How Did the Side Door Get Opened?/Door Locks/Use of Cinder Block**REVISITED**

Yes. The light was on and when she got up to go to the bathroom...she noticed it. When she walked around the corner is when she noticed the backdoor was open. She went to check the kids to find Haleigh missing. (IIRC!!)

Just because MC stated this, does not mean it's true. May be, may not be. It's curious she didn't use the bathroom closest to her and left the bedroom to use another. Besides, she had also said she got up to get a drink. Nothing makes sense to me. Why would an abducter turn a light on? Sure maybe to test the waters, but what about the possibility of someone seeing in the window? Any one of the neighbors could've easily seen in and witnessed an abduction. IMO, STAGED.

It would be interesting to see if investigators found the source of the cinder block to be in this location:

GRACE: Do you know where the cinderblock came from that was propping the door open?

CUMMINGS: Don`t have a clue. I don`t mess with none of that, so I don`t
know. I very rarely am in the back yard at all unless I`m washing my
car. So it could have came from around my shed. I`m renting. I don`t
know if the previous renters had it or what, but I`ve never seen it, I
don`t believe.
GRACE: So to your knowledge, you`ve never seen it.
CUMMINGS: Not that I believe. I mean, I may be mistaken and have seen it before, but I know it wasn`t where it`s at now.

I wonder to about this little tid bit. I would have to agree it was a planned action to prop the screen door open, to make no noise and be an easier exit for the "abductor", but, if the "abductor" was not worried about using and leaving the kitchen light on why would they consider rushing out and leaving all the signs of entry to be discovered so quickly by Ron returning from work unless they thought they had woken someone( Misty or Jr.)?

(bold part)
That would explain some things.

I think it is funny, IMO that RC's attorney's theory, or whatever they are calling it, contridicts what RC told investigators the night that HC went missing or his statement to LE regarding HC's disappearance. Didn't he tell investigators that he was sure the deadbolt was locked, before he left for work, and even offered that someone "bumped" the lock?

This office has provided to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Children and Families confidential memos dated April 1, April 6th, and April 17, 2009, that addressed these issues in great detail and correlated this to the crime scene which showed no signs of forced entry and the fact that Haleigh would have unlocked the door for a family member. The crime scene also featured a door propped open as if staged. A stranger perpetrator would likely have left the door shut to gain time for escape. This supports the notion that someone was trying to divert attention from himself or herself.

Besides, lil momma, are we the least surprised if RC's attorney and/or his press releases would try to shift the focus, to implicate others or point the finger away from his own client lol...? I mean, isn't that what they're paid to do? JMO :waitasec:

I thought HaLeigh couldnt reach the lock? Thats what Ron said.

I thought HaLeigh couldnt reach the lock? Thats what Ron said.

Not only did he say it, he said he installed it deliberately that way in order to prevent it being opened by a child.

It is Moo that Misty staged that door after finding Haleigh missing. Did she have help that I do not know, but I believe whole heartedly she staged it, and I also believe she was not at home. JMO of course

Maybe I'm dense, but this portion:

"The crime scene also featured a door propped open as if staged. A stranger perpetrator would likely have left the door shut to gain time for escape. This supports the notion that someone was trying to divert attention from himself or herself."

doesn't make sense to me. Are they trying to say a stranger would have closed the door behind him/her?

Yeah, because usually a stranger abduction doesn't leave look at me signs all around the place they just abducted a child- this abductor, if there is one, even turned a light on.

Hey, I have a question- would it be possible via like light bills to determine what time the light in the kitchen turned on?

lol....wouldn't that be something. If this was possible I wouldn't have to question my children as to who turned on the bathroom light and why it was left on....lol. I have never ever heard if something like that was possible.

Here's a lnk to an interview with a former tenant, Dr. Jessie Smallwood (a pastor) where he talks about the door and it's lock.

He says the door sticks and makes a scraping noise.
He and a friend installed a sliding bolt up too high for his son to reach.

:waitasec:RC said he locked the deadbolt before he left for work because it was very hard to do, it took strength to pull the door shut enough to get it to catch.
Ron states over and over he worked an 8 hr shift, has anyone gotten a time-line yet as to what time he left the house?

I recall around 4:30pm, but not sure. And have many questions as to who all was there at home when Ron left? That 8 hrs is very questionable and I feel has been over looked somewhat. OK, back on topic.

RC also stated the lock was installed by him and that he put it up high enough so that Haleigh could not reach it.

I also wonder if RC did this because Haleigh had a habit of unlocking doors and going out by herself from what I have also heard in other interviews.

I would like to know who all had a key to the MH?

Who would of opened it if Ron locked it and Misty claims it was closed she was doing laundry and it was closed?

Also, did anyone ever find out if the A/C man was gone before Ron went to work?

Or was the A/C there when Misty's brother came over?

Or, does anyone know if the A/C man is related to either side of the family?

I know it's been stated over and over that the only person cleared is the A/C guy, but I still wonder what his relationship was with Misty and or Ron.

One of the big things that bother me is when I read the 911 call transcription, was Misty is clearly describing the front entrance. Lots of people had excuses, but I don't buy it. She also had to go see, when the operator ask her, "is the back door still open"? I thought maybe she knew what was supposed to be done, but got confused and had to look to make sure.

Could you please provide a link where RC states that he installed the lock and he put it up high by him so that Haleigh could not reach it? Only thing I have found is a comment by tenant from 10 years ago about a sliding lock, and a comment from Sheffields about the lock being high. I have yet to find anything where RC states the lock is high. Also links where RC states over and over he worked 8 hour shift? I have seen one quote from a pastor stating RC worked 8 hours, have not found anything with RC stating he worked an eight hour shift. TIA

I thought what she went to check was if the door had damage on it like someone forced their way in not if it was still open, I will have to go listen again.

That's how I read it - the attorney is saying:

1. An open door could be seen and result in someone calling LE

2. A stranger would want time to escape and, therefore, would not have left the door open.

My question is - wouldn't any abductor have wanted time to escape ?

IMO, the attorney's logic is flawed.

Busy, IIRC, there was an interview on NG early on wherein RC and TN talked about the lock.
