What a tragedy! Such a young life and he leaves a young daughter. I saw him in The Brothers Grimm, he was Jacob Grimm. He was wonderful!

What an *! How can this guy in good conscience picket funerals? Besides, Heath Ledger wasn't gay in real life, only the character he played, or is Fred going to picket because Heath may have OD'd???:banghead:

I sincerely hope Heath's family manages to bury him in private and Fred Phelps isn't allowed anywhere near.:razz: They don't need that indignity on top of their loss.

I had no idea who Fred Phelps was so I googled him...OMG!..this old freak is a piece of ummm work...he pickets military funerals too?!?!? Now that IMO (being the wife of a veteran) is a true disgrace. I wish everyone would just step back from the Heath Ledger situation and let's just see how this plays out. Seriously, noone knows any true facts as of yet and it doesn't help anything, especially his memory to add oil to the rumor mill gears. And even if it does turn out to be something as senseless as OD or whatever, there is an underlying issue. He wasn't a loser, he loved his family. Mr. Ledger deserves the dignity that we would all hope to have if/when we are not here to defend ourselves.

Apparently, playing a gay character in Brokeback makes Heath an "enabler" to gays. I can't imagine Heath's family not taking him home to Australia and I doubt these people would fly that far to picket. Hopefully, they can't afford to.

Texana is right, he takes every opp to send a press release. He's a complete waste of human skin, IMO.

Thanks, DK - I had not seen this. No drug residue found on the $20 is good to know. Now I am starting to think (again) that this was just a terrible accident with the pneumonia and the script drugs.

When that earlier BS came out about drugs on a $20 and dope in some baggies, I was disheartened.

Yes - I can't think of them off the top of my head, but I know his group has shown up at several funerals - tragic things that have no connection to homosexuality - with signs that say "God allows this to happen because we harbor gays" - stuff like that. I try not to follow him or even post about him because I don't want to give his message PR - but I couldn't help myself from jumping in to say I know he goes wherever he can get attention for his venom - not just to "gay" things, though he hits those up to.

I read that he also protested the funeral of the family that was killed in the ohio crash where the drunk driver was driving on the wrong side of the highway and hit them.

Three members of the Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church, known for protests at military funerals, demonstrated about a block from St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church.

The demonstrators said that the deaths are God's retribution against the community for a recent $11 million jury award against the Kansas group. A federal jury in Baltimore made the award in October to Albert Snyder, of York, Pa., who sued after the group protested his son's military funeral in Maryland.

Demonstrator Fred Phelps said the community is going to "pay the price" for persecuting his group for preaching the word of God.
