The husband of a "loving and caring" palliative care nurse who apparently died by suicide has faced questioning during a coronial inquest over how much he stood to gain from his wife's death through her life insurance policy.

Helen Bird, 43, was found dead on July 8, 2010, in a shed on the property she owned with her husband at Blackmans Bay, south of Hobart.

Her death, which was ruled a suicide, is now being re-examined by a coroner 13 years later.
