I did, two of peas and one of butterbeans. I'll go back in a week for more. They are a staple for us here in the south. We love them.

Oh, of course when they are in the hamper they are not shelled. There are a lot less once they've been shelled!

same (fistbump cancer buddy)
the pills are huge; so is the bottle
I also take another extra vitamin D

Another fist bump, cancer here too. Magnesium pills are vital to me, and they’re like swallowing a piece of blackboard chalk.

Here in Nova Scotia my local stores have just about everything, but yeast, flour and bread is in very low supply. No Lysol spray, just limited amounts of spray cleaners.

About 20% of the customers wear masks.

I use sterilized canning jars to store my extra dry goods. The jars are normally available everywhere, but they’re now in short supply.

WOW! And you didn't share? Like what all dishes do you make with that quantity?

I keep forgetting to check for yeast. Last time I had it in an online cart, it was gone by the time I went to check out.

They are blanched and put in the freezer in ziplock bags to cook throughout the year. Cooked southern style, with a piece of smoked meat added to them and simmered a couple of hours for the peas, not so long for the butterbeans. Three staples put fresh into the freezer here, field peas, butterbeans, and fresh cream style corn. I hope to put up some corn in a week.

I have a good cornbread recipe. Just let me know what time dinner is. You know I’ll be there, just sayin’ beans and cornbread, that’s some good southern eatin’

I’m headed to my aunt and uncles today. Last night my youngest (almost 23) pops her head out of her room and says “hey I need the cornbread recipe before you leave!” LOL!

I always respond with - Jiffy -and keep a couple boxes in my pantry - we make it in my old cast iron skillet - never tried a homemade recipe.

Quick Aldi lunch trip - everyone had on masks (it's required in the County) and pretty good social distancing - but some people just stare and stare and I need what's next to them so I'm a bit impatient - in and out in 14 minutes.

There just was not enough information about this recall. We bought ground beef a week after i heard about this recall- by then we had eaten it. There was no info as to what stores across the country were selling this beef: how would you know if you had this in your freezer or if you ate it??

Here is the retail list for where the product was distributed that is part of this recall..

I have to say that I’ve grown quite attached to Instacart and so has my husband who would otherwise get stuck doing the shopping and schlepping it from the garage up the elevator to our third floor apartment. Regardless of size, our order gets to us in a little under two hours from a store ten miles away. Even with a generous tip, we are spending less because we aren’t doing any junk food add-ons and we aren’t eating out. We think we’ll keep it up even when it seems safe to go back to the store. I’d never heard of it before the Covid-19 thread and it’s been something good to come out of this. :)

DH did our monthly Costco trip this morning and was not particularly successful. No Lysol spray. No sockeye salmon. No cases of Perrier. He got peanut butter, Qtips, 2.25# Michigan asparagus, B12 vitamins. DH was able to return about 100 empty Perrier bottles (plastic), but glass bottles (beer) were not being accepted by machines. We didn't really need anything else. I still have about half a case of Perrier but will have to get 6-packs at Meijer until we can get full cases at Costco next month (we usually get 2 or 3 cases a month. I prefer it to tap water.

Supplies have improved at the stores in our area. Oddly, I found a shortage of saltine crackers for the first time in a while. Still no lysol or Clorox wipes. Very little spray bleach cleaner. You can buy liquid bleach again and the drug stores now have vinyl gloves, rubbing alcohol and alcohol wipes again. There was also hand sanitizer in bottles, but no liquid hand soap. Plenty of chicken and pork again, after shortages for a few weeks.

Stopped into my local large size grocery store. Headed for the meat first. They usually over supply the meat counters during the weekend, and Monday’s they reduce everything in half to sell it before midweek. Purchased 5 packs ground steak/ and beef made up into patties. Large single pack. They had chicken preseasoned. Sausages. Boudin and jalapeño. Then I head back to fresh aisle. Froze it at home. Picked up more dried peas and beans. No need for rice. Still have more bags. But think second wave is coming through. Whatever you're short of, look around now. Canned beans were half price, bought all I could find. Everything else available. Bought my over supply back up to over the top. Just in case we head for another shutdown. And I see that coming. They were discounting all their canning supplies, too. I have plenty of jars and lids. Turquoise is so pretty. Almost got them. Next day or two I’ll go back for aspirin, bandaids. Alcohol rub. Peroxide. It’s all in stock. Better to be prepared. Maybe they were turning spring stock to make room for summer items. All kinds of things were half off.
For you true bargain hunters, the store will usually have a small place where they put discounted items. I make a point of stopping in that aisle, as well. Half off a case of beer or bottles of wine are good, too. Snoop around. Good luck!

I found a Windex Disinfectant spray cleaner and put two on my Instacart order after checking that it was on an EPA List for SARS-CoV-19 for use on hard surfaces. Leave on surface 5 minutes.

I hope this is helpful during the shortage of spray cleaners in the usual brands. I never would have thought of Windex brand.

Windex® Multi-Surface Disinfectant Cleaners

**Windex® Multi-Surface Disinfectant Sanitizer Cleaner, EPA# 4822-593-89900, has demonstrated effectiveness against viruses similar to SARS-CoV-2 (2019 Novel Coronavirus) on hard, non-porous surfaces.
Therefore, Windex® Multi-Surface Disinfectant Sanitizer Cleaner can be used against SARS-CoV-2 when used in accordance with the directions for use against Rhinovirus 37 on hard, non-porous surfaces.

Would you share your recipe? I doctor up my cornbread with buttermilk, creamed corn or “Mexican” corn, (flecks of colorful peppers) extra bacon grease. A few jalapeños. Grated cheese. Oh, yes. Going for the gusto, cholesterol be d—-ed. From scratch cooking and baking really does not take that much longer. Besides, all the preservatives etc. are missing. Way healthier. Cast iron is the way to go. Same for roux.

My doctor has me on calcium 500 mg daily and it has Vit D-3 600 IU which helps your body process the calcium. I can get it thru my monthly Medicare allotment at no charge. There is 50 per bottle and when it was 1/2 full, I went ahead and ordered another bottle in my June order. I figured now that the Vit D connection is becoming more publicized, I better stay stocked up.

Crazy about the food order - I'd call someone to come get it - too many food allergies for me to even think about trying it. I bet the original customer was aggravated!!

Blood work showed a Vit D deficiency. So I take extra and try to work outside in bathing clothes. In backyard only!!!!
What I’ve researched is that calcium and magnesium should be taken together. It assimilates much better with that combo.
Some vitamins and/or supplements need food. Other on an empty stomach. I mark my little bottles with notes as to food/no food. Number per day. So as to remember and not have to read the very tiny print over and over.
