I don't think it was his nephew who found his boot, but KD, an employee.

I thought the first one was found by an employee and the second, his nephew.

I rewatched the video. KD found the first one in the grass. The one in the rocks was the second one found by KF. The rock one looks almost hidden. I don't know how anyone would have noticed it but I can see why they didn't see it the first time. If someone harmed him, why put the boot in the grass after the area had been searched? Is it some kind of "message" to warn others of potential harm?

I appreciate all the questions being asked. It is tough not to be able to get answers to any of them, even the most basic, such as an explanation of the texts.

That was a good question someone asked about the truck really being stuck in the mud. It seems to me that Jeff has lived there long enough that he is not going to go and get himself stuck but I dont know the layout of the land, anything is possible.

The other thing I dont understand is his wife said he was going to clear the property. I cant imagine that being a single person job with as overgrown as I know it can get in areas over there.

No sign of struggle whatsoever. Jeff would have fought tooth and nail unless like someone stated he was blind sided or knew the person who did it.

Or if he was never there at that location there would also be no sign of struggle. Does anyone else think that whatever happened to him possibly happened at another location and the truck was just staged on the property?

If his truck was stuck in the mud then you would think there would have been footprints from at least jeff walking to his tire to check it out. The police never mention anything about another set of prints. They never mention any other tire tracks. I myself thought if Jeff had got stuck he would have tried to shove some wood or something under the tire to try and get it unstuck before he just walked away. Was there any evidence of that?

For the love of God why were tracking dogs not brought on to the scene. In my mind that is the first thing that should have been done. Even before all these people started searching. Tracking dogs first that way you dont have a large group of people walking along possibly destroying any other evidence there may have been. Is LE really that 🤬🤬🤬 backwards in that area?

I have such a strong feeling that this crime did not take place on the property and the truck was placed there after. But LEE emphatically states it was not the nephew so I have to go with her on this. Because if it was staged then the Jeff would not have called the nephew and stated he was stuck in the mud. The only thing i can think is that the nephew is saying that jeff called him and told him to come help him and he actually did not receive a phone call but a text. Who knows. None of it is very clear and concise reporting of the facts in my opinion.

My wife was telling me that if I had disappeared such as this she would be on any media outlets possible asking for answers or witnesses or clues. She would be scouring the internet for any comments people were making, hoping to read something that would help. I dont understand why his wife is not on this website doing just that, helping us to do everything we can to find her husband. Maybe she is watching from the sidelines but she would have the best answers to many of the questions that would help lead us to Jeff.

I am not trying to point fingers, there is no evidence to suggest his wife had anything to do with it, but damn he has still not been found. I think everyone around Jeff should be looked at as a suspect until they are cleared. If that helps get some answers then why not. If the person is innocent then there is nothing for them to worry about. I cannot say how I would react in his wife's situation but I just feel I would have to be doing everything possible to find my spouse. Which would include scouring the internet.

To all the people that are trying to tiptoe around asking the questions they feel may be offensive towards the missing or his family and friends please dont be hesitant to ask anything that may help. It is not the easy questions that we are going to find any answers with or we would have already had the answers. More in depth questions, however personal they may be, need to be asked in order to get to the true facts of this case.

Thanks again Dave ~ your input here's is invaluable.

You opened the door so I'm going to walk through it.

My first thought was the nephew. Maybe he lived with them and maybe they had some disagreements. It just seems strange to me that jeff would send a text to nephew and sign it mary. Wtf?

My second thought was Mary. Did she f-up and accidentally sign her name to the text she was sending as if she were Jeff?

I'm leaning more towards the latter since nephew is married.

As a general rule here we are not allowed to discuss social media comments that don't come from news sources but since it has been mentioned a couple times I will report that I read on a family members FB page that search dogs were brought in and they found nothing.

Ok then. I want to know more about his relationship with the wife.
I am confused by her silence.
Perhaps I am misunderstanding the facts.

Glad to see Hawaii News Now has an update.
http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/story/...-businessman-continues-family-fears-foul-play

From the article:
Both Meek's mother and his wife, who is five-months pregnant with their second child, say they've called his cell phone several times since he went missing. They say it usually never connects and investigators told them it was dead -- but two nights ago, it went to his voicemail. It's another baffling detail that has family members and friends wondering if 43-year-old Jeff Meek may be the victim of foul play.

Thanks for the article update. Finally some new news. It is strange to me that the investigators had said the phone was dead. Usually when my phone is dead or even broken it still goes through to the voicemail. I dont understand why it has not been doing that. Also, did the police request a ping on that phone as soon as the mother contacted them and let them know she was able to reach his voicemail? They dont say there was any action taken by the police.

