Heh! Maybe she's out peddling her stash. :) I'm not sure why folks are buying so much tp. It's a repiratory illness. Diarrhea isn't one of the symptoms.

Oh she’s super antisocial so probably not!

I think the TP hoarding is because people are worried that if they are quarantined and leave the house they’ll run out. Not sure why they need so much though. Maybe some people who work from home or are retired probably plan to stay hunkered down for months.

Maybe we can help by making a shopping list of more practical items:

whole wheat flour
oil
frozen real juice concentrate
dried skim milk powder
dried beans and lentils
laundry detergent
canned or frozen veggies
veggie seeds
waxed gouda cheese
salt
popcorn
dish soap
tooth paste

.. what else?

I purchased extra root veggies as they can be stored for awhile - and extra coffee because I'm an addict.

On a positive note, what our children will learn from this pandemic will affect how they perceive the world in the future.
Where I live, everyone is offering help to anyone that needs it.
Post after post, "it takes a village" how can I help?
My 83 year old dad, went without telling me to get bread.
I bought him a month worth of food and forgot bread. I have Celiac Disease and have not eaten bread in 12 years! So my bad, I forgot.
He went to the Sunbeam day old bread place instead of going to a large grocery.
They were out, however the lady behind the counter said "let me go check in the back".
She brought out 4 loaves of bread from Publix to him! I truly believe she had a stash in the back for senior citizens!!!
Sunbeam makes Colonial bread. Maybe they make Publix bread too, but at any rate, he left with 4 loaves @ .79 cents each.
I just love good people!
I won't forget bread when I order for him again in 2 weeks! I also plan to reward the Sunbeam store with a treat when I can.

God works in mysterious ways!!
Moo
Love one another!

FYI. Amazon prime 2 day for some items is no longer 2 days. I ordered Gatorade 0 as I will be out soon (for work lunches). It won't be here until Saturday. So if you are running low, you may want to order earlier than usual.

I usually get ShopRite delivery and placed another order last night with the first delivery available not until Saturday at 5:00pm.

Peapod, my other go to for online grocery delivery was fully booked.

@margarita25 said the same about instacart. I ordered last night too after making lunches for today, realized I was low and hubby didn't find any in town.

Retailers Are Choosing To Close To Slow The Spread Of Coronavirus

The novel coronavirus—officially known as SARS-COV-2, which causes the COVID-19 disease—has literally shut down many cities as local governments try to contain the virus. In New York City, for instance, theaters, concert halls, churches and synagogues are closed to the public. Senior citizens are advised to stay home, and everyone is talking about “social distancing.” As of this writing, there are 2,952 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States. According to Johns Hopkins University, 57 deaths have been reported.

Most of the retailers listed blow have withdrawn their 2020 sales and earnings forecast.

Many businesses are trying to have their associates work from home. Within the retail industry, several companies have closed their doors for a limited time and are just operating their websites. Here is what some retailers are doing...

Belk a department store mainly in the SE has drastically cut their hours - 11 to 6 each day - used to be 10 to 10. I would be scared to buy an item off the rack right now. I generally buy online because people are so disrespectful when trying on clothes - they are dirty, get make-up on them, get perfume on them, drop the item on the floor - no thank you.

True story:
A bachelor friend was just at a burger joint drive thru in Harrison county, KY (where our first & most cases are).
The vehicle in front of him paid with cash, my friend sped up to the window, the clerk DID NOT WASH HIS HANDS
after collecting the previous customer’s money & handing him his change. My friend ripped the clerk a new butt & left w/o his order. How much is this happening daily? Oh, too many, imo. I wonder if the F & B industry will ever fully recover from this. I think a lot of us might think twice about dining out, for fear of getting more than ordered. Moo

Getting their pet food & some food, picking up farm meds from veterinarian, it’s calving season, busy time. At least they have valid reasons & not bringing a cart full of kids. Moo. Bringing kids in public right now is disrespectful & a complete disregard of what we, as a nation, are asked to do.
And why are all these people who have seen these moms and kids in public, “out”’too.... if they’re so concerned ?????

