What are some reasons defendants try to push back their trial dates for as long as possible? Is it so their lawyers have more time to prepare? Is it that time goes on and people's general outrage regarding the crime seems to lessen as other things happen and details get forgotten about? Is the accused held somewhere better pre-trial than post-trial if found guilty?

No clue, but I keep hoping they will cop a plea and tell LE where they put Ariel's body. Her poor older sister has been through enough!!

Are her siblings adults or minors?

I hate the waiting game. Those 2 demons should be in prison for life or the chair. What was done to this little girl is despicable.

This article really calls out how truly horrific the abuse was and how the social service agencies and courts blatantly ignored the clear abuse signs, even when physicians were telling them there was very likely abuse.

I am horrified. People who were supposed to protect Ariel and her siblings, but failed, who gave them to these monsters with history od violence and meth use, who then ignored all signs and signals of horror these poor girls were living in, well these people need to be arrested and tried. That are criminal levels of very much willful negligence.

This is a very long article about Ariel's bio mom. She has another baby, a one month old boy. She says she is clean now and hopes that she will be allowed to keep the baby and to be reunited with two of her daughters. She said that the father of the children is also in recovery. The child welfare system stepped in two days after the baby was born and a social worker filed a report. She still does not have a court date. She doesn't know where her four surviving daughters are, but she hears rumors. The article continues with the mom's background and struggles. The second half of the article is about her visits with Ariel. There are also two pictures of a healthy looking Ariel with her mom (which are too large to post.)

"The mother of a Waimanalo girl allegedly murdered by the couple who adopted her says she is sober and working to prevent the state from putting her newborn son into the same system."

She needs to stay sober if she wants to keep the baby and get her surviving daughters back. But is that even possible? Were the other girls also adopted?
