Hurricane Isaias - July 2020

Power has been out since about 11:30 this morning here in the coast. Sun is out now a bit breezy, humid, so at least hoping the breeze stays into the night as I don’t think we will get power back anytime soon.

More than 1.4 million power outages in N.J. from Isaias. Restoration could take days, officials say.
We were also without power most of the day yesterday and then, even after the electric came back, we also lost our cable service. Comcast had its own outage. This for us means no WiFi, no tv, no phones (our cable controls these). No electric also means no water. Luckily I did fill the sink ahead of time.

Until the power went out, I was watching Philly news reporting one tornado warning after another. And when I drove out later to find a wireless signal to talk to my kids, there were trees and limbs and debris all over many roads. Some are still blocked and many still without power. I woke up to restored cable and now am catching up on here.

Ironically and thankfully, my daughter was fine at the Shore. Didn’t even lose power. My son had a rough time on Long Island, however. He said trees were falling along his road and it was pretty scary.

This was a tropical storm. Not even a hurricane when it came through here in NJ, PA, NY.

@JerseyGirl I hope your power is restored quickly.

My oldest lives in the Lehigh valley area and the flooding down there was
Here in MA we got lucky IMO
Brief Fast moving heavy rain storms -tornado watches on and off all afternoon and trees down etc And power outages of course
But no flooding issues afaik
I don’t get the denial. Never, ever underestimate Mother Nature. Water kills. Don’t drive in it or ride out a storm on a boat!

So a bit of vent.. JCP&L completely dropping the ball on this one. Still no updates on their "Outage Map". They aren't giving the mayor's in towns any information. This is completely ridiculous. I've been checking on several family members outages in different area's and NOTHING is changing on the map. Come on JCP&L - get it together!

In Florida we have Florida Power & Light (FPL). Most days we call them Florida Flicker & Flash. Years ago they were so horrible getting service restored or even added on new construction. They have definitely gotten better. But their nickname remains.

Finally got power back in my part of Jersey at 2:40 this morning. My parents are still without in Morris County.

JCPL is stating estimated date Tuesday the 11th at 11:30 pm.

We got power back at 7:00 last night. We just ordered Chipotle delivery and were about to sit down when a light went on in the hallway. We let out a scream and scrambled to plug in our phones, shut windows and turn the a/c on!!

My sister in Berkeley Heights is still without power.

Astounding for a Tropical Storm / Cat 1 Hurricane.

Good News my parents finally got power back at 11:30am. It wasn't a JCPL truck it was a Pike truck from North Carolina. Thank you line-men from North Carolina!!
I remember when we lost power for two weeks during Charlie and it was those wonderful Pike Electric guys from NC that finally got us back on. Sounds like they are still coming to the rescue!

Oh yes, the tornadoes were the worst problem. Look at the southern tip of NC, that is where I live. Still cleaning debris.
My power was off for nine hours. Very lucky.
