Seaboard is apparently a load board/freight broker. Owner operators or companies can sign in/on and contract for a listed load, upon agreement to terms such as rate, what it is, where it loads, where it is going. Would imagine it would list as something like (LS) livestock and trailer type (POT) livestock trailer, name for a large livestock trailer. So far as I know, no overall pic of his in use or usual trailer shown, just the nose area "Brown". Top is regular typical, lower is a POT.

Lying in Wait theory - Thankfully, social media (DS wife, locals & exp trucker posts), local MSM, SCSO PR, national trucker groups, blogs, etc. have aided in public awareness, timelines & assistance to locate him. There appears to be little sense of urgency with LE to inform the public; SCSO waited 10+ days.
A recent interview w/DS wife (SS f/bk link) provided ViP info for me re: the delivery sight (it was my "hunch" but needed that missing piece). LB may be right, especially if DS had a guest with him upon his Wiechman arrival (don't want to believe this, it may be a logical conclusion as nothing else makes sense). Were the abductors "Lying in wait," for DS arrival, to ambush and attack, and take him. The abductors wanted DS, not his $$ or truck.
Adultery does not mean the person does not love their spouse, it's not always the cause of it. He loves his family IMO.
LE may have stated he didn't make it to the "W" delivery site to throw off those responsible. IMO.

I guess that's one possibility of heading to Wiechmans in a roundabout bizarre way. I was thinking a wider radius, but your way would work, too. He'd then pass the businesses at 255th and Ash, who may have cameras, but why would he have taken a roundabout route at all, instead of a direct one?
Perhaps personal preference on pulling in the driveway? Or driving by certain places to see Christmas lights? SH mentioned how he liked driving by and seeing their Christmas tree in front of their sliding glass doors. I don't find that path bizarre as I come from a small town with a grainery and semis come from every direction no matter if it's a gravel or paved road.

Strange things happen. I'm thinking of Texas college student Jason Landry who crashed his vehicle on a dirt road in rural Tx while headed home for Christmas break two years ago. Authorities found his clothing strewn along the road where it appears he undressed as he walked along the dark road. Jason also left his valuables behind. Authorities here have opined that he may have succumbed to hypothermia and been consumed by feral pigs.

More recently, there was the episode of an Alaskan Airlines Pilot seated in the jump seat on flight from WA to San Francisco who attempted to pull the fire suppression control lever which would have stopped fuel from the engines. The Pilot allegedly consumed mushrooms 48 hours earlier and was in a state of heightened paranoia.

All reported here from shutting down the truck engine to the orientation of where the rig was left is behavior out of character to DS.

It would be good to have confirmation from LE that DS was the party responsible for shutting down his truck, as well as learning who DS last had contact with on Tuesday, Nov 21, and/or his last proof of life.

We know DS grew up in Sac and was familiar with the area where the truck was located (5 miles from Sac). Did he talk to his folks, sibling, nephew? What was his state of mind?

I don't know that there will be additional searches. The Sheriff seems put out if he needs to seek property owner's permission to conduct physical searches for DS. MOO

According to law enforcement, family and friends report last hearing from 53-year-old David Schultz of Wall Lake during the early morning hours of Tuesday, Nov. 21.

Yes… I’ve wondered if perhaps he purchased something he thought would give him an energy boost but it was laced, intentionally or not, and had a horrible effect on him. Perhaps he got to 20/71 and thought he needed to pull over and ride it out, not go to Wiechmans in that state. Maybe he drove slowly and finally parked where he did, and his “high” got worse and he left the cab and ran off in a stupor. But, but, but, why didn’t they find him? If this were the scenario, how far could he have gone? Did he climb a ladder and jump into a grain silo in a hallucinogenic state? Did he run and run and they just haven’t found him? You can walk a 15 min mile. I imagine they have not searched a 10 mile radius in all directions of the truck location.

Also, yes to what you quoted above about that comment we read early on that he was in touch in the early morning hours with friends and family on Nov 21. With who? What time? What was the content of the communication and was it text or calls? If someone used his phone around 5am, I’d like to think we would have learned that. Was the outgoing communication closer to midnight?

I asked off thread about any dash cam/GPS and more specifically any ELD (DOT mandated electronic logging device), hardware connected to engine to record driving hours, and learned few livestock haulers run GPS, and most likely exempt from ELD but might keep paper log.

In spite of the Sheriff's ridicule of the idea DS vanishing without a trace could be Cartel related, the Iowa drug epidemic, more specifically meth addiction, really can't be ignored. Sorry, Sheriff, the meth use in Iowa is fact, not conspiracy.

For example, in Western Iowa (Fort Dodge, Mason City), towns less than 40 miles from where DS's truck located, huge meth use exists here. See the stats linked below.

Looking at the map, US 20 is four lanes all the way across Iowa, a great alternative to I-80 for drug runners heading to or from Chicago seeking safest route with less detection/enforcement.

I keep thinking of the wife's words that DS was "taken" versus missing and can't help thinking even if DS not involved in running drugs, he likely knows somebody involved in running product on these backroads.

I think both DS coat in the ditch and search dogs losing DS scent a short distance from his truck could be signs DS was "taken" from the area, and both the orientation and coat were intentional crumbs by DS, a clue for his family/friends.

