Well, we kinda expect Aunt Flo to visit monthly, but this long lost cousin Florence? She can leave and NEVER return! How scary that she may be coming back. She left enough devastation last time. Sigh. GO AWAY FLORENCE!!!

Tensions are really running high in my neighborhood. Stoney Creek has made the news every single day as the hardest hit devastated neighborhood. Now there is talk that the area will likely be declared uninhabitable and a forced buy out on the homes here. I'm so anxious and stressed.

What would this mean for your home, lonetraveler? Isn't your home OK? I do not even know what to say. I honestly cannot imagine the depth of the destruction and stress for everyone. I can to a point, but never having seen anything like this, let alone live in it's path, is really beyond my ability. I am so sorry you have to deal with such anxieties.

HUGS TO YOU!!!! Rebuilding is so hard. I know the fight, breaking your back ripping out flooring and tearing out walls and insulation basically taking a house down to studs, throwing out what was good furniture, needing new appliances, etc. Spending money to eat out because there are no utilities nor enough money to restock the entire fridge. It's so hard trying to continue to balance life on top of all this. It's been a 6 year struggle here and I'm still not home so I understand.

I'm assuming the town of Stoney Creek was flooded and none of the homes have flood insurance because it was not designated as a flood zone. What did the people in Harvey do, I'm sure they weren't in a flood zone either?

Is anyone helping you? Did you file a FEMA claim?

I read a story about Stoney Creek today: Devastated by floods, Stoney Creek residents seek answers - News - Wilmington Star News - Wilmington, NC

FEMA is coming in tomorrow to do an assessment to determine the estimated value of the repairs to the value of the home to determine if it will be repaired or not.

Deputies arrested for incident where 2 women drowned in their van during Florence

Two former South Carolina sheriff's deputies were arrested Friday after two women in their transport van died when they were swept away in Hurricane Florence floodwaters, officials said.

Joshua Bishop, 29, has been charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter, and Stephen Flood, 66, has been charged with two counts of reckless homicide and two counts of involuntary manslaughter, said the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), which is investigating the case.
