Kauai police are asking for your help with finding a missing 22-year-old man visiting from Utah.

According to police, Jesse Pinegar was reported missing on April 13.

Pinegar flew to Hawaii from Utah for a vacation three months ago. He is believed to be somewhere on the north shore, possible in Kalalau Valley or working on a farm.

Pinegar’s father is currently on Kauai searching for his son. He is hoping that Jesse will call him <snip>.

Pinegar is of Caucasian descent. He has a light complexion and a medium build.

He has a tattoo of a Celtic Tree of Life on his right shoulder and a Celtic bear tattoo on his left abdomen.

Just saw this case mentioned quickly on Nancy Grace. Is there a discussion thread, or is this it?

The trail that he was camping near was considered one of the top ten most-dangerous trails in America for 2008 by Backpacker Magazine. That's the same year he went missing. My research into the region discovered that rogue waves happened.

Oh my. I'm guessing he didn't know that at the time, or if he did, he took a risk. Sometimes a bit of local research is prudent, especially with trails and camping.....

His father "believes Pinegar possibly slipped and fell off a cliff. He also did not rule out the possibility of foul play at the hands of an illegal camper on the trail.

Pinegar is one of many other people who disappeared here..."

IMO, his sister also implied the family didn't receive the help searching for him that they needed/would have hoped for.

,,Jesse Glen Pinegar flew to Hawaii from his home in Orem, Utah for a vacation in January 2008. He hiked into the Kalalau Valley and set up a campsite five miles from the trailhead. He stayed in contact with his family by cellular phone. His family last heard from him on March 24, 2008. He told them he was going to take one last hike before coming back home to attend a family event. He has never been seen again. After his disappearance, another hiker found Pinegar’s campsite abandoned with all his personal belongings, including his clothing, camping equipment and Ipod, only his wallet, cellular phone and backpack were missing. His case remains unsolved.>>
