I hate to assume the worst, but after he killed himself it lends itself to thinking she's dead.

Newest News Report.

I'd be surprised if they find her in Kansas- Kansas was his safe haven, his childhood home. He went there with the intent that he wasn't ever coming back. Her SUV was located at the bar. I'd be willing to bet he used her vehicle to transport her, drove back and left her SUV at the bar, then walked back to his car and took off.

If she was last seen at 7:00pm and her vehicle wasn't there when the bar closed at 2:00am, he would've had something like 6-10 hrs (depending when whatever happened happened) to figure out what to do next, then take her and drive back to the bar.

It sounds like this was an impulsive act, he didn't have a history of violence. He was probably in a panic mode afterwards, and would've wanted to get rid of her body fairly quickly, but someplace where no one would know her or him. I doubt he would have put her body in his car, I don't think he would have moved her SUV otherwise.

The Missouri river is just a couple of hours west, and of course Iowa is in no shortage of farm fields with streams, ditches, culverts, and drainage pipes. Going back to my previous post- they need to get farmers searching their fields and culverts while they're out, in a few weeks it'll be next to impossible to find anything. Her purse went with her, so it's out there somewhere.

Really sad, I hope she can be found quickly for her family's sake.

Still sending out prayers to ALL who are missing. May they all make it home.

There is swan lake park in Carroll, and Yellow Smoke park in Denison that she could be at.
If she's in a random field once the corn starts sprouting, it's going to be harder to see her. I agree they need to ask everyone with land to go out and look for her.. now before it gets any greener. My in laws cleared their property in denison already, and will be checking their rented land this weekend.

Glad to hear they've started searching local, but I wish they'd get Ms. Allen into Namus.

Dawn Allen investigation continues

The investigation into the disappearance of Dawn Allen, of Carroll, continues.

[snip]

Police attempted to interview Robert Snovelle, 54, whom Allen allegedly was dating online and occasionally seeing. Snovelle, from Rolfe, avoided the police and fled to Coffey County, Kansas, where he committed suicide May 9 trying to elude police there.

[snip]

"We've expanded the search to include several counties, for people to just be checking on their properties and see if they come across any evidence whatsoever," he said.

One year later, missing Carroll woman’s fate remains a mystery

Sometime in late 2010, Dawn Allen logged on to a dating website.

Allen was lonely and going through a divorce that dovetailed with the death of a son. She needed comfort.

She met a man named James Snovelle of the northern Iowa town of Rolfe, who told her that he was divorced.

Investigators now say Snovelle was living a double life – deceiving several Iowa women, including his wife.

A few months later, a co-worker reported Dawn Allen missing. The investigation led authorities to rural eastern Kansas. But before they could question Snovelle there, he put a gun to his head and killed himself, obliterating what, if anything, he knew about Allen’s disappearance.

Today, despite a search across multiple counties in Iowa and into Kansas, authorities are no closer to finding Allen or knowing what happened to her.

Breaking News: Western IA woman’s remains found in Sac County

News
January 3rd, 2013 by Ric Hanson

Officials with the Iowa Department of Public Safety reported late Thursday night, that authorities in western Iowa were investigating the suspicious death of a western Iowa woman whose remains were discovered while officers were investigating the alleged kidnapping and attempted sexual assault of another victim. The body was located at 2242 Ira Avenue, and officials say the death was being treated as suspicious in nature. An autopsy will be conducted by the Iowa State Medical Examiner in Ankeny. The name of the victim was being withheld pending notification family.

In early May of 2011, a Carroll resident, 50-year old Dawn Allen was reported missing. Her vehicle was found in the parking lot of a club on the east side of Carroll. The last person known to have had any communication with her, 54-year old James Snovelle, committed suicide May 9th in Kansas, as authorities closed in on him. Allen’s remains were never found. It’s not clear if there is any connection with her disappearance though, and the remains found Thursday in neighboring Sac County.

The investigation into death of the woman found Thursday, started at around 8-a.m., when the Sac County Sheriff’s Office responded to Highway 20 and Ira Avenue, two miles west of Early, to investigate an alleged kidnapping. Law enforcement had received a 911 call from a local citizen who had encountered a 21 year old woman attempting to flee a vehicle and claiming she had been kidnapped. Once at the intersection of Ira Avenue and Hwy 20, law enforcement officials made contact with the victim and determined the suspect had fled on foot. A search of the area was conducted and sheriff’s deputies located 21 year old Kirk Riley Levin hiding in a nearby barn. Levin was taken into custody without incident.

I believe the owner of this property where the body was found in Early died herself in Dec of 2011. That was before Dawn went missing so I doubt they found the body inside the house if it turns out to be Dawn.

I think the kidnapping will turn out to be a domestic thing between Kirk Levin and possibly an acquaintance.

Link to obit who I think is the owner of record for property on Ira Ave (the difference is the middle initial on the obit): http://www.fratzkejensen.com/obitphotos/451.pdf

I wonder if there was any connection between Snovelle and Schmitt family.

As I suspected the woman who was kidnapped and Levin were acquaintances. This article also says Levin was recently released from prison. Also that the body was found inside the house.

IMO I don't think this unidentified body will turn out to be Dawn, but instead is likely the residence of the property.

Since LE is classifying this as a suspicious death makes me wonder if Levin had anything to do with the death or if it was just unfortunate circumstances that he picked this residence.

The woman says Levin was an acquaintance and had just been released from prison after serving time for burglary. She says Levin told her his car was broken down and he needed a ride. When they arrived at his house near Early he took her into the barn and told her he was kidnapping her. He tied her up and put her in the back seat of the vehicle.

Levin crashed the car into a ditch about a half a mile from the home and that’s when she was able to escape and flag down help.

After receiving the 911 call, authorities searched the area and found Levin hiding in a nearby barn.

When they searched the home where the woman said she’d been held captive the body of a deceased woman was found.

News station from Des Moines is now reporting that the prosecutor representing the state said the body found was that of Levin’s mother.

KIDNAPPING CASE: Suspect’s Mom Found Dead

During the investigation into the kidnapping officials say they found the body of another woman at the home where Levin allegedly held the kidnapping victim. During Levin’s court appearance Friday the prosecutor representing the state said the body found was that of Levin’s mother.

ETA: In the video in the above link it is said that Kirk Levin and his mother (who was found dead inside the home) lived at this residence.
