I got a few online tire quotes out of curiosity. My own tires would run about $600 for a set. A set of better truck tires is just under $900, but those are not specialty tires. No idea what he wanted to buy.

Thinking about what you are saying about your friend's awareness space and thinking of my own. I have a range of where I go all the time, then some of the time. But when I try to imagine hiding something illegal, the space goes way way down. There's too much uncertainty about what goes on. When I was that age though, I really knew the woods around where I lived a lot better than now. From the pics of SC out mudding, it sounds like he explores off the beaten track.

I checked the Costco website and a set of tires for a 2000 four-runner was $800. Yes there's a Costco on Maui.

Can't remember the model year of his vehicle so I guessed.

He must have had a great relationship with his employer to 1) secure a significant advance in pay and 2) work for them during the time he was out on bail. I have always been more curious as to why he wasn't terminated sooner.

I wonder what SC answers when LE asks him what happened, what did you do, where is she?
Can they keep asking him? Or does the law protect him from that too?

  • #106
They cannot question him once he has invoked his right counsel, except in presence of and agreement of his attorney.

To be fair to the law's intent, it's not protecting the guilty. It's protecting the innocent who get accused. There's no way to protect the innocent with a right to due process unless all accused have the same right. :)

His trial on the theft charge was at for this Monday the 27th.

You are correct. The laws are supposed to protect those charged, but are innocent. Yet the guilty somehow benefit from loop holes. I'm jaded though from my own experience with the justice system and a murder.

I understand and I sympathize so much with what you went through.

I don't think of them as loopholes though but as rights and protections. The law can't give them only to the innocent, because everyone has to be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

There are countries where suspects are presumed guilty and have to prove their innocence against all odds, where it is no big deal to put some innocents in front of a firing squad or hang them in order to make sure the guilty ones are executed. The English system at time our country formed didn't give a person a fair shake especially if poor. There's no way to make a system that only favors the innocent and only punishes the guilty.

Guilty ones are trying to hide their guilt, but innocent people are not thinking about living life with a constant alibi to prove innocence, and circumstantial evidence or a bad witness can send an innocent to prison for life.

LE needs to be well trained and scrupulous about honoring the Bill of Rights and rules of evidence or it's work will get tossed out, it's on them. So far nothing indicates they made major mistakes here, but we will see. Fingers crossed.

i would be as upset as anyone here if he were to wriggle out of this, as I have no doubt that he murdered Charli and Joshua without an ounce of heart.

I agree that is the ideal.

The trial for SC's burglary charges was continued yesterday and set for July 15th.
The Weapons possession charge was already continued and set for June 20th.
Murder and arson trial plus motion to suppress still set for May 14th.

Looks like they want to take care of the big dog first. Those other charges have been continued multiple times now.

Any place SC liked to go to alone a lot?

If SC stabbed and it wasn't the blade hidden in his belt when he was arrested where did the blade come from and where did he hide it?

  • #113
He didn't only hide Charli and Joshua's bodies. He hid weapon, Charli's phone, laptop, wallet, and some Toyota parts. Are those with the bodies? You can burn some things but where do you hide e-waste on the island? Or move Toyota parts without suspicion?

Don't forget that belt knife he got caught with. I'm thinking that was the weapon.

Exactly! The small things can be disposed of in a variety of ways. The burned Toyota however, was missing doors and tires. Look at the picture of it on the Media Links and Timeline thread. IF SC was the one who stripped it and burned it, what did he do with the doors and tires? And the people who had the grille, who the police cleared of any involvement... where did they get it? Where can you buy used Toyota parts on the island? IF you were in possession of some large car parts, doors for example, that you needed to dispose of ASAP in East Maui, where would you take them?

Smart not to burn the tires. So he took them off and put them in his truck and brought them where?

There's a scrap yard a hop, skip and jump away from SC's place in Haiku. No questions asked kinda place until the police come knocking.

I think the rubber tires were burned. The steel belts can be seen in the burned out location pic.

I am so glad these pages are back.

I wonder if it has to do with the major Facebook tweaks this last week.
I found out they were back accidentally. I was using search to bring up Find Charli Scott, and the search suggested "study" as a second possibility. I clicked and began reading, and came to a Chunk o'butter post in one of the threads. Was surprised to see it at all, clicked, and there was the whole page as it ever was.
