How do you feel about the memorial service planned for Caylee?

I don't think any parent would. Parents take grandchildren everyday in the courts to protect them. The Anthonys KNEW.

That is the worst part about this, Caylee had all those cutie things, but NO ONE to really care for her. She appeared to be nothing but a POSSESSION to ALL of them.

I couldn't disagree with you more..I think she is truly loved by them..assuming a child is a "possession" is harsh..IMO

The States Attorney doesn't have the authority to appoint a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) in a criminal case. Neither does the Judge. This is a criminal case; People of the State of Florida v. Casey Marie Anthony. What you are talking about is a probate case and guardian of the estate of a minor child. That is about property rights. There is also a probate case regarding wardship; guardian of the person. One can be a guardian of a person and an estate. So, there is no GAL in a criminal case.

OH YES THEY DO!! My son was appointed one in the felony child abuse case against my husband in Orange County Orlando in 1987!! Judge AND State Attorney BOTH requested/ordered one and it was the best thing that ever happened for my son!

They had VERY, VERY good reason to suspect that Caylee might not be in good hands & yet they thought sitting on THEIR AZZES hoping for the best was sufficient to keep that baby safe.

If they wanted to let Casey have a month off to get her act together, it's understandable. It will NEVER be understandable who they could allow a baby to be used as a PAWN by a sociopath.

Sorry, they sound pretty guilty of child endangerment to me.... NOT just some innocent victims/bystanders in this death.

Done in a respectful manner there is nothing wrong with people having a memorial for Caylee. That being said, we all know this will provide the A's another moment of high drama, threats and ramblings.

Caylee IS part of them, if you were in their position would YOU(meaning anyone) stay away ? Caylee is not part of their family but they FEEL she is....... they have to remember she isn't !

Juvenile court has the authority. I just talked to the DA's office.

Juvenile court can in a felony case with or without the State Attorney's blessing. The judge can appoint a Guardian Ad Litem. This is not a "guardian" of an estate - they are 2 different things. Turbo is right! My son's case is fact - and proof. He is right. How do I write? to what address?

Also this is not the "Family Memorial Service" this is an informal Memorial to a little girl who has garnered more media coverage than any other missing child in HISTORY, and she deserves SOMETHING for HER.

But if you look up "Memorial SERVICE" the accepted connotation is definitely in regards to a deceased person.

All this 'drama' could have been avoided if he announced a "Vigil".... it seems appropriate to question whether there was an ulterior motive here or not.

Caylee has not been pronounced dead.
It has not been accepted as fact by a jury of Casey's peers.
And the family has not accepted it as fact at this point.

If my husband was missing, and I either truly held out a shred of hope that he was alive or was apparantly mentally unstable and unable/unwilling to accept it and a non family member had a memorial, not a vigil or prayer gathering, for my spouse you would get very unflattering video of me as well.

I think it is in poor taste at a very emotional point in the case and accomplishes nothing. It is not bringing peace to anyone. It is upsetting the family and the searchers by pouring gas on the fire. Which brings more attention, more cameras, and more interviews.

Its been 5months since she went missing. That is just too soon. It should be at least a year if not longer.

So a memorial service is held AND then what ? she WILL start to fade from peoples minds BECAUSE That is just human nature , a memorial is TOO Final.

I do not believe she is alive, but there is no way a memorial should be held at this time
