Liz Cooper:

Detective says they couldn't get the truth from Moorer on his whereabouts the night Elvis went missing.

Police say Moorer misled detectives - and Moorer was near her home the night she went missing.

Prosecutors asking lead investigator after reviewing Elvis phone records - did Moorer mislead them - he says yes. Lead investigator says Moorer misled police about his whereabouts the night she went missing - referencing phone records to verify.

Lead investigator says it was 2 months after his interview with Moorer that Moorer was arrested for obstruction of justice.

Lead investigator says they would have handled the case differently in the beginning if they weren't misled by Moorer.

Lead investigator says Moorer's misleading information hindered their investigation.

Defense asks who Moorer first interviewed with at the department - investigator says it was Det. Allen Large.

Truslow says now they are talking about 3 different interviews between Moorer and police on the 20th... 1 with police early morning at Moorer's home, 2nd with Det. Large and 3rd with Lead Investigator (who is currently on the stand). Last 2 at PD.

Defense says Moorer is not under any obligation to release his life story to police and it's police problem they didn't have all the info.

Hey neighbor. That pier is where I walk to every morning.
Hey! I wish it still looked like that. I'm glad I got the pic before Hurricane Matthew, since the new one will have a concrete base. Ick.

This Judge does not need to be on this case!
I'm not sure he needs to be on ANY case. Whatever the judicial equivalent of a "bedside manner," that man just does not possess!

Thank you for this, JG. I had to step out unexpectedly for about that amount of time. Much appreciated.

Has Truslow always come across as a bumbling idiot and a smart@$$? He's bordering on unbearable with this hypothetical crap.

Liz Cooper:

Defense says Moorer never told police he didn't go near Elvis' house or bar she was at because he was never asked.

Defense says it wouldn't have mattered if Moorer told them he was at the bar, Longbeards, because police didn't know at that time Elvis was there.

Defense says misleading and omission are not the same. A point he is making with investigator on stand, that Moorer just left out info not lied.

"Any reasonable person would understand that." I love this witness!

Did the investigator just say that TM was sexting her boyfriend at the same time SM was at the payphone?

Yep. He sure did. I want to be his friend.

TIA!

So they must know where that phone was at the time (Sid's phone as it turns out), so maybe she WAS in the truck the whole time. Even when he locked the truck doors when he went into Walmart. And if the test was for herself, why the heck did she sit in the truck? Even if it wasn't?

The investigators got the phone records of SM, TM, and the kids! I didn't realize they'd gotten the kids' phone records.

  • #294
"It wasn't until he (SM) felt trapped . . . that he felt he needed to come clean at that time and tell us he made the phone call."

Liz Cooper:

Lead investigator says Moorer had multiple times to come forward with information that he left out.

Liz Cooper:

Defense asks if the investigation COULD or WOULD have been different if Moorer gave info about phone call and whereabouts. He says COULD.

State redirecting with lead invstigator now. He tells court yes information left out by Moorer hindered this investigation.

Taylor Herlong (earlier):

Family and friends of Heather Elvis are visibly upset and shaking their heads while listening to the audio interview with police.

Looking at TM right now and picturing Heather in my mind. There are no words.

Taylor Herlong:

Sidney says Tammy and Heather talked at the end of October/beginning of November on Sidney's phone.

Sidney talks about his wife drinking that night. That's after he says he bought a pregnancy test around the same time - for his wife.

Detectives asking Sidney in interview when was the last time he went to Peach Tree Landing. He says "a year or so .... maybe."

Cauble is now being cross-examined by Truslow:

"We knew that he was the last person that talked to her". Says even if he had not talked to Sidney would have still gotten records.

"Wasn't until he felt trapped at the time during our interview when we told him we had a video he felt like he needed to come clean." - Cauble

Truslow now presenting Cauble with a report from KC Canterbury. This report was talked about yesterday.

Report says Sidney allowed officers to look at his cell phone. Canterbury says in report he saw the message from Heather.
