Maui police looking for missing man in Kaupo

Maui police and firefighters are searching for a missing man who was last seen in Kaupo. John Flavin, 44, was last seen sleeping in his car at a campsite called Plenty Kiawe on July 4. Friends noticed him missing at around 9 a.m. but his car was still at the campsite, police said. Firefighters conducted an aerial search of the area but were unable to locate him.

The Criminal Investigation Division is conducting an investigation into the incident, with an All Points Bulletin issued for John Flavin...

Flavin is described as a Caucasian male weighing 190 pounds, 5’8″ in height, with hazel eyes and brown hair. He was last wearing a dark colored t-shirt and tan shorts. His last known address was in Kula.

Circumstances of Disappearance John Flavin disappeared sometime between midnight and 0600 hours on 07/04/2014 while camping at a location called "Plenty Kiawe" located at Mile Post Marker 30 along Highway 31 near Hana, Maui. Searches conducted from the air, ground, and on the ocean did not result in locating Flavin.