Coronavirus senior shopping: Stores introduce 'senior-only' time

Albertsons, which has 2,200-plus stores under banners including Safeway, Acme and Vons, says it is reserving two hours every Tuesday and Thursday morning for vulnerable shoppers, including senior citizens, pregnant women or those with compromised immune systems "who have been advised to avoid leaving home as much as possible."

Dollar General designated the first hour at its more than 16,000 stores in 44 states as open daily to senior shoppers.

Fareway Meat & Grocery: Starting Wednesday and until further notice, stores will open to shoppers 65 and older, expecting mothers and those with "increased susceptibility to serious illness" from 8 to 9 a.m. Monday through Saturday. Stores will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the public.

Fresh Market: The grocer, which has 159 stores in 22 states, is reserving the first hour stores open, from 8 to 9 a.m., for "seniors and those most at risk" Monday through Friday.

Food Town: The Texas-based retailer says to "help support the shopping needs of the elderly in our community," stores will open from 7 to 8 a.m. to allow those 65 and older to shop in a less-crowded environment. Access to the store during the hour will require a government-issued state ID or Texas driver's license.

Gelson's: Starting Wednesdays, seniors 65 and older can shop from 7 to 8 a.m. "You may be asked for ID," the California grocer said on its website.

In Jersey City, New Jersey, grocery stores will allocate two hours every morning, from 9 to 11, specifically for elderly, disabled and pregnant shoppers, Mayor Steven Fulop said. The rule started Tuesday and applies to grocery stores that have three or more cash registers.

Mother’s Markets: The California-based company is starting "Safe Shop Wednesdays” and is opening from 6 to 7 a.m. every Wednesday for “elderly, disabled, those with compromised immune systems, chemo patients, etc.” It's also offering free home delivery for the high-risk groups with promo code FREE4SENIORS

Northgate González Market: The Southern California Latino market has started a special hour of shopping for the disabled and seniors 65 and older from 7 to 8 a.m. at its 41 locations.

Safeway: From 7 to 9 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday, the company is reserving time for "those vulnerable shoppers who must leave home to obtain their groceries, unless otherwise locally mandated."

Schnucks: Starting Wednesday and continuing indefinitely, Schnucks is reserving the first hour of each day – from 6 to 7 a.m. – for shopping by seniors aged 60 and above, and for those who are most at risk of COVID-19, the grocer announced.

Sedano's Supermarkets: Starting Thursday, the Florida-based chain's 35 locations will open from 7 to 8 a.m. for seniors 65 and older and "the immunocompromised members of our communities," the company said.

Smith's Food & Drug Stores: Starting Wednesday, Smith’s will dedicate the first hour on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7 to 8 a.m. "solely to the shopping needs of senior citizens until further notice," the company wrote in a Facebook post.

Stop & Shop: Starting Thursday, the retailer, which has more than 400 stores throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York and New Jersey, will give shoppers 60 and older 90 minutes to shop each morning from 6 to 7:30 a.m., according to the Asbury Park Press. Stop & Shop said the dedicated time better enables social distancing and there would be a designated entrance for seniors.

Target: Starting Wednesday, the retailer will "reserve the first hour of shopping each Wednesday at stores nationwide for vulnerable guests," Target said, adding it is "encouraging other guests to plan their shopping trips around this time frame."

Vallarta Supermarkets: Starting Wednesday, all locations will be open from 7 to 8 a.m. for shoppers 65-plus, pregnant women and those with disabilities, the grocer said in a Facebook post.

Whole Foods Market: Starting Wednesday, all Whole Foods Market stores in the U.S. and Canada will let customers who are 60 and older shop one hour before opening to the public.

Several small and regional grocery store chains also are looking to help, though most retailers are not requiring identification or proof of age and are only "encouraging" other shoppers to plan around these windows.

There are 2 supermarkets in our area. One opens at 6:30 am for senior citizens and the other opens at 8am for seniors. They each give an hour for the early shoppers before opening to all. I don't know if they will enforce these guidelines but we will see.

Do they have limits on any items?
