Heart Shaped Sticker And Duct Tape #3

The previous doc dump, describes "silver duct tape over the mouth area". Then later: "noticed residue in perfect shape of a heart". No mention of WHERE along the length of the duct tape the sticker was.

See p3168

Does go on to say "investigators located (at remains site) a small heart shaped sticker similar in size to the residue found on the duct tape"

The assumption was that they found the very sticker that had fallen off the duct tape, and maybe they did, but you can also interpret that as describing the DIFFERENT sticker that we all saw in the photo of today. I do not believe the sticker in today's photo fell off one place, and firmly attached itself to the "cardboard" or whatever that is in the photo.
If the sticker in today's photo was just sitting on cardboard, having fallen off the duct tape, I am sure LE would have collected and inspected it to match with the duct tape residue?

Hercule...they sometimes refer to duct tape over the mouth....I was picturing it wrapped around head.....has there been any clarification? They also said there were pieces around also. any idea where they were attached originally?
__________

RE: sticker....Is it possible they just layed it on cardboard to photograph it? Great possiblility kc used more than one sticker!

No clarification. I was hoping.

We know it was long enough to go from hair on either side, but it COULD be even longer and "touch" at the back? You'd think they would have said from the start, but you never know. I was hoping today we might lean the length of that piece, or perhaps see a photo.
I don't think that is too morbid? I don't expect to see any shots of actual skull, but perhaps the tape? and even the hair?

Pulling this over from the "defense responds" thread, because I think it may be important, or at least, very interesting......:waitasec:

Is it just me, or is there a big OOPS here from JB? Who said the heart-shaped sticker on the duct tape was red? I have never seen the "color" of the sticker mentioned by LE or anyone else. In fact, only the residue of a heart-shaped sticker was found on the duct tape on Caylee's mouth. And to my knowledge, only a photo of the pinkish-red puffy heart sticker that was found on the cardboard matting found near the remains was included in the document drop -- no photo of the heart that left the sticky residue on the duct tape has seen the light of day.

So, who, except the killer (or the killer's attorney), could have known it was red???????

I'm still laughing about this one. The man is astounding. He must love the taste of his own foot.

I thought that too when I read that but thought I must have missed somewhere it said it was red....guess not.

of course it may be in the docs he has seen that we haven't yet - and if not - that is so telling..

There are two stickers. One was placed somewhere along one of the three pieces of duct tape recovered from the site. Adhesive residue was left on that piece of duct tape. The sticker itself was not recovered.

The second sticker is the one we have seen in the photographs. It is attached to a piece of "cardboard" or "matting". Note that a picture frame was recovered at the scene as well, so it is possible the heart was on a photograph matte.

The recovered puffy heart sticker may not be related to Caylee at all. The woods were full of all sorts of trash. The duct tape heart sticker has apparently not been recovered. This means that it could have been intentionally removed before the body was dumped in the woods.

Or it could have been fell off due to all the water/weather causing the glue to break down.... and then was carried away by a creature, blown away by the wind, floated away, or was made of paper and simply disintegrated.

Does anyone else think these look like the puffy sticker that was found at the crime scene? It's hard to tell from this image, but these stickers are puffy ones.

Hi marellano,

IMO those look exactly like the type of sticker in the photograph released. Where did you find them? Do they sell them at Target? Great find...

I think they look like the one found at the crime scene. They're puffy and have the sparkle/glitter within the plastic material.
Those and the crime scene heart also look just like this one photographed at the A home within a scrapbook. The stickers on these pages are puffy just like the crime scene heart and the heart has the sparkle/glitter effect. I think this is the match from the A home to the crime scene heart. Where did you find the heart stickers that you posted?

A photograph was taken from the A home (either from Caylee's or KC's room). It would be interesting to search old videos/pics from the A home and see if this particular photograph was previously in the frame found on the scene with a sticker on the matte. I wonder why the frame would be discarded with the remains? Did it have evidence on it?

I don't have any doubts there was residue on the piece of tape over the mouth and the residue clearly showed there was a heart shaped sticker placed there. They did find a heart shaped sticker at the scene which "matched" the adhesive.

I don't think we have seen this particular sticker or piece of duct tape. I think it is something they are holding back and we aren't going to see it until trial.

I'm quoting myself below from a post I made last night on the "Duct Tape Match" thread. I'm hoping to get the supersleuth crowd to help mull this over.

(start quote)
I'm having trouble pinning down how much duct tape was found. One piece on the skull, found the first day. Three more pieces found on Dec. 19 (not near the remains bag) for a total of four at site. One piece on gas can from Anthony house.

Okay. Then the OCSO submission shows skull piece and gas can piece going to FBI, that's two pieces, but the examination request by OCSO asks for the two of them to be compared to a third piece.

Next, the FBI exam itself describes choosing one of three pieces from the site to compare to the gas can piece because the three are so much alike (and all "degraded").

A reminder, three of the four pieces I found listed from the remains site were not discovered until Dec. 19, almost a week after this other stuff was sent off to the FBI.
ETA: Disregard above. skull tape was submitted to FBI on 1.09.09, I think. pg. 3744 (OCSO Item Q-100).
Other three pieces not shown on 1.11.09 submittal list for items found 12.19.08, pg. 3751. They would have been OCSO Tag J-60013, Item 4 & 5 (ref: crime scene investigation, pg. 3453

I read through this stuff 'til my eyeballs started bleeding and just got more confused.

Bolded by me

The "Warrant" narrative in the previous dump regarding the sticker does NOT say matched, it says "similar in size" Quite a difference really?

The previous doc dump, describes "silver duct tape over the mouth area". Then later: "noticed residue in perfect shape of a heart". No mention of WHERE along the length of the duct tape the sticker was.

See p3168

I agree, the puffy glitter heart is different than what was placed on the duct tape.

I did some experimenting with very similiar heart stickers I have in my own scrapbook stash and one thing that stuck out is that puffy stickers like these really need a flat surface, they don't bend and they don't stick as well as paper stickers. I know usually when I use one I apply more pressure to make sure it sticks. I used masking tape and put a piece over my mouth cheek to cheek and tried putting the puffy sticker over my mouth, it didn't lay flat, the far left and right sides of the heart stuck up a bit, I couldn't get the heart flat until I took it off and bent it a bit in the middle, but then the middle was a bit raised. I also tried putting it on the tape on my cheek, I was able to get it to get it flat, but had to press pretty hard to make it stay. My conclusion is for the heart sticker on the duct tape to have left the "perfect heart shaped residue" it would need to have been a paper sticker rather than the puffy one. I also don't think the puffy kind would come off the duct tape and stick itself to cardboard. Puffy stickers just aren't that sticky and I don't think it would have enough sticky left to adhere itself to something else once it fell off the duct tape. Just my 2 cents after my very amatuer sleuthing.

Evidence Q200 from the sifting and combing searches: Plastic hair clip (cream colored, heart design). Have we seen this in any pics of Caylee?

I assume that having gone to those noble lengths for the sleuthing cause, you took photos? Did the duct tape stick to your hair?

Nothing really noble about it, having some experience using puffy stickers, I was just curious and thought I'd try something out. I'm sorry I did not take photos...to be honest, I just didn't think of it and no the masking tape didn't stick to my hair, my hair isn't long enough. :)

I think you did well, and to be serious, the info on stickers makes a lot of sense. I imagine the "puffy" stickers are not easily attaced to uneven surfaces.

Just watch how far you take this reinacting of crimes. Especially murders.

We're working on this on the duct tape thread. So far we are up to at least 8, including the piece from the gas can.
