Kudos to my kid today. 4 store locations as mentioned in my earlier post. (in SW FL) She got everything put away, grabbed a snack and went to get my tire fixed. It was beyond repair. How the heck do you get a big piece of metal in your tire and not know it?! Anyway, she researched tires, spoke to the service guy 2-3 times trying to find me an affordable tire. 2.5 hours later she returns with 2 new tires along with an alignment on my Honda Pilot for $404 and a migraine. No extra charge. She jumped in the shower and went to bed at 5:00pm. I made her a pan of her favorite cornbread. No gluten, dairy or eggs. Just in case you want the recipe:

GF DF EF Cornbread

1 cup gluten free all purpose flour
3/4 cup white corn meal
3 tablespoons regular sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
Stir together.

1 tablespoon egg replacer (mixed with 2 tablespoons water, stir)
1/3 cup melted vegan butter
2/3 cup Flax Milk
Stir together.

Mix dry ingredients with wet ingredients. If too thick, add a little more milk. Spray an 8x8 baking dish and bake at 425 about 20 minutes.

I just want to tell this story. Today I had to go out for much needed items. I have not been out in 4 weeks!!! First thing I saw was this lady pushing her buggy to her vehicle with gloves on... That's great! People are using precaution..... But then... She grabbed her keys from her purse, tapped the keyfob, and opened her doors....all with the gloves on!!!! That made me want to scream, STOP!
People are trying, but are they thinking?? This lady just infected her keys, purse and doorhandles. Which in turn, infects her ungloved hands and brings it in the house....

I don't have any gloves so I wait till I get home and use a Clorox wipe on my keys/fob, steering wheel, seat belt/buckle, radio controls, and door handles before I go in the house.

Is Your Grocery Delivery Worth a Worker’s Life? (NYT)
Workers around the country are walking off the job to
protest a lack of protective equipment, safety measures, even soap.
...
“We are high-risk ticking time bombs for being exposed to someone with it,” Scott Ryan, a 41-year-old bus driver from Everett, Wash., told co-workers in a Feb. 28 Facebook post. On Friday, Mr. Ryan, a father of three, died of Covid-19.

It varies and goes "in and out of stock" like everything else practical on Amazon right now...... Just go on there and look it all over is my best thought. We just got lucky and were looking at the right time.....moo

Whole Foods workers to stage national ‘mass sick-out’ strike over coronavirus concerns
Posted Mar 30, 2020

“Whole Foods employees are planning to go on a national strike Tuesday after claiming the company is not implementing protective policies amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Whole Workers, a Whole Foods labor organization, is the group hosting the “mass sick-out,” according to a statement on Twitter.”

(Sorry if repost, just seeing this)
Wow, I just got my Amazon- WholeFoods delivered today. Ordered early afternoon, delivered around 7 pm. Same day! Super big tip given. Got almost everything ordered but no lettuce or bananas. And no online store has toilet tissues. They are in people's garages.

How to Make Vodka Jello Shots

Vodka Jello Shots are a classic party cocktail that’s easy to whip up and can be made in any flavor of Jello you love! Be sure to make a bunch, they go fast!

How to Make Jello Shots
  1. Boil 1 cup of water on the stovetop.
  2. Pour a 3-ounce box of gelatin mix into a mixing bowl. Pour boiling water over jello and whisk until jello is completely dissolved.
  3. Add vodka and cold water, 1/2 cup each, to the mixing bowl. Whisk to combine everything together.
  4. Place your 2-ounce plastic cups on a baking sheet without the lids. (This make them easier to carry and pop in the fridge)
  5. Pour the mixture into plastic shot cups and chill in the fridge until set, about 2 hours. Once set, top with lids for storing and to make them travel-friendly!
  6. You can serve them as is, or top with a swirl of whipped cream on top.
How long does it take to make jello shots?
The mixing and pouring part? About 5 minutes. The hard part is waiting for the shots to set up. They take anywhere between 1.5 to 2 hours to set up all the way. No one likes a runny jello shot.

See?! How easy is that? The hard part if waiting for them to set up. It’s worth noting you’ll get about 10 or so vodka jello shots per box of Jell-O. SO if you’re making one flavor you’ll want to grab a few boxes of gelatin. Or you can have fun with your colors and flavors and mix things up!

I went shopping 9 days ago and didn't think to do any of this wiping down the shopping, the key fobs etc etc . This was just before official lockdown. I just brought the shopping straight in and put (my own) bags on floor then unpacked the items on to kitchen table that go in fridge and freezer and put them all away. I did then wash my hands. I am amazed at the wiping down the shopping etc and hadn't even thought about it at all. I have no symptoms so far so I guess I am ok. How long would I have to wait to know?

