This seems like closing the barn door after the horse has not only left, but run off to Vegas and become an Elvis impersonator. I assume the media is going to appeal this ruling. I can't think what possible difference it could make at this point -- there's still a wealth of material out there on the internet.

thanks for the chuckle

If there is something worse that what I've already seen of her I'd rather not see it. If you know what I mean and I think you do.

LOL Yes there are certain "bits" forever seared in my brain :scared:

You know JA is dying to be in front of the cameras but she has been in jail for so long. Jails are hardly conducive to good health and beauty. She doesn't look very good especially not after she was convicted of first-degree murder committed in an especially cruel manner. She wants oh-so-badly to be the star of this show but there's no way. What's a girl to do? Can't you see it's not her fault?

I would assume death threats, jury tampering can be the issue here.

I guess the DT received that motion since "change of venue" will not happen?

Didn't the DT. say it could influence the jury? This is so long ago its hard to remember.:floorlaugh:

I think it is a good decision. It gives us access to what is going on but it will only be shown when CMJA is no longer relevant. I think it is worse for her than any of us. All she has left is infamy. This will steal that from her and put the focus on the case.

:twocents:

:tantrum: I am outraged by this decision ... but I am not surprised ...

This "judge" is one of the worse I have ever seen ... she is "spineless" ...

I hope the media chimes in on this ...

Oh, and yes, I hope Jodi Arias complains also -- I know I know ... but ya know Jodi will be just upset if there is no live coverage !

:moo:

:seeya:

I watched the whole trial. In my experience, she was a good judge. I can disagree with a decision here or there and still think that. I didn't find her spineless.

The reasons for the decision are sealed. Did one side move to exclude cameras?

  • #31
Why would it be 'sealed'?

Will it become 'unsealed' at some point?

IIRC, the defense asked it not to be televised?

I agree. I think the erred on the side of caution to make sure that CMJA had little room for appeal. IT is going to be very hard for her to have any appeal other than the automatic ones if she gets the DP.

Also there's this on his facebook page The State vs Jodi Arias ~ Travis Alexander murder trial

"Update and explanation on the camera ruling:

1. A pool camera will be recording the penalty phase retrial. These recordings will not be aired until a verdict has been reached by the jury.
That means that whilst a rolling camera will record live, we won't see anything until a verdict is reached. We will not be able to view online streams in real time.

2. Any live broadcast approved by the Court shall have a 15 minute delay.
That is, if media move for live coverage of opening or closing statements, the verdict or witness testimony, they require court approval and the broadcast must be delayed by 15 minutes.

3. #JodiArias has the same rights as other witnesses.
That is, if the def. move for her testimony to not be recorded and the judge grants the motion, we will only get audio, post verdict."

That would have been my translation of the ruling too. You can bet that some media want to be able to air the verdict live, hence the 15-minute delay element.
