Homegate Hotel

That's odd to me. In adoptions I know of and read about, the new 'parents' are doing things for the birth mother. I can't remember a situation in which the birth mother was doing things for the 'parents'. KWIM?

I don't think that EJ would pay for the room if this were the case just that she would rent it out to be in her name so there is not any record of the people who took Gabriel from her.

IMO the people who EJ would have handed him off to would not be the new parents. The "agency" might have told her that but I thinkn that they would not have allowed EJ in on the full plan of what was going on with Gabriel. They may let her think she knows but they would cover themselves even with her. They wouldn't know for sure that EJ wouldn't talk when the pressure was on. The same with Tammi. She knows more than what she says but she doesn't know everything. They are only the first layer of many.

If there were people looking to cover their tracks, I would think they'd get a room themselves on the other side of town, or that the 'agency' would have.

Odd to have the birth mother get the room. Odd for the room to be at the same hotel or the hotel just across the parking lot.

Im confused on what was found in each room. Was all of EJ and Gabriel's stuff found in the Quality Inn room? Was the Homegate room empty or was stuff found in each room? A list of what was found in each room would help. The 2nd room???:banghead:

I'd also like to know if the pictures, which EJ may have taken to remind her of ppl she loved or may have taken to document G's link to his true family once he was older) were in the belongings she had with her when she was taken into custody. If not, that would certainly argue strongly for the idea that she stashed some of her stuff somewhere along the way. Who knows what may be stored and where? I have not seen the list of what was found at the hostel if anything but on her arrest record these pictures are definitely not included.

Here's what I'm thinking:

On Dec 21, she checked into Homegate, paying for 5 nights in advance.

On Dec 22, Homegate moved her to another room, and she took everything with her.

On Dec 26, her 5 nights being up, and Tammi and her friends calling her, she decided to take everything and move over to Quality where TPS and company wouldn't know where she was. They were giving her bad news. She didn't want to hear it.

On Dec 27, she leaves everything except the stuff in her backpack at Quality, gets on the bus, and goes.

I think when Tempe PD first wrote up their update page, they didn't know about the room change, and thought the 5 nights were Dec 22 (the date reported for a long time) through Dec 26. I think they just never went back and corrected their page when they found out about the Dec 21 check-in and the room change.

Now that makes sense! THANK YOU!

Wouldn't 5 nights be:

Dec 21-night 1
Dec 22-night 2
Dec 23-night 3
Dec 24-night 4
Dec 25-night 5

Was there a free night?

Those are the dates for the 5 nights she paid in advance for at Homegate in my scenario. Then Dec 26 at Quality Inn, paid separately.

In this video On Dec 26th the housekeeper thought she was gone and went into the room and found EJs room full of personal items the baby blanket, the high chair, basket of clothes, IPod Charger, toiletries, etc, do you think that EJ came back later and got this things and carried them with her to her new room at the Quality Inn..

If her plan was to stay 5 nights this was to be her last night what changed and made her stay another night at another hotel what could have caused a delay creating another nights stay.....

Do we have a detailed list of what was left behind at the Homegate? We do not really know what she had with her exactly on the trip, but we do know she had those pictures -- good point -- hmmn could EJ have purposely gone to the town the bus ticket took her to before Miami? Was there some connection made there? Some place to stash her valuables to include pics and possibly a larger sum of money? What happened to the stuff she left behind at the Homegate? and is there a list?

Thanks ~ this helps a lot! So that would also mean the last two photos were taken in the morning of 12/26 before she left Homegate, correct? MOO

Well that kills my theory lol. I forgot the housekeepers found her stuff on Dec 26.

Thanks for pointing that out, capt.

I guess my scenario could work with her taking only some stuff over to Quality.

Maybe with the things Tammi and Tammi's friends were saying to her on the phone she just didn't want to hear from them any more, got scared they'd track her to the hotel room, and moved to Quality. But if she didn't want to be found, it would make more sense if she moved across town rather than just across the parking lot.