TC_MN Leaning towards the latter, the wife not the nephew. I am going to put it out there myself and from what I know I am going to have to agree. I am not anywhere near saying she did it but I just feel she has more knowledge about the incident then she is letting on. I hope the family does not condemn me for making that statement. But then again I would think the investigators would have looked at that angle already. Who knows. I dont understand her silence at all. Now in the article she has given up hope and for some reason feels he is in the water. That thought crossed my mind when i first found out but there were helicopter searches and I believe if he was in the water they would have found him already.

Lucky181 thank you for the info on the canines. I know there is alot of rain there but I wold think the canines could still pickup a scent. Did you read if they were able to track anything? Like I said in earlier post, maybe he was never even at that location.

I noticed that the mother referred to him in the past tense. She said "He was....." three different times.

I'm not suggesting she is involved in this in any way. I just believe this may be a good indicator that they believe he is dead. :(

I agree with you to a point. I believe the mother is starting to accept the fact that is the most likely outcome at this point. But unlike the wife she is very subtle about it, the wife is way to graphic for my liking. Rubio had said in one of his posts that she was quiet, shy. I would have to agree to a point. I lived with them for a while before the moved to Hawaii. What she said is out of character in my opinion. To graphic, to extreme.

Sources say police are looking into possible business associates who may have had issues with Meek. Hawai'i Island PD is asking anyone who may have seen Meek in the Pepeekeo area before his disappearance to contact Detective Wendall Carter at 808-961-2378 or email him at [email protected]. Anyone with an anonymous tip about Meek's whereabouts can also contact Crimestoppers at # (808) 961-8300. Information leading to his whereabouts could lead to a $1,000 reward.

I would also like to add that I too, give my deepest sympathies to those of you posting here that have had a personal connection to Jeff.
I can only imagine how difficult this is on friends and family

I am not very tech savy
If a phone was in the water all of this time, would it go to voice mail?
And why would a phone that wouldn't connect suddenly start going to voice mail?

I can't seem to get anything straight in my mind about this case

Unless reporting has been bad, we know Jeff CALLED his nephew to tell him he was stuck
So, if in fact that is true, I don't believe the truck being stuck was staged.
At that moment things could have been exactly as Jeff stated.. truck stuck in the mud.. needed help

From that point on, all communication between nephew and Jeff was texts
I know I have said this numerous times, but why text someone who is coming to help you get your truck out and tell them you were going someplace to cools off?
This guy is coming to help you and you take off? Wouldn't you wait? Don't you need help with the truck?
I suppose one could suggest he walked for awhile to cool off and had an accident, planned to return in awhile to meet up with nephew but fell etc and couldn't.
But why has no one found anything except strangely placed boots?

The problem with a text is anyone that has your phone can use it to text as you
But there was no struggle noticed around the truck, no extra footprints or tire marks that we are aware of
He was not there so if someone got to him around that truck, there would be evidence of it

Why are we only seeing Jeffs texts, the responses may make things more clear

When nephew arrived and Jeff wasn't there, did nephew try to text him?

Did Mary text him that afternoon and evening?

Is the terrain really rough?
Could he have had a fatal fall and they can't find him?

But.. what about the boots...

"Since we have not found him and we have no clues up to this point as to where he might be, then we have no other choice but to start searching in the direction of foul play. If you have any information, as far as what could've happened to Jeff or any prior arguments that may have occurred that maybe somebody might have known of or someone might have seen -- we would very appreciate deeply if they would come forward and speak out," said Field.

If his nephew was coming to help get his truck out of the mud, wouldn't his nephew have driven his own truck right up to Jeff's truck? There would have been the nephew's tire marks. It looks like tall grass so maybe there really would only be some kind of path of beaten down grass. However, if his nephew was concerned about getting stuck himself he could have parked on a near by roadway and walked to Jeff's truck. Perhaps he was only going to push Jeff's truck while Jeff steered rather than tow it out?????

But then we have video of Jeff's friend saying it was difficult to see the truck, almost as if it was hidden. Was it visible from the road below the lot?

Was Jeff forced to call his nephew and say his truck was stuck? We don't know if his nephew answered the call or if Jeff left a voice mail.

What type of tools were found in the truck? His mother said nothing was taken. Plumbing tools or land clearing tools? He should have had a chain saw, weed wacker or something like that. A weed wacker really doesn't make much sense when seeing how tall the grass is....20 acres?

No, it isn't that rough although I did read in the article that someone is going to mow the entire property to look for clues.