And then there’s massive price gouging on Amazon. Just try to look for diced tomatoes.

This may be a "repeat" which if so, I apologize; but I am so irritated with Amazon that they haven't added a search button that says "In Stock" to their site options... I had to click on 20 listings a week and a half ago to find 50 masks at $35; and by that time, $35 seemed reasonable.

Has anyone had any luck ordering TP from anywhere?

Dollar store? OddJob/BigLots/similar discount store? Boxed.com? Jet.com? Staples? In the 90s my roommates and I used to get our toilet paper from Staples, but I suppose those last three options aren't much better than any other merchant who sells online... but I haven't seen anyone else mentioning them on thread yet. I occasionally read a "Deals" site where they're trying hard to advertise hot new "in-stocks":

12 Boxes Kleenex Professional Anti-Viral Facial Tissues For $12.46-$13.93 Shipped Via Amazon Subscribe And Save! - DansDeals.com

This particular listed deal is now already OOS :(, but since we've all got more time on our hands to refresh websites and all... I had postponed my Amazon subscription for ordinary 3-ply Kleenex to 3 months out (!), then thought better of it; but it, too, is currently "on hold; trying to get this for you" at the Amazon distribution channel end.

When purchasing flour, cereal other things like that, I toss them in the freezer. Sugar, too. If I have the room, the items stay in the freezer to prevent weevils and ants. Bay leaves on the pantry shelves can only keep so many critters away. Other items, (or if freezer space is at a premium, like now), get put into plastic or glass container BOXES. Snap tight lids. Not bags bc the critters chew holes through them to get to the good stuff. Sprinkle diatomaceous earth around as well. Natural product. It attaches to the critter legs, gets ugly for them from there but it gets rid of many problems. And you will have a bug free house.
If you need it, I have a DIY recipe that I haven’t tried but rids your house of other little creepy crawler pests, too. It’s a process. But now that you’re home with time to spare, maybe some deep cleaning would be a good thing. I’m finding myself cleaning, sanitizing way more than before.
We just don’t know how sanitary the store may be from where our purchases originate.

Oh, I forgot to mention my number one tip when buying bulk goods, and this reminded me.

I once had the exterminator into my apartment, because I could not figure out where the ants had come from in my kitchen all of a sudden.

Turns out, after his second visit, I checked the 5lb. bag of Goya rice I'd recently gotten from the supermarket: it had hole-punch-sized holes in it (!?), and was swarming with ants that were overwhelmingly likely to have originated in-store, since I had never seen a single ant before then. (*shudder*)

That was the absolute last time I ever bought bulk rice from the supermarket...

Husband Found some tp! At our “local” Wegmans. 15-20 minutes away o_O Not somewhere we’d typically shop. They only had the Scott single rolls. He said he almost went back in for a few more (funny to hear him admit that)
Also got some rustic/natural/ $$ looking hand soap there.

Also in the mini haul -tissues(allergies) ,Swiffer wet pads (dachshund), two  rolls of paper towels (eek I use a lot of pt even in regular life)

Not sure if any of that came from Wegmans$$ or his first stop, local Walmart - ten minutes away - we never go there. Like ever. He said the grocery section was “packed”:(
He didn’t go into the rest of the store. They had NO tp.

I assume he checked both of those in store stock online before going.

I still haven't wiped a piece of store-bought goods down, and I'm still alive and thriving, symptom-free.

Once I learned about this measure, I did start throwing away takeout, etc. bags immediately, and washing my hands right after removing the contents. The key fob, I currently sanitize occasionally with this little gadget:

https://www.amazon.com/PhoneSoap-Sa...ywords=phone+soap&qid=1585663611&sr=8-16&th=1

Discount knockoffs in same vein are plentiful under search option. I've thrown an iPod, AirPods, Apple Watch, keys with a Tile tab, my driver's license, and several credit cards in there, in addition to my phone, with no ill effects. Basically if it fits in there, it will sterilize it (you may have to have something handy to weight down springy items. I use a pillar candle).

When I shop (not now of course) I would buy things and shake them, turn them over, upside down, etc. before putting them in my cart. This is FL after all. I’d unload things in the garage.

I put together a storage area out there just last month. It’s a compilation of recycled free stuff so very budget friendly. Leftover wood, old siding, old wire rack, etc. I bought the shelf brackets new. The 2 cabinets were from the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Scrubbed everything with bleach. Sprayed around the entire area with bug spray.