I just don't know. Maybe her thinking had really deteriorated by that point, and we're just seeing the results of that fragmentation, and trying to apply logic where it no longer existed. We know by the next morning, from the text and phone call, that no matter what happened, her thinking was skewed.

I haven't seen a list that had her family photos on it and I looked back through alot of posts to see if I could find one. I don't know if anything was in the hostel but seeing as those pictures are her only connection to the family she had, and she cared enough to take them along with her to SA, if they aren't in the hostel, then I am sure she stashed her most protected stuff somewhere. I agree the money could be there too. So could the laptop. I suppose a locker at a busstop could have EJ's belongings in it but I can't shake the idea that she may not have stayed on that bus. I just have to believe that if she rode it, there would be more witnesses confirming her activities/mood/conversations along the way. And in keeping with the "fake football pass" approach they've taken with every other move made, it seems likely that if she left an obvious trail (i.e. such as buying a bus ticket for a specific trip to Florida), then it seems likely she actually used another mode of transport. Boarding the bus and possibly getting off somewhere along the way. Then there's that GPS she had in Florida which makes me think she might have needed it to finish her journey some other way. I am so Off topic; my apologies!

Well, capt pointed out that the housekeepers found her stuff in her room and that they thought she was gone. The housekeepers would have known she was supposed to check out that day. It would have been on their list of rooms to clean as a checkout.

They probably kept knocking and getting no answer and finally used their keys to open the door. That's what they finally have to do - they can't leave for the day until all their rooms are clean, and if they get no answer on a checkout, after checkout time passes, they'll open it up and go in.

Seeing all her stuff there, they'd have had to call the front desk to verify with the manager if they should remove all her belongings to storage, or throw them in the trash, or if she had stopped by the front desk and paid for another night.

It would have been unusual for someone to leave that much stuff, and it put a wrinkle in the housekeeper's routine - added to her workload - that's why they remembered it. Most likely they had to get some carts and boxes from maintenance.

Yes, yes I did once work as a maid at a hotel lol. Many many years ago. The process wouldn't have changed though.

I'm thinking out loud here lol. Been a very long time since I did that stint. Checkout time is usually 11am. I doubt housekeeping waited past 12pm to go into the room, and most likely they knocked earlier. You have to do checkouts before stayovers so the rooms can be rented out. They're more physically tiring to do than stayovers, and there's a push to get them all done, so you don't wait long to open the door and go in.

That would make the pics morning before 11am. Housekeeping didn't see her leave though, and they were likely hovering near the room, so probably by 10am for the pics.

There's a very long possible answer to what time the pics were taken :-)

All Elizabeth's belongings were found.

Or took the laptop with her on the trip to FL or gave it to her adoption coordinator (TS) for safe handling or hiding.

ALSO, I've raised this idea on one of the other threads but here goes again. It seems to me those photos of her family had some emotional significance to her and I can not imagine her leaving them or throwing them away but... as far I know, they have not appeared on a list of items belonging to EJ--not left in the room and not on her when she was apprehended. I haven't seen a list of items that might have been secured from the hostel but if they are not in the items found there, I'd say it's a good bet they were in that backpack, along with the computer and have been hidden somewhere. Perhaps with some cash. Is there a list of everything that was left in the hotel or the hostel that includes the photos? I have only seen lists that are not comprehensive and itemize her left belongings in a non-specific way such as "baby items including a portable crib, hospital band, and clothing." If the items that are continually listed are really all that was left, it suggests to me that the adoptive parents left them or told EJ they had no need for them.

Except that diaper bag, right?

I was referring to Elizabeth's belongings, not Gabe's. Questions regarding the diaper bag can't be addressed at this time, but b4e has already added that question to the Questions for the Family thread.

I think this timeline is what's confusing me ~ so your long answer is very much appreciated! It seems strange that the hand-off would've occurred at this time of day, when housekeeping would be coming around, and also that neither EJ or anybody else was seen leaving the room. So if these 'adoptive parents' or whoever had come by or EJ/Gabriel left there, it would be early in the morning. Just seems a little odd, imo, instead of waiting until later in the day when there's not so much activity around. MOO
