The status hearing is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. in Decatur County. Channel 4 will be live streaming the hearing.

Interestingly, that article states that no body has been found. I wonder if this is just an assumption on the authors behalf?

Also, what will happen at this hearing today? I know he has to confirm who his lawyer will be right? But other than that can we expect to find out any future dates for the trial?

What happened to if you can't afford a lawyer one will be appointed for you? I'm ready to see the ball rolling in this case! He has been in jail for a month. That's a month of expenses he has already cost the people of TN. Appoint a lawyer, start setting dates, it's time he is held responsible for his actions.

I guess Grandaddy didn't pay the lawyer. IMO if she hadn't already agreed to appear before this Judge today she'd still be in Nashville. All I got out of that live feed was him telling her she's all in or all out. And can't withdraw when the money runs out so to speak. I believe they could hock all of Adams Lane and still not have enough to finance this trial. JMO's

If my memory is correct, in the last court appearance the Judge ordered Nashville, TN Defense Attorney Jennifer Lynn Thompson to make a decision as too whether she was going to represent Zachary Rye Adams by today's hearing...

I agree. It was my impression that was the whole purpose. I guess what ticks me off about this hearing the most is, Zach has been in this jail, appeared before the same Judges and DA's for years. Like 10 years. By now they should know his jail uniform and shoe size by memory. They have to know they cannot remotely afford the defense fees for a trial to defend him. JMO's

I think that is an assumption on the part of the reporter. It is an editorial statement with no quotes from the actual DA.

The DA has refused to answer that question when asked by any of the media, and imo he will continue to refuse to answer it either way.

The next scheduled court date for Zach Adams is April 30, 2014 at 1:00pm.

It seems by the Prosecutor's statements that they have been investigating Zach Adams all along during the entire time from when Holly went missing until he was arrested and charged.

I bet they have amassed a voluminous amount of evidence against him.

McGinley set another status hearing for Adams to be held at 1 p.m. on April 30. For all future appearances, McGinley said, Adams will be required to be present.

The judge said that until Thompson is officially retained, she is not allowed to engage in discovery of evidence. On the other hand, he urged the prosecution to begin compiling all discovery.


An attorney for the district attorney's office said the discovery the office has gathered over three years is "voluminous."

During Wednesday's hearing, the state warned that they have three years of evidence and that it may take some time to comb through.

According to the state, they have so much discovery that they have an employee totally dedicated to sorting through it.

However, the state says they refuse to do any kind of discovery until Adams officially retains a lawyer.
