I can tell you that part of this lady's problem is that (1) she had more than one pit and they formed a "pack"; (2) since she allowed them the freedom to do whatever they wanted in her house (sleep with her, lay on the furniture, etc.), she gave up the power of being the "alpha" dog in that pack and they took over and killed her. AT the very least if you're bound and determined to have a pit bull, DO NOT have more than one and for crying out loud, make sure they know their place in the pack - and that would be the lowest on the totem pole!!!
True words, Jeana.
This case still has me scratching my head. The police officer said yesterday that we will probably never know what caused the attack, since her son was in the shower when it occured.
What happened, I wonder?
I hope they are going to do an autopsy, or whatever they call it when it's an animal. I also hope they autopsy the owner, because I am really wondering if she went down for some medical reason and the dogs reacted the way they did to try to "pull" her to safety---like the guy in California.
I did read that although no one had ever had problems with her dogs, they had escaped the yard before and run wild for awhile before being contained by the owner....the pack thing is a definite aspect of this death, but even packs don't normally turn on one of their own.
