In his testimony to the Oversight Committee on Wednesday, Ziegler identified himself as a 'gay Democrat married to a man,' and said his coming forward is not politically motivated.

Ziegler works in the international tax and financial crimes division and was the lead agent on the Hunter Biden investigation. He says that he acknowledges he is 'risking my career' by coming forward and said that he has been called a 'traitor to the Democratic Party.'

The whistleblower said that he was told he would get in 'hot water' if he tried to speak with President Joe Biden's adult grandchildren and was prevented from carrying out those interviews in his investigation.

'I've never been told that we could not approach someone to interview them as a part of an investigation,' he told Congress, noting the abnormal treatment or the probe when compared to investigations of other Americans.

Oversight Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., said: 'I know it was not easy to see their testimony about the DOJ-FBI investigation confirms that there's nothing normal about the Biden family.'

Marjorie Taylor Greene asked about Hunter Biden writing off taxes for costs related to escorts, prostitutes and sex clubs.

She presented evidence that Hunter Biden paid for tickets for an escort to come out from Los Angeles to meet him in Washington, D.C. in June 2018.

'If he was purchasing her a plane ticket for sex and traveling across state lines, do you believe that is a violation [of law]?' Greene questioned the two IRS whistleblowers on Wednesday.

She added that the 'west coast assistant' noted in Hunter Biden's tax filings was likely this person he allegedly flew out from Los Angeles for prostitution purposes.

'That's not what paralegals do,' Greene said to laughter from those watching the hearing in the room.

Joseph Ziegler, one of the whistleblowers, said that he found in the investigation that Hunter did deduct from his taxes payments that he claimed were for a golf club membership, but were actually for a sex club, as well as travel for escorts rather than assistants.

Shapley said the investigation's treatment was different from any other case during his 14-year stint with the agency.

"At every stage decisions were made that benefited the subject of this investigation," he said.

Hunter Biden improperly claimed business deductions for a range of personal expenses, Zeigler said, from his children's college tuition to stays for his drug dealer at a Hollywood hotel. In written testimony, he said he was denied a request to interview Hunter Biden’s adult children, alleging prosecutors said that would "get us into hot water."

IRS special agent Joseph Ziegler told the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday that Hunter Biden’s overseas influence peddling operations have enriched the First Family and their business associates to the tune of more than $17 million.

It’s now clear to me why he didn’t pay his taxes. It’s not because he’s a drug addict and it’s not because it was just an oversight . MOO

Hunter Biden agreed to a plea deal in June that will see him plead guilty on Wednesday to two misdemeanor counts of failing to pay federal income tax and he will admit to the facts in a firearms charge that will likely allow him to avoid jail time.

On the eve of Hunter Biden’s court appearance to enter into a plea deal for misdemeanor tax crimes that would allow him to avoid prison time, House Republicans and conservative groups sought to intervene in the case, urging a judge to throw out the agreement he reached with prosecutors.

Another brief was filed by the Heritage Foundation

Hunter Biden plea: Judge threatens sanctions on Biden attorneys for suspicious phone call.

A judge presiding over Hunter Biden's forthcoming plea agreement threatened to sanction his attorneys late Tuesday evening after a member of his legal team purportedly "misrepresented her identity" to court officials.

The younger Biden's legal team stands accused of misrepresenting themselves to remove a brief about IRS whistleblowers testimony from the Delaware federal court docket. U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika gave Biden's legal team until 9 p.m. on Tuesday to explain their position, according to a screenshot of the docket obtained by the Washington Examiner before it was later sealed.

I was trying to read this, but the reporting in this article is strange, difficult to understand. They never explain what anyone actually did to misrepresent themselves. What was the "suspicious phone call"? Can anyone translate? TIA

Court filings indicate that Jessica Bengels, an administrative staff member at Latham & Watkins, a firm representing Biden, called a member of the court clerk’s office just before noon Tuesday seeking the documents’ removal from the public docket, saying they contained secret details including social security, taxpayer and grand jury information.

But U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika, who is overseeing Biden’s case, later suggested Bengels had pretended to call from the committee chairman’s law firm. Noreika ordered Biden’s attorneys to submit in writing why they shouldn’t be sanctioned.

The judge called a second recess in the Hunter Biden plea proceedings as it appeared that the agreements the president's son had reached with prosecutors had begun to unravel.

The judge said she had "concerns" about the parties seemingly linking the tax plea agreement to the deal on the gun charge. During the proceedings, prosecutors confirmed that the investigation into President Joe Biden's son was ongoing.

The judge had been questioning the parties on the scope of the agreement.

Well of course they could always charge him later on unrelated issues. Was there some thing that said they couldn't?

Prosecutors and defense agree to revised plea deal for Hunter Biden.

The Hunter Biden plea proceedings have restarted and the president’s son has agreed to a limited agreement that covers 2014 to 2019 and only includes conduct related to tax offenses, drug use and gun possession.

President Joe Biden's son will still plead guilty to the tax misdemeanors for 2017 and 2018, but the agreement will also cover his tax-related conduct for the three years prior.

The two sides have agreed that this deal does not shield him from potential future charges.

The proceedings are ongoing.
