Children have cut off fingers (on their own?? Purposely??) and parents haven't taken them to the hospital?? That I do not understand. I think I'd run the risk of having a big hospital bill as opposed to my child possibly DYING.
Even if the parents hid this, wouldn't someone else (relatives, friends, neighbors) notice a child missing six fingers?? This is so bizarre.
My daughter fell carrying an UNOPENED can of soup. It was a "crushing injury."
It crushed the finger and cut it off because she landed on the can, (had a ring on her chest) the can landed on the finger. *shudder*
The little boy who had his hand amputated because Dad super glued his finger back on, had cut his off with an OPEN can trying to grab a toy.
I'm not suggesting the child intentionally cut off the fingers.
I'm suggesting that maybe the child got in the way while someone was working. Chopping vegetables or something? Using tools?
My Dad cut his thumb off with a table saw. (Yes, this is obviously a genetic thing in our family.)
Then after it happened, for whatever reason... money, CPS, simply being cheap, they weren't taken in and were just bandaged up to heal..
I know 6 fingers make it less likely, but it's still possible as far as I'm concerned. Anything is possible.
The way my daughter cut off her finger would have sounded pretty crazy to me if I hadn't seen it too.
The doctors said they see opened can slices all the time, but not unopened ones. Dull object, crushing amputations are not common at all. :twocents:
