Most respectfully snipped from above: Police say her mother, Tanya Kephart, 29, violated a court order and picked Cooper up from day care around 3 p.m. Kephart has limited parental rights and the court order restricted her from seeing Cooper unsupervised.

A missing Des Moines girl has been found safe in Michigan and her mother is in custody.

Audrey Cooper went missing on Feb. 23. Investigators thought the 6-year-old's mother, Tanya Kephart, picked her up from daycare, violating a court order.


The two were found in Menominee, Michigan. Police said Kephart came to a DHS office looking for financial aid. DHS called the police. After Kephart was taken into custody, she shared Cooper's location.


Cooper was found without incident. She is currently in foster care while arrangements are made to return her home.


Kephart is expected to be extradited to Iowa. She's expected to face charges of child endangerment and violation of a custodial order
