Home Improvement's Zachery Bryan Arrested and Charged for Allegedly Strangling Woman

A Eugene Police Department spokesperson tells PEOPLE that officers arrived on the scene at an Oregon home shortly after 10:00 p.m. local time on Friday after receiving a call from neighbors. Upon arriving, officers found Bryan, 39, “sitting outside an apartment” while the victim, whom police identified as a 27-year-old woman who has been “in a relationship” with Bryan, was at a neighboring apartment.

“An investigation found that during the dispute Bryan is reported to have assaulted the victim, impeded her breathing, and taken the victim’s phone from her when she tried to call 911,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

Bryan was then “taken into custody without incident” on charges of strangulation, fourth-degree assault and interfering with making a report.

According to online jail records, Bryan was booked at Lane County Jail on Saturday shortly after 1 a.m. He appears to still be in custody.

An attorney for Bryan did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

From article above:

Two weeks before his arrest, Bryan announced that he and wife Carly, with whom he shares four children, had split.

“Almost Fourteen years as best friends, soulmates, partners and then parents. It has been an incredible journey, but together, we’ve decided to turn the page and move on from our marriage,” he wrote in the Oct. 1 post. [...]

The pair welcomed their youngest child, son PM, last March. They are also parents to daughters JN and twins GR and TS.

He's out on bail already. Apparently you can strangle someone and just pay a few thousand dollars to get outta jail. No biggie.

RSBM. In the article I cited above, it states that his divorce announcement was plagiarized -- stolen from another person's social media! Who plagiarizes their divorce announcement?

"...Zachery Ty Bryan posted a message to social media in regard to his marital status. In the post, the actor announced that he and his wife of 14 years, Carly Matros, were divorcing. He referred to them as having been “friends, soulmates, partners and then parents” and asked fans for privacy during the proceedings.

"However, a few people took notice of the message and found it be plagiarized from a social media message released by actor Armie Hammer. This past summer, Hammer and his wife, Elizabeth Chambers, announced that they would be divorcing, and Zachery Ty Bryan’s message bore a strong resemblance to Hammer's. Around the time people across the internet began chatting about the message, Bryan deleted his own announcement."

Sheesh. I guess success doesn’t yield self-control does it? What a way to screw it ALL up. Imo. I hope his girlfriend (mistress?) is recovering.

What in the world would be a reason to smile in this mugshot?

That smug simper shows he has no regret whatsoever and is confident he'll be out of jail in no time -- which he was. He looks in need of a psych evaluation, IMHO.

I hope his “gf” is in a safe place. Scary imo.

I agree. He looks unstable and likely to re-offend or even escalate his violent behavior.
