Pua do you have a link for the analysis of the jaw bone saying the results of testing?
The police have not released any forensic testing results. In the media articles on the motion to dismiss, details from the grand jury proceedings are discussed as part of the motion hearing, that is all. This info came from the Maui News article of February12, posted in the timeline I would think. I have linked it here a few times, just don't have the link in front of me right now.
The hearsay evidence was froman entomologist with knowledge about maggots; Scott's dentist, who compared dental records with the jawbones suspected to be hers; a Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command forensic anthropologist who did a trauma analysis on jawbones suspected to be Scott's; and a Honolulu Police Department DNA specialist who examined fingernails suspected to be Scott's.
If you remember, there was also testimony about defleshing a jawbone.

My read is that the jawbone(s) sustained trauma, but they were not so destroyed that dental record matching was impossible.

Yes, definitely walkable. The thing is, the police charged him with arson, which indicates to me that they have some evidence that he personally doused the vehicle with gasoline and lit the match.
He may very well have done so, but the crime of arson requires either committing the arson or causing someone else to do it. It does not require them to prove he did it personally. Same charge if someone did it for him. (I looked it up in Hawai'i Revised Statutes where arson crimes are defined.)

Today's discussion was really good, lots of sparks flying, lots of info and ideas. Thanks everyone!

Great discussions. I've been away & am catching up.
Here is a link to collected summaries re the uses of various forms of lime for preservation and for hastening decomposition: please read and be patient with the sometimes contradictory material; there are some outstanding nuggets. I think this explains perfectly how the jawbone and some fingernails ( whole fingernails) could have been so "defleshed" and parted from the body in such an extremely short time. I'll explain what I think probably happened, but I think y'all can piece it together --

Thanks! I should have done my homework.

However, this would, IMHO, make it far less likely that he just abandoned the vehicle somewhere where he was confident that the people who do such things would strip it and torch it. And it brings us back to the "did he have an accomplice/accessory after the fact?" discussion. Put me down for a "no" on that until more evidence surfaces.

Her car was found front and center at the top of the Jaws field closest to the road. It could not have been any easier to find. It would have been easy to drive it down the empty dirt roads to any number of places that would have made it more difficult to locate. So either someone wanted it found or didnt care. Or had to walk home.

I 'm not famiar w/ the ins & outs of the ForeRunner, but couldn't a person hit with the backs of theur hands on some hot metal whilst trying to remove the grille? I think he could have done the grille removal and doors all by himself, too, especially if he had a light & tools, or even " light tools" ;) ... Anybody want to test that on a hot ForeRunner?

I wont lie when I say Im confused. Am I correct in remembering the Jaws area was searched once and the SUV showed up later?
Peter and Kapua,
I must have read it on the Find Charli page because I cannot locate in any msm articles, but I definitely recall the point being made way back when.

But definitely not 3 days.

Maybe not an entire body, but certain parts, under certain conditions, could decompose in a very, very short period of time.

I still think she was burned. :( JMO.

The grill was a crisscross pattern and the skull wast all that big. The grill would have left that crisscross pattern burn. symmetrical?

Can his infamous interview be used in court?

Was that specialty grill actually metal? I've always assumed it was the typical plastic that most car trim pieces are made of.

I'm reading back through the threads.
The accomplice theory...how the heck did her vehicle end of on it's side? Could scrawny SC do it alone?
What were the parts that someone came forward about. The skull, doors and tires were gone. Are there prints on these parts, Evidence?
ah the landlord. Was it really he was a bit senile or was it SC taking items out of her house? The stolen baby toys?!

It was specially made for her by her stepfather, Johnny, so I assume it was metal. IIRC, Johnny talks about it in the Discovery espisode. Sorry, no verification link. Jmo.

Good question. I don't know the legalities, but the public only read the transcription as he didn't want his voice going out over the airwaves. I assume the interview is recorded, though. I would think if it's in his voice it could be used as evidence in court.
Short answer = I dunno.

I wonder when the folks who had the grill acquired it, and, of course, how... Also, in removing the grill, it would likely be hot, adjacent parts of the engine etc., which would burn the back of the hands, so it doesn't matter what it looks like or what it's made of, I'm thinkin...

It's possible that the SUV tipped over as a result of being burned. Or that a group of people tipped it over after it was burned.

The Scott family members can take the stand and testify to what SC told them directly. KS stated in the video link that his story changed. IIRC, she said that his story changed 4 times. BTW, I also reviewed quite a few of the archived MSM links and I could not find a reference to either the clothing or the truck being found in previously searched areas. Both the clothing and truck were found within 4-5 days of her disappearance. For the record, I don't think the clothing was planted or placed with the intention that it would be found. I think SC's focus was to destroy any evidence that would lead back to him and that he is lazy and careless. JMHO.
