Throwing it out there. As someone who (in another lifetime, it feels like now) turned my back on my family, friends and anyone else who got in the way of my true love abuser of a boyfriend, I can tell you that for the first time in my life I felt like a grown up. I had my own place, (BIG deal to me as a teenager) could come and go as I pleased, could party at will, and so many other reasons that made perfect sense at the time, but now know were juvenile, destructive and just plain stupid. I got the hell beat out of me, never pressed charges because I knew he would be in trouble and gone for a day or so and due to my unbelieveably low self esteem, thought he might not want me anymore when he got out and where would I go? SO, I stayed and took the abuse, and stuck up for him every chance i got and clung to him like my life depended on it. I didnt want to go back home..I could go on, but the point is, IMO Ron is abusive, I see it all over him. Doesnt mean he did anything to Haleigh, but I'd bet the farm he knows he has complete control over Misty and there isnt a damn thing she will do about it. Isolation from family and friends is a classic sign of an abused person. A loving person would urge the family of the person he loved to reconcile. It is to his advantage to divide and conquer. JMOJMOJMOJMO

I am very sorry that happened to you and glad you got away from it. I can understand why you don't trust men after that, but don't think it's fair for posters to take their personal bad experiences out on Ron, and I feel there is a lot of that going on here.

I do think Misty has probably had some abuse in her background, just the fact that she was taken out of school very young could amount to child abuse in my opinion. But I suspect that abuse was by family members, and Ron and his family is protecting her from possible further abuse. JMO.

BBM--Misty wasn't on her own...she was with Ron's grandmother...

Good point HH. Also, there are so many wives living with abusive husbands that don't leave their husbands when the get a chance to. She could have been in danger that night, but wasn't ready to leave him when he was locked up. Strange.

Did Tommy tell you that? Or is it just an opinion that you are posting as fact?
Many people plead no contest to charges....it doesn't necessarily mean they are innocent of those charges, in fact, it usually means quite the opposite.

I don't think that is an appropriate question to ask another poster, and I think you are being rude when you ask, did he tell me that. I live in Texas not FL.
Where did you get your information that they sat in the car not moving for several minutes, after they had been asked to leave?
But I saw it on the news. It was on one of the clips when he was interviewed coming out of the courthouse, he told a reporter to let her have it, (the PRO), he was moving and didn't want anything to do with her, or something to that effect. I'm sure the link is posted somewhere on here.

You don't know that they were just sitting in the parked car, now do you?
GmaS said she ordered them in the van, and in the meantime, Ron comes running out and opens the door and starts punching Tommy. Things like that can take only mere seconds.
We really don't know that they just sat there, not moving, for more than a second or two. I'm sure that Ron could manage a distance of quite a few feet with one long running leap, and the car could have been right up close to the house.
Years ago, I saw an incident where a 17 y.o.'s mother and stepfather were in their vehicle about to drive out of the driveway, and the boy kicked out the storm door, leaped up on the hood and kicked their windshield in, when he had been sleeping off a drunk only minutes before that. So it can happen in the blink of an eye, especially when a person is angry.

No I don't know they were just sitting in the car. But it does seem they were. I've seen no evidence they were stuck in mud, couldn't find keys etc and I've never heard anyone say that they were actually driving when it happened.

What I am finding really odd...........is that Tommy has been arrested tonight and it seems more important to discuss the fight with Ron..........I don't get that.

I am very happy~ Not going to get an argument from me about thinking it may be progress in the case because I agree with you on this one.

Bold by me. Yes. And simply going onto someone's property uninvited is not trespassing. According to Florida law, trespassing requires that the person must refuse to leave when asked.

No one - not Misty, Ron, nor GGMS ever said that the Croslins refused to leave. The repeated claim that they did refuse to leave has no evidence whatsoever to hold it.

Well I can only speak for myself, but I am happy!
:woohoo:
I hope that this is the break this case needs, I hope the truth comes out soon, so Haleigh can be brought home.

...........so uh......Tommy got arrested today for something bad enough to hold him on a $50K bail. It's been rumored to be a gun. Someone upthread stated Tommy had not, as of Friday, turned over all his guns. This gun is a stolen one.

My question: Could he have turned in his guns today and as they were running serials on 'em all, found one that was listed as stolen?

So...because Tommy says it, it must be true? I remain curious as to why so many think he is such a truthful and good guy? I just don't get it. Is it because he doesn't like Ron and you want to support anyone who doesn't like Ron, or is there some other reason for your belief that Hank is such a good and altruistic guy?

Personally, I don't think Tommy is such a good guy, but I also don't think he took it upon himself to go find his sister that day and take her home out of the blue. I think she called him when she and Ron were fighting and in the midst of the fight Ron charged her brother for getting involved. I've seen it happen in domestic disputes. Family members can't win because so much of the time the fighting couple will get back together and you're the bad guy for trying to help out.

I don't think trespassing would hold up anyway if Misty did call her brother and ask him to come over. I suppose phone records could prove that. In other words, she "invited" him over, so it wouldn't be trespassing.

Thank you! I'm glad that somebody recognizes a diversion tactic when they see it. If this had been different.. say Ron went to the Croslins and was asked to leave, it would have been another song and dance entirely. IMHO.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that. I'm sure there is legislation governing them, and that there must be some legitimate basis for granting them. If the Court believed Tommy over Misty, I doubt they would have granted it.

A temporary restraining order is the only order that can be granted ex-parte. You can have someone put out of their home, take custody of the children, get child support ordered and all sorts of things all on the basis of a notarized statement by the petitioner. They scared me all the years I wrote them and I was extremely careful about drafting them. Not all my co-workers were and I saw some things done I really disagreed with.

I had a schitzophrenic client take one out on me saying that I had conspired with Legal Services to kill her. (I hadn't, I promise) and I had to go to court to get it all straight. The Judge threw it out. Judges grant them first and ask questions later just to be on the safe side. Probably correctly as they are only temporary orders.

I'll shut up now. Sorry for the lecture about what you already know.

Closer, I think this is great progress tonight. I keep hanging around to see if we can find out about the charges. If they can get Tommy to talk, maybe we can find out what all the phone calls were about between he and Misty the night HaLeigh disappeared.

No, teh, I think you're right! I'm very happy at the thought that there might be progress..significant progress. I'm trying to be philosophical, though, because we have gotten our hopes up before only to see nothing come of it. It sounds like LE has an opportunity and are taking advantage of it.
Despite all the differences of opinion, we all want the same result and are hoping for Haleigh's wellbeing and recovery.

Why bother...........Haleigh I hope this leads to you baby girl.

Good post Kelly. You are exactly right. I am retired now, but did counseling at a battered women's shelter for a few years. RC has classic traits of an abusive man.

I'm soooo confused. I thought Ron is alleged to be protecting Misty? Now he's abusing her?

I don't believe for a second he's abusive....no evidence of it at all, DCF agrees and Crystal never even sought custody of Jr. despite the big question mark over Misty's version of what happened that night. So, I think the logical conclusion is that he is not abusive.

I never realized that unholy alliances, and unhealthy relationships, were mutually exclusive... :waitasec:
