UK shoppers - Sainsbury’s is releasing more delivery slots. As far as I can work out, slots become available each morning for the next couple of days and you’re not able to book any further in advance. They still have the ‘no more then three of anything’ restriction in place but appear well stocked - I was even able to buy red lentils, which have been unavailable for weeks.

I went shopping 9 days ago and didn't think to do any of this wiping down the shopping, the key fobs etc etc . This was just before official lockdown. I just brought the shopping straight in and put (my own) bags on floor then unpacked the items on to kitchen table that go in fridge and freezer and put them all away. I did then wash my hands. I am amazed at the wiping down the shopping etc and hadn't even thought about it at all. I have no symptoms so far so I guess I am ok. How long would I have to wait to know?
14 days. You have 5 days to go, but be calm. Droplets are the primary source of transmission.

The virus is reported to survive 72 hours on plastic and metal and 24 hours on cardboard. I am treating paper like cardboard. I open mail outside, toss the envelope and let the item sit in a bin for a day. I use gloves for this. Study suggests new coronavirus may remain on surfaces for days

As I mentioned before, I take super precautions as my husband has Stage 4 metastatic cancer. I am totally freaking out that we have to go out for an MRI tomorrow. I wish we had hazmat suits., but we don’t, so we will be as careful as we can and hope for the best.

Walmart will start taking employees' temperatures and let them wear masks

Walmart added to its worker safety policies Tuesday as protections for retail and grocery store workers come under greater public scrutiny.

Walmart will begin taking workers’ temperatures at stores and warehouses before they begin their shifts. Any employee with a temperature above 100 degrees will be sent home to seek medical treatment, if necessary, but will be paid for showing up.

The retailer will also make medical masks and gloves available for employees who want to wear them. “They will be high-quality masks, but not N95 respirators — which should be reserved for at-risk healthcare workers,” the company said.

Thank you. I was surprised because I've been looking for yeast at least a month now.

I have plenty, if you would like some. For some reason, I bought a giant package on Amazon a month or so ago. It is seriously, like a pound of dried yeast. Red Star. I wasn't paying attention when I bought.

Or, you can make Irish Soda Bread, start a new sourdough batch.

JMO

Would like to know the following....
•Date she started quarantine
•Date symptoms appeared
•Date tested
•Dates she went to supermarket and which supermarket!

Useful information, worried now about my grocery store visit.

Too bad I’m not on twitter or I would ask!

also, did any people come into to her house in the last few weeks?

I wonder if a DIY face shield would work for trips to the store?

I found this video from a couple days ago:

My first thought was that they should wear a mask under the shield as well. But I wonder if this would still help for those who cannot get any masks or for when we eventually run out of disposable masks? My DH and I only have about half a dozen N95 masks we bought in the past for painting. So far I have been leaving my mask hanging up in the garage and reusing it only after 3 days or more have passed. But I was thinking eventually we will be forced to find a cloth mask or use a scarf and those might be less effective without something else like a face shield...

MOO.

DH went to the store today around 12:30 p.m.

The results:

1. Plenty of ground hamburger and ground pork. Other types of meat (steak, pork chops and deli-sliced meats) were available.

2. The healthy frozen fish we usually eat was gone.

3. Plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits. Orange juice was available.

4. Some paper towel. No toilet paper.

5. Eggs, milk, sliced cheese was available. Unsalted butter was going fast, DH snagged one pkg.

6. No flour, nor yeast.

I still have several types of packaged yeasts I can use for cinnamon rolls (in a nod to Kelsey Berreth).

Everyone, stay safe and healthy!

ETA: This is in the South Bay, Los Angeles area.
