GUILTY IA - Amy Mullis , 39, Earlville, killed with corn rake, 10 Nov 2018 *Arrest*

  • #201
I have listened over and over, and it’s hard to hear what he whispered. I still can’t make out what he said between gasps. The audio is bad! Because the prosecutor suggested he said “go to Hell” and “cheating 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬” - that’s what I’m trying to hear, but I still can’t be sure of what was said! Reminds of when I was a kid when someone would play The Beatles records backwards and suggest they were talking about devil worshipping! I just don’t hear it!

BBM I remember that.

@ashleyrenesc The defense fires back to the state for their speculation that Mullis called his wife a "cheating 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬," on the 911 call. They say that he was out of breath and saying "She's cold." The defense says,"That is a Hail Mary by the state, folks." #MullisTrial

Todd's lawyer sorta matches him- a simple man, IMO.

Todd is a standard high school educated farmer from Iowa. Simple minded, thinking that the wife needs to be at home minding the rules that he sets for the family. He knew about her affair and wasn't going to lose his kids and farm because of a divorce. Him being "nice" on the stand doesn't prove that he didn't do it, it just proves he has no remorse and is good at acting/being dumb. His whole testimony was rehearsed. I can make up lies too if I get to see the evidence in a case against me before I take the stand. Both sides agree it was a murder, so those of you that think he's innocent, who do you think did it? No one else was on the farm besides Todd and his kids according to him. Who would have had motive to kill her?

@ashleyrenesc The defense says "It doesn't equate to convict Todd Mullis of first-degree murder" #MullisTrial

@ashleyrenesc The defense believes that the investigators zeroed in on Mullis as their only suspect. And condemns their decision not to collect evidence from Amy Mullis fingernails. He says "It would appear that if it about undermine their case then don't do it" #MullisTrial

@ashleyrenesc The defense argues that Amy Mullis may have made up her claims about being fearful of her husband to justify her reason for a divorce, saying "Amy was just not satisfied" #MullisTrial

How about, as was discussed, Amy tripped /was dizzy, fell back on the rake, tried to get up, fell back again, tried to get up again, and then fell forward trying to get herself up, with the fork still in her back?

I'm saying guilty- enough motive (infidelities, divorce, losing the farm, had enough of Amy) IMO- (even tho' the prosecution doesn't have to prove motive).

But hung jury.

Not Guilty. Reasonable doubt. Weak prosecution. Pathetic investigators.
At the conclusion of this case, I hope the fingernail clippings finally get submitted for DNA testing.

I don't know who killed Amy ..I agree someone killed Amy but the state hasn't proven to me that Todd killed her. A couple of things come to mind for me..in some states if it is proven that a spouse cheated on their spouse twice, I don't believe the cheating spouse even in a no fault state would get an equal portion (50/50) of assets. It is considered misconduct in the marriage and is factored in settlement.
Also just because Jerry's or anyone else's phone says he's at home doesn't prove he was at home. If you are going to premeditate a murder, you would think that you would leave your phone at home.
Also, if we are to believe Tristan that he and dad were together almost the whole time after Amy left to go to the shed, then someone else killed Amy..if we are to believe Tristan and Todd....do we? I have never seen a trial with so little evidence from the state to bring charges like these. JMO

#MullisTrial Defense Attorney Gerald Feuerhelm argued in closing statement that Mullis could not have been separated from his son long enough to kill his wife without his son noticing, Poses the theory that the actual killer was already in the shed before Amy Mullis walked in.

@ashleyrenesc The state fires back at the defense for his "Hail Mary" comment about the 911 call. She says, "We don't need that 911 call. It's another piece of evidence that adds to everything else." #MullisTrial

“It just so happens!”

Prosecutor Maureen Hughes showing a lot of energy in her rebuttal closing argument. Telling jurors there’s no way all of their circumstantial evidence is simply a coincidence. @CourtTV @grinsli

You mean to tell me, you think you could be impaled by a corn rake, pull it out of your own back (extremely doubtful), stand up then fall on it again, then roll over to fetal position?

Todd, the DA, and the Prosecutor all agree that she was murdered, so I'm not sure why people still think it was an accident.
