We keep hoping and praying Irma breaks up and weakens even more before entering South Georgia. The worst thing for us will be the high winds and spinning off tornadoes. With it continuing to rain all day today the huge limbs of the giant Pecans and Oaks will already be saturated and very heavy from rainwater making them prone to be uprooted or have huge limbs crashing down everywhere. Some of the limbs on our Oaks are thicker around than a large Pine.
Hubby finally made it home and much earlier than his Jacksonville trip last Friday. He said there wasn't much traffic on the road whether it was north or south bound except for first responders. I hope this means that everyone who evacuated has made it to their final destination.
Even though our family has been glue to all the updates for days now.. whether watching news channels or getting update alerts on our smartphones, I have felt so connected when I come here to read the updates given by our beloved posters, Henry, Popsicle,Jersey Girl, and others who have done a great service for all of us by keeping us informed and updated. I thank you all so much.
My heart breaks for my Floridian neighbors and I am continuing to pray for all of you. It is so scary that the storm surges will come around 11pm when it is so dark and many without power. May you all be safe along with all of your family members, friends, and precious pets.
My husband has an aunt/uncle and nephew who lives in Palm Harbor. We talked with them this morning and they said they have decided to stay. Their home was built in 2012 so hopefully its strong and they will come out okay.
