Big ole long wander away from the body.

Well, as forty two put it, 10 ft. south and 30-40 ft. west really isn't that far. I believe it's the same sticker... we don't (or at least I don't) know how firmly it was stuck to that piece of carboard or whatever it's photographed on.

AND I would think that Cindy would have scrubbed down any sign of ANYTHING on Casey's shoes, especially any that were recovered from the vehicle or that came in from Tony's with her "stuff" since everything reeked of smoke. So I would not think there would BE any kind of evidence left on any of her shoes...so it must be something else...what is any man's guess.

I'm not so sure that CA washed the boots and shoes. Unlike the clothing, they seem to have been left in the car. She could have washed them and put them back in the car - but why?
.

Good point. I think the footwear in the car would have been un-Cindified.

Not so good though is the possibility that the reason they took more shoes 20th Dec was that they had not found anything on the stuff from car?

The point I'm trying to stress is that 30-40 ft. is a long way under these circumstances. Very dense underbrush.

Check out this crime scene photo. I think that this is very close to the location that the heart sticker was found. Wind or slowly rising or subsiding flood water isn't going to move something very far through that at ground level. And I can't visualize KC just wandering through it, either.

I don't know... yes the brush is extremely dense, but it's possible that a very lightweight sticker was carried, especially in the storm. We also had search crews going through, moving stuff around. It's just too much of a coincidence to me that a heart sticker "similar in size" was found in the search area. What are the chances I would find a heart sticker in the woods behind my house? I doubt I would.

Why not start a "Dirt" thread. I'm game.

Here's the dirt on dirt...a thread might be a good idea:

I prefer "the dirt on dirt". ;)

I mentioned this before, and I'll stress it again. I'm not surprised about anything they found in that's in the search area.

They spent a week and a half on their hands and knees. They scraped down through the dirt and sifted the dirt through screens. Four times. They did this in an area more than 4200 sq. ft. and kept everything that didn't try to escape and some things that did. Finding a bright, glittery, red piece of plastic is no shock.

But a heart shaped sticker similar in size kinda sticks out, don't you think?

Only because we really, really want it to.

We can conjecture that the sticker, not sticky enough to stay on the duct tape (but sticky enough to leave a residue that remained on the "worn surface" of the tape for six months) fell off, then traveled twice as far as the remains were from the curb through underbrush that would discourage a small rodent, re-attached itself securely to a piece of wet, dirty cardboard, and waited patiently to be discovered.

Or we can conjecture that finding a heart sticker of a common size and shape, in an obvious trash dump site in the middle of a huge residential development, a few hundred ft. from an elementary school isn't really all that much of an anomaly.

The discovery of both a "heart shaped residue" and a "similar" heart shaped sticker is enough to drive any sleuthing addict into a true "foam at the mouth" frenzy, but sometimes coincidences do happen. I don't think that this one is all that improbable.

Just firing up for the day. Thought I'd be picky with the bit bolded (just a small part of the post). Should read "similar sized"

Interesting...those Sandylion stickers that marellano found that exactly match the one found on the cardboard matting come in a package describing them as "gem" stickers, and Sandylion seems to use "gem" and "epoxy" stickers as interchangeable terms. So I don't think they are the soft clear rubbery kind of sticker; I think they are the rigid ones like you would use on a cell phone (or for scrapbooking). Which would make it even more unlikely that the pink striped glittery heart sticker found on the cardboard matting was ever placed on duct tape across Caylee's mouth. A rigid epoxy sticker would not stick on duct tape across a soft object (sorry for the visual).

ETA: This brings us back to the possibility raised by a few people (ecs5298 among others) that this epoxy sticker could have been sitting out there forever and is unrelated to KC.

Marellano did find the exact sticker, imo. I haven't found any stores or online sites selling them except Walgreen's. A search of product availability at Walgreen's in Orlando show that all 10 stores currently have them in stock. Apparently, it's a common sticker pack and readily available in the Orlando area.

Also, the pack comes in a variety of shapes and sizes. It seems that LE would have found a similar sticker or at least the remainder of the pack at the A home if KC had these.

On the other hand, some of the stickers included with this pack are similar to the cell phone type stickers that KC had on her phone. I've been looking for something in prior photos that look like the heart sticker found at the scene but I'll look for different sizes and colors now that I see how this sticker is sold.

Can you give any idea of scale for the Sandylion stickers.

The picture comparison looked like a very good match, but would like to be reasureed about size.

I agree-It may not stick to duct tape but it would stick to a flat paper surface. JMO

IIRC, the stickers are sold on a 5" x 11" backing. I'll double check but I'm pretty sure of that.

Hi there, fortytwo. Forensics may come to the rescue on this front, too. Adhesives on the sticker and residue from the front of the tape can be analyzed and compared for chemical composition--the same can be done with tape adhesive.

Sorry to be picky

5x11" does not seem correct for the long skiny sheet shown?
