I can't believe in this day and age, we're still swearing people in on the Bible. Separation of church and state much?

  • #424
No that is not covered by separation of church and state.

Ha! The Wal Mart video made it in!

I should clarify I wasn't talking about the Free Exercise Clause or the Establishment Clause from the Constitution. I didn't mean it shouldn't legally be done. I meant it in the metaphorical, Thomas Jefferson, the church and state should stay out of each other's business kind of way. I don't have intentions of a political or religious debate. I just think it's silly to ask people, who may or may not be Christian, to swear on the Bible that may or may not matter to them.

I'm sure this is a silly question, but does anyone know if this is available on any channel to listen to on sirius/xm satellite radio?? TIA!

I'd love to see SM on the stand answering the question, "were you purchasing the pregnancy test for your wife, who had been drinking all night, or your ex-girlfriend, who you wanted to leave you alone?"

I missed that. It really saddens me to the core that those kids are there. I'm glad one of them isn't there. I wish none of them were. They will never be "normal." There's no coming back from this. Even if they believe the lies, one day down the road, they'll have an a-ha moment and realize just what their parents have done - not only criminally, but morally by putting them through this.

I agree.

In addition, it's been theorized here at WS before that TM and SM spent their cross-country trip plotting this whole plan to kill Heather upon their return, and I always blew that off because even though I thought it was pre-meditated, I didn't think it was THAT pre-meditated.

However, after listening to SM's interview this morning, when he said that he and TM used their trip to "talk about their relationship after the kids went to sleep" I have reconsidered and I think they WERE planning and plotting on the trip. I just don't know WHY! Why not just leave this poor girl alone?

And, did any of the innocent kids hear any of this plotting when they were supposed to be asleep? :(

Agree with you both. Feel really bad for those kiddos!

In other news, Truslow is really ramping up his indignant act this afternoon!

I'd also looooovvveeee to hear from either Sid or TM's doctors about whether either one of them previously had sterility surgery.

For those not watching, they're done for the day. Prosecution has two more witnesses (I think they said that one would be late?) and I think the Defense said they wouldn't be calling witnesses.

Think that was Morgan on the left in the black shirt. Gosh she looks so much like Heather! I wonder how it feels for the murderers to see her in that courtroom?

Yes! She stood right in front of the camera for several minutes earlier to talk to the blond lady with super short hair. She was very poised; I could absolutely see the pageant training she's had!

It was her. I love that she's always there for them to see. I'm glad she was smiling at the end of court today. I'm sure that's gotta be really hard to do some days.

On another note, TM doesn't look so good these days ...

Debbi Elvis, Heather’s mother, spoke with media following the proceedings Monday and reminded the public her daughter is still missing.

“Even though this trial is going on, and it’s important, the most important thing, is that we find Heather.”

She said information on the case is still needed.

“We’re not going to stop looking. We haven’t stopped looking just because this trial is going on. We still need to find Heather.”

Brianna's (BW) testimony today:

The judge said BW’s testimony would be hearsay, not permissible in court.

“The worst thing that can happen, I think, is to have this case have to be retried because we went too far in allowing evidence that really wasn’t critical to your case,” the judge said to the prosecutors.

BW, however, has testified before. She took the stand last year during Moorer’s kidnapping trial, which ended in a mistrial.

During the 2016 trial, BW said Elvis told her that Moorer called, claiming he was ready to leave his wife. BW wasn’t able to give that information to jurors Tuesday, and without that key testimony, Tuesday’s jurors only have Moorer’s side of the story.

Moorer claims he told Elvis to leave him alone. He was happy with his wife and wanted no relationship with Elvis.

I have been in a courtroom before and people had an option to take an oath on bible to tell the truth or take another oath without a bible to promise to tell the truth. There was a name for it but I can't quite remember. I saw someone choose to do the second one.
