Im not seeing it. The stream or the resemblance in the skull painting on his Instagram.. I can see how you can infer Keanae peninsula with the out cropping but I can see a lot in any abstract form

I'm not sure what you mean? You can or can't see a lot? Is that a spelling error?
I'm confused because YOU originally saw the sunglasses pic. Can you clarify.

I forgot that Apo was not the original attorney on this case. It was handed to him after 30+ witnesses posed a conflict with the original attorney defending them in one way or another. I think he knows he's guilty and is willing to lose a case.

Hmmmmm...I think he's trying to show MPD to be bumblers and inept. We'll find out.

Maybe you're right mamma. I didn't hear what he said. But why on earth would he mention DNA evidence that he fought to keep out?

?quien sabe? Possibly something else incriminating has come up and Apo is trying to head them off at the pass.
Where is Pua when we need her?

Yes, the hair in the jeans pocket was missed on the initial examination BUT imagine the blacklash against MPD and insinuation of police contamination if that DNA was allowed in. Because the money required to fund the DNA testing took a certain amount of protocol and procedure, time ran out. Perhaps Jdg Cardoza feels the case against SC is strong enough without the hair/DNA.

Yes, I agree, I think he is taking the old "mishandling of evidence" approach. I think he should have avoided any mention of the hair, but maybe it was mentioned during direct examination.

We're back live!

For those of you not able to watch live, an officer testified about the Bank of Hawai'i Paia branch video that shows a silver, lifted 4Runner driving past at 6:41 Am Feb 9.

Feb 24 they recovered the grill to Charli's vehicle in what he seems to be describing as a homeless encampment. It was burnt.

Akaku officials said they plan to continue live courtroom coverage for the duration of the trial.

"The people of Maui County have an immense amount of interest in this particular trial, and we thought it was important to provide a platform where the community can stay informed and updated," said Dan O'Brien, Akaku's director of production.

Thank you Dan O'Brien

He said a green smart phone case that was “covered in mud” was recovered from the rear passenger floorboard, and was entered into evidence.

--------------------------------------

“We followed a 4-wheel-drive trail through cane grass from where the vehicle was found towards the West Maui mountains,” said Det. Adachi, who noted that there were lots of trails that were searched by other department members. “I took one trail and started walking on that trail,” said Det. Adachi.

“I found large, from of what it looked like, women’s sunglasses. It was clean. It wasn’t covered in dirt or dust. It looked like it had just been dropped there,” said Det. Adachi, who photographed where it was and turned the item over to evidence. The sunglasses were brown and were found laying in the grass, according to testimony.

New information!

And check this out, again from today's Maui Now article:

Hanchett has a small fruit and vegetable farm on a property left to her by her grandfather, located about a mile past the Hasegawa General Store on the mauka side of the highway.

According to Hanchett’s testimony, she drove into Hāna from Wailuku that Sunday morning and did not notice any cars that were broken down or on the side of the road in the Keʻanae area. When asked how sure she was, Hanchett replied, “I’m very sure.”

That makes 5 witnesses plus the surveillance tape at BOH that contradict SC's broken-down truck story.

The Alibi Busters:
1. Carlos Young testified that SC drove his 4Runner to work on Sunday Feb. 9.
2. Kurt Kaiser testified that SC told him that his backpack was in his 4Runner at Mana Foods that day and he could go get it.
3. Shelly Tumbaga testified that she saw his vehicle on Hana Hwy. near Kailua between 11:45 and midnight on Saturday Feb. 8.
4. And Jennifer Taylor, as you mentioned, testified that she didn't see any broken-down vehicles on her way to Hana on Sunday morning, Feb. 9.5.
5. Traci Hanchett testified that she drove from Wailuku to Hana on the morning of Sunday, feb. 9 and did not see any broken –down vehicles near Keanae.
6. Bank of Hawai’I Paia branch video shows a lifted, silver 4Runner driving toward the Mana Foods parking lot on Sunday morning, Feb. 9 at 6:41 AM.

This is not going to be good for Apo. Not only is he getting paid peanuts by the State but if he loses who will want to hire him?

As far as the White sunglasses in the Skull painting goes...let me reiterate that in an abstract way you can see anything you want in a picture. You can do the same thing in nature. Some people see Jesus on a burnt piece of toast. I dont think it is strong enough to pursue any angles. Its not that obvious.

and yet there is still a difficult person on the jury. "How could the officer tell it was silver and was he on duty and did he actually see in person the 4runner drive past the bank. Someone is being difficult and obtuse.

And this is the person who needs the DNA evidence.

Bet you anything it's the "school teacher" looking lady in the front row of the jury box or the asian Tom Selleck in the 2nd row.

And this is the person who needs the DNA evidence.
I, too, have been concerned that there is at least one juror who asks questions that indicate he/she is buying into Apo's opening statement that SC is being framed. I have served on a jury before, and I can attest that one needn't be very bright to be picked for a jury.
