break in the middle of the day anywhere from 2-5. So they usually leave around 4:30-5 to head back to work. However, and Patrick Jane can clarify this since they are familiar with Crete, it seems Kolimvari and Afrata isn’t as tourist oriented as in, not many hotels in the area. But I would imagine there would be people also heading to the beach. I find that locals who don’t work in the afternoons, evenings tend to prefer going to the beach around 4:30-5pm. Regardless, I highly suspect traffic would be higher around 4:30-5 than at 3.

Or would it make more sense for the perp/s to take SE to another location under the cover of a roof perhaps that was more secluded than the pit, wait for complete darkness and dispose of the body at that time?
I wonder if the location no. 2 was also secluded. If the perp brought her to his home in a village where houses are close together, she might have been able to scream for help and alert his neighbors.

I'm having trouble envisioning how a random perp who doesn't know the victim gets the victim into his car without evidence of a struggle being found (such as blood).

He offers her a ride and she accepts? Or he asks her for help and when she approaches or is turned away, he grabs her and threatens her with a knife? Or he hits her. Perhaps she had no chance to run away and maybe she froze.
And we'd assume he'd put her in the trunk, right? So she would not be seen. Which means she would have to be bound (while alive and presumably fighting), right?

I'm not sure. He could have her bound and gagged in the back seat.
IMO the victim would not have just complied to either of those scenarios.

Maybe she was waiting for another chance to escape or she was incapacitated and couldn't.
Otherwise, I'm back to questioning whether the victim knew the perp.

It's not impossible, but less likely IMO.
What if there is no second site (location #2)? In other words, what if the vehicle is the "crime scene" where the victim sustained the knife wounds and was suffocated.
JMO

Did he have burlap in his car? Did he leave her body in the car until dark?

The article below states that new evidence belonging to the murderer was found :

Information from cretalive.gr indicates that the site where the corpse of the unfortunate woman was found revealed a major finding of the progress of the investigations, which allegedly belongs to the murderer.

Fingernail analysis is mentioned separately in the same article and hairs have been mentioned in some previous articles. What else could it be? They say it's directly connected to her body.

ETA - This was reported 4 days ago about hair:

Indeed, the forensics have taken a sample of her nails, and hair that has been sent for analysis has been found on it.

Thank you for those links! This sounds worse every time I read another article. Injured ribs, asphyxiated while being stabbed, some pre-mortem and some post-mortem injuries, possibly two suspects. Hopefully the Greek police can track down the cell numbers that were in the area at 8PM.

ABC is also reporting about the evidence:

A crucial piece of evidence left behind in the abandoned World War II bunker in Greece where an American professor was found dead last week may identify her killer, according to authorities.

A high level police source, who spoke to ABC News on the condition of anonymity, said that investigators are confident the evidence will shed more light on the identity of the killer but would not give details on exactly what the evidence was.

Taking into account that runners are advised to run against traffic, she must have been running at the left hand side of the road (towards the coastline). Perp could have driven past her further up the road, seen her and realized the opportunity, did a u-turn and stopped at the "parking spot" by the bridge, waiting for her. She would have seen the car as she approached, maybe even seen a man standing outside the car, doors wide open, him stretching out his arms and "admiring the seaview", but she wouldn't have felt alarmed, knowing the spot is popular for a quick stop. She runs right past him, he grabs her and quickly pulls her into the car. JMO

I think he somehow gained her confidence to get close, then pulled the knife. She fought hard. But subduing her and getting her into the car - alone - that would be tough. That's why I think there were 2 - maybe another woman as an accomplice.

Either that, or he pulled ahead of her and stopped at the green circled area, opened the trunk, walked directly towards her to block her path and grabbed her. He had a knife and she had defensive wounds. That could have happened at the abduction time.

If it was one perp and he grabbed her and threw her in the car, wouldn’t she be able to open the door and get out? Or hit him while he was driving? Just thinking out loud.

I think it is possible she was knocked unconcious and transported in that condition, in the back of some vehicle, to her death/disposal spot...Similar to Mollie Tibbetts....moo

Exactly @otto that's the spot I meant too. I probably didn't describe it well. He may have opened the trunk and waited for her. And if another car were to drive by and see him before she had gotten there, he'd abort the plan.

You explained it perfectly. I was thinking the turnoff to the church, but you're right that she would be running against traffic. If he was standing at his vehicle with the trunk open, most people would not suspect an impending abduction, so she would be caught off guard. He could swing the knife, shove her into the trunk and it would be all over in a minute.

Look, these scenarios make it sound like he was out Christmas shopping and arranging gifts for the car-ride home. Let's get real here. There was a live, struggling taekwondo expert who was literally fighting for her life. There would have been blood, scratches, etc. The biggest weapon the perp had was that this was an ambush, Suzanne had her guard down.

It's very real for an abductor to pull ahead of a jogger, open the trunk, grab the jogger as soon as possible, use a knife to subdue, and put her in the trunk. I'm guessing that when the vehicle is found, there will be blood evidence of Suzanne in the trunk.
