UPDATE Pinellas County, Tampa Bay –
Still 9 hours before the worst of IRMA arrives here.
Strong wind gusts breaking tree branches and palm fronds.
Steady light rain.
Birds are still savoring striped sunflower seeds at bird feeder. Primarily cardinals, tweeting loudly.
Dog is mesmerized watching out the back patio door which has a CRIMSAFE screen that is tested to withstand winds up to 200 MPH. Hope so!

Hey Sees- let us know how the screen works. Always looking for better ideas. Take care and hang in there.

I have family near Tampa and they said they'd let me know how everything goes. I talked My aunt around noon and she said the storm should be past them by noon tomorrow. Her daughter who lives in West Palm is currently without power.

The left side of the eye wall appears to be suffering from shear.
Lowered to Cat2, with cat1 at Tampa.

Dangerous surge conditions remain.

Tampa is about 45 minutes north of me - it's going to be really ugly outside tomorrow - worst is supposed to be over by 10:00 AM or so in Sarasota County

The difference between 110 mph and 130 mph is not noticable to a person standing in it. I'm relieved that it is weakening but my guard is still high because of the serious surge issues that still exist on both sides of the state.

Hang tough Florida....

Hurricane Irma sucks away Tampa Bay water

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/09/10/hurricane-irma-sucks-away-tampa-bay-water.html

Another person spotted the same eerie phenomenon in the Bahamas. Twitter user @Kaydi_K posted a video showing the ocean floor completely exposed on Long Island in the Bahamas.

Look at Tampa Bay... this AM there were whitecaps. @JaniceDean told me the winds from #irma are pushing the water out @foxandfriends pic.twitter.com/5agY7hG1zC

I imagine that by tomorrow Irma will have fully cleared the Keys so we should start to get fly-overs and other reports of what's survived and what's been damaged.
