Technology is just amazing...it's a whole new world...all these streaming cams, etc...

I have to admit I am a little concerned for boat guy(s), not sure they'll make it, but I do have to say from one (former? :waitasec:) adrenaline junkie to another, serious balls props, riding out a Level 4 on your boat in the keys...I've done some crazy stuff (jumping out of perfectly good airplanes, standing on the pier during a hurricane, but that has me beat.

He said there were other people also riding out on their boats so I'm hoping someone survives.

My West Palm Beach daughter says cable is gone (which means her Internet is gone too) but they still have power. She's about a mile west of the turnpike. Says she's been getting tornado alerts on her phone all morning.

I'm so glad my Miami daughter left. She and baby are in New York while hubby and pets are in Pensacola. She says she misses her family badly but we all wanted them out of harms way. I've been trying to find cams for Coconut Grove and no luck so far. Last night Earth Cam had one but it's gone now. I worry about all those banyan trees in the Grove - they have a shallow root system and tend to topple in winds this high. The beauty of the Grove is the plentiful mature trees but it's a curse in a hurricane.

balcony guy too, he said he knows gas station guy. Everyone thought balcony guy was boat guy, even though he had a boat too, but was streaming from the Marriott above.

First, I want to say I have had very little sleep lol. I clicked on Riviera Beach and was watching the water and I wasn't sure if it was wood floating or 2 legs... the wood had pieces on them so it looked like feet and it also looked like a possible body just below the surface. Then, you could see all these fish sort of jump and sometimes like they were biting/eating at something.

I looked to see again what cam view this was... who would I call and what would I even tell them and I wanted you guys to look at it for me, too. Well it switches the manatee cam when you click that view  I think that is wood floating in there tho.

Are any of the 3 still livestreaming, Jers?

No feeds from the Keys. We assume the cell towers are down.

This guy searches for people's uploads and has posted from all over southwest Florida:

Jeff is in Marco Island, he was live streaming and the winds were wicked but we haven't seen him since. He said he'd be gone just a minute but it's been over 20.

Is your daughter aware of the free Wi-Fi Hot Spots that are available for Florida during this emergency? Maybe she can still get connected to the internet?

The link below is the latest forecast for Marion and Alachua counties as reported by my local paper. Everything west of I-75 is expected to have hurricane force winds and 10-12 inches of rain. That'd be me. Joy! Fortunately we secured the boats with extra ties and even secured the little paddle boat that my nephews play on. I'm hopeful that the lake levels will rise and retain some of the water.

http://www.ocala.com/news/20170910/irma-hurricane-winds-expected-west-of-i-75

So far today it's just a blah, rainy day with occasional gusts. Walmart and most other stores closed at 5pm yesterday. The storm isn't supposed to start hitting with any force until late night/early morning. We're supposed to have 24 hours of sustained hurricane weather.

Of course, talk to my MIL in Jacksonville and according to her they started getting hit by Irma last night. When I suggested that was perhaps just a Florida storm in summer and not yet Irma I was quickly shut down. Talking to her today they are in the midst of Irma and it's the biggest, most worst storm ever. I honestly think she's delusional but I know she just needs attention. I have 12 pets that precedence. My prairie dogs and rats moved their burrows to lower ground starting days ago. They sensed something. Animal instinct is amazing.

If anyone is in the Naples area and need shelter, we have family that live at The Arlington (retirement) in Naples. They posted on Facebook a half hour ago that they still had electric and did not need their backup generators yet, residents were fine (our family evacuated).

I just thought if anyone is in dire need and can get there, I'm sure they'll take you in. It is located at 7900 Arlington Cir, Naples, FL 34113 in the Lely area off of Collier Boulevard on the mainland from Marco Island.

WATCH: Video shows water receding in Key Largo, Florida, leaving a boat docked in the sand.

Eerie look at the Bay from Bayshore Blvd. Hurricane Irma's pressure pull the waters out.

Does the sea typically recede like this during hurricanes? I remember the 2004 tsunami in south-east Asia, many people died who didn't know they should be running in the opposite direction rather than staying on the beach. I didn't know either, but maybe this is usual in hurricane areas?
