Well, my 87 year old Dad is in a beach house on an island off the North Carolina coast.

My sister & I already have a, hmm, complicated relationship with our step-sister. The step-sister who arranged all this & is also there.

Lots of surf, he says. Tide did not reach the driveway of their rented beach house last night.

(Long time posters, yes, this is the very same step-sister who, while Following the Science, boarded an airliner, changed planes twice in busy air hubs to be met at a fourth airport by my Dad during the height of the pandemic. Didn't bring him COVID, thank God, but he was hospitalized from the stress & effort of preparing for house-guests! Yeah, complicated.)

Prayers for all in the storm's path, and all involved in clean-up!

Hey there from Hernando county. Still have some rain but it and the winds have pretty much moved on.

No damage to speak of, but she sure did clean out some Spanish moss.

My brother is down south and had some damage from Ian. Of course the insurance company is blowing them off (no pun intended). Talked to him this morning and he felt like this added insult to injury. I’d have to agree.

Hope you’re all doing well and your family stayed dry.

There were two fatalities as a result of downed power lines. We’ve been in the house all day and wouldn’t dare venture out, no matter how much I want to go shelling.

No damage to speak of, but she sure did clean out some Spanish moss.

I'm in the West Palm area. We received several inches of rain. Statewide there are minimal power outages and flooding. I've seen non-named storms do more damage.

My oldest daughter is about a mile west of the turnpike in West Palm and had no issues.

She's probably a neighbor of mine. We're in Wellington.

Maybe sharks teeth will be easier to find than shells down south. There are no, none, nada shells on our beach anytime. Boooo

Thankfully no damage here in north Sarasota. There’s some debris on the commercial wetlands on the other side of the 8’ chain link fence. That company will get that picked up.

A few twigs, a branch on the ground, a branch caught in one tree and a gigantic ant bed. Hurricanes bring out the buggy icky creatures that’s for sure.

My squash trellis is intact. No plant damage that I can find. No need to water for awhile as everything has perked right up.

Grateful for being spared any additional damage. Hurr Ian was $4,600 in damage with a $3,000 deductible. FL Home Owners Insurance bites as usual.

We used to vacation near Venice Beach and get hundreds of sharks teeth. My daughter said she’s been seeing videos of people finding huge megladon teeth lately. Not long after the ‘05 storms I found a 6” one. I wish we had “fun” beaches here! Lol

Did you seriously find a meg tooth!?! And so big?!? Congratulations! Wasn’t on the beach was it? Probably along the peace river? We do live in bone valley after all, or should I say within a stones throw.
Agree 100% on the beaches. Pine island is a last ditch resort for us.

It was on an barrier island near Venice Beach (about an hour south). There is an ancient river bed that goes through the Peace River and just offshore down there. They had done some dredging to do beach restoration and then the hurricanes came through. It stirred up all kinds of treasures. It was on the beach just as the sun came up. I think I woke up the whole island when I screamed. Lol

The groundhogs appreciated this very much -- they ate everything.

Those are awesome!!! Any ideas on how to keep cats from using them as a litterbox? I want a garden, but my cats even destroyed a raised garden (4' high) with a 2' fence around it.