ADDICTED: Iowa leads the pack in meth usage

According to annual Iowa Drug Control Strategy and Drug Use Profile Report, in 2021, there were upwards of 150,000 grams of meth seized from Iowans. This is nearly 331 pounds of meth. While the problem of the increasing methamphetamine use in Iowa might seem far off, the problem may be right in the backyard or around the corner.

[..]

The rate of meth treatment in Iowa far exceeds neighboring states and the national prevalence level, with Iowa at 29%, surrounding states at 19% and the national level at 10%, according to “Methamphetamine Use in Iowa,” published in Sept. 2021, by the Public Science Collaborative, a team of researchers who look at drug use issues and factors in Iowa over time.

True-Funk said a majority of methamphetamine is the product of Mexican cartels. She said while more people used to make their own methamphetamine in a meth lab with the use of precursor drugs, Mexican cartels are now the main source of meth production and distribution.

True-Funk said meth can be brought into the United States as a liquid or as a solid, and Hochberger said it can even be delivered through the mail. Hochberger also said Mexican cartels not only produce the meth in bulk, but they make it 96% to 99% purity rate.

“What’s happened is that methamphetamine has become more potent, pure and affordable,” True-Funk said. “It’s the cheapest stimulant out there.”

Early on someone said he had no dash cam, and sadly it was Jake Rowley of the Cajun Navy who put out a public plea for a mechanic who could perhaps look into any truck electronics it may have had. His truck was not very new. Made me sad and irritated that LE was not looking into that. And no reports since, as far as I know, if anything has resulted from any such investigation.

Thanks for that Seattle (<your post #708) so without David being involved in drugs at all, in any way shape or form, it is possible he may have truly been in the wrong place at the wrong time and possibly seen something he shouldn't have, or someone thought he saw something...maybe while parked at MM126 for those 16 mins.

Sarah mentioned she got an update from DCI but was not going to post about it because it was “classified”.
I saw a news article that a man was found shot in a yard in Ft Dodge and they were not releasing the name yet. Could it possibly be David????

I've seen many comments to news reports from viewers saying things like they went to HS with DS and he's a good guy and share their fears how they hope he didn't run into their brother-in-law, or saw something he shouldn't have.

What's different or unique about the Midwest and farming communities such as the Schultz home area is these tend to be communities of generational friendships. In other words, DS could have easily stopped to help the cousin or brother-in-law of a lifetime friend without ever believing it could cost him his life.

It's just all so unfortunate. I think he likely gave somebody a ride to this location which was about 4 miles out of his way, and was met with foul play. MOO

Still wondering why David's family is so quiet? Very quiet. Is his parents still alive? What about siblings? Neices or nephews? Are any of his relatives being updated or talked with? Have they been told to stay silent or they just have nothing to say. So curious. Anyone have any ideas why they are so quiet? Moo

I have a hard time believing he ran into foul play because his wallet and a sizable amount of cash were left in his truck. At the same time, it doesn't make sense that he left voluntarily either - because his wallet and a sizable amount of cash were left in his truck. If those two possibilities are out, what's left?

Do I recall correctly that DS had a history with the Sheriff? IIRC was something that his wife mentioned in one of the interview videos maybe?

LE screws up. About 2 months ago CHP did a traffic stop and the driver ran; the CHP officer ran after the driver and shot an unarmed man in the back 200 yards from the vehicle and is now under suspension pending an investigation. There were warrants on the guy and weapons and drugs in the vehicle along with two women. The man was killed in an alley across HW 96 from the credit union where I bank on the Hupa Reservation.

Christmas AM there was a crazy-acting person on Amtrak and the train stopped by Mt. Shasta and a Shasta City cop came on board. First the guy was tazed then the cop shot 8-10 times in a loaded passenger railcar, killing the impaired man and shooting the train conductor twice. Reportedly, there is an investigation by the State underway.

Rural LE can get pretty weird and have a local idea of justice and how, who, and which laws should be enforced. Humboldt, Siskiyou, Trinity, Shasta, and Mendicino counties of NW California all have long and too often troubled county and local LE agencies.

Reasons and/or circumstances to be suspicious of DS:

Thinking about what was different on Nov 20 compared to any other date/time DS was doing his normal job and the following concerns come to mind:

His wife reported that DS begins the week with a large amount of cash [est $2,000] that he spends down by the end of the week. I'd be uncomfortable for a family member on the road to be carrying thousands in cash when there's at least three banks/ATM's in Wall Lake, Eagle Grove, or Sac City within an easy radius to plan for cash fuel purchases. That said, there's no report that DS's cash was a target of his disappearance, or that the content of his wallet was found light or incomplete.

We know that DS/SS have two children together, twins at age 10 but SS also had two teens when they married. Reportedly, one of the adult children was visiting from Florida when DS disappeared. Is there any reason to suspect DS missing at the same time as the visit of step-child anything more than coincidence? If so, has any alibi been checked out and family cleared?

Regarding questions about a crowd money account set up for wife by a relative, his wife SS previously mentioned DS's truck payments were $2K/month but the truck/financing was in his name only and she was seeking legal advice how to protect DS's interests.

It appears SS has done just that and filed a Petition for Conservatorship of DJS on 12/15/23, and a hearing scheduled on 1/8/2024.

^^rsbm

I recall the same and the incident per public record is quite aged (7/1994)when DS in his early 20's, and no evidence in Iowa that DS was a repeat offender.

IMO, the Sheriff, also of SAC County, was probably an upper classman to DS, and I'd like to think has matured since 1994. Then again, from his interviews, maybe not. JMO.
