I don't like to play the blame game. I find it very draining to continually read such pettiness and negativity, much less participate in it.
It's no game. People died, and that is no game. Being very concerned about that is hardly petty. Wanting to know why and recognizing that Bush did make mistakes both now and leading up to tragedy is part of being patriotic. Following any leader blindly isn't. But I can see that anything that isn't praise of Bush just irks you. Well, you might want to avoid TV, the newspapers, anyplace where no one except staunch Bush supporters gather.

BTW, how are you doing with the criticisms and blame of the mayor and others? Those ok since it isn't Bush or are you going to complain about those? Or have you and I just missed it?

Some people won't be satisfied until Bush puts on his hip waders and swims to the rescue of people on rooftops. You know, like Kerry would've done.

I do, and so it is not bashing. I don't call your defense of Bush delusional denial. Don't call mine bashing.

I'll let the mods make the call of what belongs where, but it seems to me the political questions/issues do belong here. When Bush praised the man who didn't know people were at convention center long after the rest of the world did, it belongs here. IMO.
I am not delusional, never have been!!!! I live in the greatest country on earth. I stand by him, and that is just how I feel. Sorry, but no one will change my mind. This is the first time on any of these threads, that I have taken a stand on any subject, and it feels good..:D

For what it's worth, lilpony, I agree with you. :)
I agree with you both. I can't stand this "lets blame" thing. It makes the writer of the post seem so distant because their talking about blame when this is the time for action. They have forever to hold people responsible, but only a short time to make life and death decisions.

Sheesh, it was just a question.

I know :blowkiss:
Im just angry as I titled this thread at Leadership from the bottem (looting police), Mayors, Govenors, DHS, Fema and the White House. There was a failure of the system from top to bottem and IMO if it isnt addressed it could be you or me, our homes or families the next time.

Hi N

IMO the City of New Orleans had an obligation to have generators, supplies of bedding, food, water doctors, and medicine available at whatever place they chose to send these folks who chose to stay or were financially/physically unable to evacuate. It was their "plan" and it sucked.

And I'm not bashing Bush. You missed my point. LOL.

I live in the greatest country on earth.
It's a great one, but not so great when we let people die and be raped andso much of it could have been avoided.
I stand by him, and that is just how I feel. Sorry, but no one will change my mind. [/quote]
What if he did things wrong? What if he made a huge string of errors that led to deaths and rapes? What if it turns out he's corrupt? What if he lied? What if he knew people were dying and still did photo ops and didn't take action that could have saved lives? Nothing could change your mind?

That kind of blind devotion and unwillingness to consider the facts is a little scary to me.

Then you should respect other's rights to take a stand on their subject. I think the posters agreement was just fine - they weren't calling your opinion delusional, nor were they going to start doing so. They just asked for the equal respect back that you not call their opinions on this subject 'bashing'.

Is it really so hard to accept that different people can see things differently? :banghead:

Or to see that some people consider a response where women in and outside of the shelters are raped and stabbed and killed as somewhat lacking in terms of the "greatest country on earth".

That's a good point. I would never leave my animals behind, no matter what. Every community should have an emergency plan that takes this into consideration.
Did you see this photo?

Hope those kitties are okay (and their owners too, of course)

I understand. It's the blame that starts at the top and goes to the bottom that bothers me. Louisiana has its own government. New Orleans has its own government. Each parish has its own government. Why do we always seem to start with the President when trying to place blame? I think he's done about as much as could be expected from any president, starting even before the storm hit. Anyhow, it's very sad to see so many people suffering and we all want to see an improvement in getting them settled.

Yes, a short time to make life and death decisions. And yet our government waited how many days to make those decisions? The "time for action" was Monday. Not Friday.

Do you think maybe the governor of Louisiana is a little busy right now? Maybe her primary job isn't making TV appearances to entertain you?

Oh for goodness sakes - people like to hear from the leaders - it's part of the job. She represents the whole state, not just NO. How many times was Rudy Guiliani on TV and look what he accomplished. He got down there in the trenchs with everyone and at the very least became a better leader.

No, I hadn't seen that. Bless them. I'm thinking about offering to foster some dogs until their owners get settled.

The conversation was about President Bush.

I know this wasn't directed at me, but I'd like to give an answer, too. I personally don't blame Bush for everything. I don't even know to what extent he is to blame. He is, imo, to blame for some decisions that led to the tragedy (FEMA, budget, etc...lots of stuff in the political forum). I also think when people were dying and it was obvious that the response was pitifully inadequate, he needed to step in. So far, that's his share of blame from me. I reserve the right to judge him for anything else it is revealed he did wrong.

Michael Brown bears a LOT, imo. Maybe the mayor, maybe the governor. Others to be named later.

Attachment: exaggerating the positive qualities of one's friend's and dear ones while ignoring or minimizing their negative traits.

Aversion or hatred: exaggerating the negative qualities of one's enemies or those who oppose one's views while ignoring or minimizing their positive qualities.

This is my problem too. Look at the difference a day has made in getting help. Someone dropped the ball and lots of people died because of it and others will be facing serious health consequences.

The blame game is importent as this is how we make our future decisions about who will be our govenment leaders. This is what we pay taxes for....good representation for the community good. Anything else is irresponsibility.

The President of the United States is the most powerful man in the World. With the job comes huge responsibility. This disaster is going to affect every American, not just those in the disaster zone. Spending the first 4 days of this disaster on vacation and pushing a political agenda on Medicare and Iraq rather then "Getting the job done" dosent set well with alot of people. He IMO was out of touch with what was happening . Local , State and Federal Government all should have been on top of this before it struck and moved fast. Sadly 4 days is to long for many many people.
