Heather was the one who involved the Police. Why did the police go to the lake?

IMO, Misty knows it's coming (so to speak) from CC, Heather and Drew's spokesperson, and thus, preempts:

She [Misty] said she also met Monday morning with the Collins' family. She called tension within the family as "very normal" in a case where relatives have fear and stress but no answers about what happened.

IMO, Misty's intelligent and often articulate.

That is an excellent question! At one point Grandma and Misty were standing in the front yard at the Collin's home and Heather drove up. She was not able to find them after looking for about 45 mins and said she was going to the PD. I believe she involved LE at 2:45. Tammy, Grandma, and E's brother were also at the lake at 2:45. LE showed up at 3. Why did the police go to the lake so quickly? And why did it take them almost an hour to find those bikes on the path? Does not make sense!

ETA: Maybe Aunt Tammy called Heather on her cell and said we are at the lake and someone here just said he saw them riding their bikes around 2:30. If that is the case though - then Heather might have said to the LE - never mind, I think we may have found them. Hmmm.

It got serious enough for Heather to contact the police early on, but Misty tells Anderson Cooper [on July 16th] that it wasn't really serious until the police found the girls' bikes:

COOPER: Joining me now, Lyric's mom, Misty Cook Morrissey and Tommy Brouseau, who is the aunt of both girls. Misty, how did you find out that your daughter, your niece were missing?

MISTY COOK-MORRISSEY, MOTHER OF MISSING GIRL: I was getting off work at 2:00. My mom gave a call on the cell phone to let me know, the girls haven't been back from their bike ride. Why don't you drive right over here and we'll continue to look for them.

My mom had some plans for the night so I drove over. We looked for them, couldn't find them, went to the police station. When the police found the bikes, that's kind of when it got serious and we realized it was more than just them off playing.

I was quite impressed as to just how articulate she is especially in the subpoened video. She didn't hem and haw her way through it, she spoke directly and frankly, almost scripted, but she was not reading anything. She answered the reporter's question like a professional spokesperson. JMO.

Has anyone else noticed that Dan still wears his wedding ring (it's visible in videos)? He also has his Facebook status listed as "Married" and Misty's is "Single."

I don't want to read anything into that or post my opinion, so just sayin'. IMO.

Is the lake (water, not the land around it) open for paddleboating and such?! I'm not saying they are in the lake, I'm just wondering out of curiosity :)

The lake has been partially drained and searched with sonar twice and I'm pretty sure it no longer has police tape around it. I would guess it is open for business again. Locals?

Everyone thought the girls had drowned at that point?

I just going back reading, i am glad people are finally seeing what fbi sandra brault is saying about the evidence they have against the girls being alive. I still cant find the video where she was walking outside on the sidewalk with her interviewer/reporter thats when i thought she said it so clearly, with a believable tone.

The next day or so local LE gave a presser.
LE said there was nothing new to report. He did not
sound as upbeat as the FBI spokeswoman. He did NOT
mention the girls welfare. As I said, his presser was after
The FBI spokeswoman.
Hoping for a safe return of both girls. :moo:

Yep, we should have a section for "TB says". I'm just not getting over what she said about feeling sorry for DM having to go to pretrial Friday when his daughter is missing. I mean, you know, with the breaking of her sister's fingers and all, you'd think the last thing she'd feel is sorry for an abuser. Maybe we should do another section on "What TB says about DM", Just sayin...

maybe there is a hidden reason why aunt is so close to DM????
Is she single? drugs?

I think the position of the bikes is very important. If they were leaning against the fence it would probally be a casual thing, ( to neatly get them out of the way from others on the path), or if they were laying on the ground that would indicate to me that it was something done in a hurry. I also would love to know which way they were facing.

Except that it IS possible that someone saw the bikes lying in the middle of the path and leaned them against the fence, so they wouldn't be a hazard. This is something I would do (I'm a mom, obviously and do all sorts of stuff like this)

me too... after this recap of "where were the bikes" lol, it occurs to me that many different people could have touched or moved the bikes... wonder how many "unidentified" prints le found? that could be another reason for still asking people to come forward??

Was there only one video that could be the one that was subpeoned? I thought there were multiple ones and no confirmation of exactly which one LE were seeking.

I agree that she sounds professional. She is very articulate and not camera shy. Total contrast to TB.

Someone on another site posted a link to a video from KWWL from the same time of the subpeoned video. The person had posted the link before the subpeone came out. The person quoted a statement from someone in the video that was odd. I clicked on the link to the video and it has been taken down from KWWL. It was from a video that I had not seen and I knew that because the statement that was supposedly made on the video was one that I would have remembered hearing. Made me wonder if they were taking down multiple videos from the date of the subpeoned video or just that one.

In the picture of Misty writing with color crayons at the lake - she is wearing a ring on her wedding finger.

Is that new? Since the breakup with JW 2 weeks ago? I will have to go watch the older videos of her. I honestly never looked to see if she was wearing one. I just noticed that he was.

In case anyone missed this -

"KWWL News Director Dan Schillinger said it is the policy of the news station to provide all published material to comply with a court order. In this case, Schillinger said, however, the mother and grandmother were interviewed live for a noon broadcast. There was no additional footage beyond what aired and what was posted on the station’s website."

Here's the transcripts for the JVM July 17th video Winterrose posted above.

The video skips for me when Jane asks Misty whether the girls could have been snatched earlier and the scene at the lake staged:

JVM:...Now, we just heard the grandmother say they normally didn`t go this far. They stayed in the immediate area. That`s what all the family members have been saying. So I have to -- well, ask a difficult question, could they have been snatched earlier and their bikes and their bag dropped there, which would essentially mean that the scene would have been staged to make it look like they had drowned? And I`m going to put that question to Missy Morrissey, whose 10-year-old daughter, Lyric, is one of those who`s missing.

M. MORRISSEY: Sure. Sure, that could have happened. At this point we can`t rule anything out. We don`t have very many details just that the bikes and the purse were found there. So could that have happened? Probably -- I mean, it could have.

I keep thinking about the abduction of Jaycee Lee Dugard. She was waiting for the school bus. The Garrido's drove up, used a stun gun on her and had her in the car within moments. Her stepfather witnessed the abduction and was a suspect for a long time. They took her from Lake Tahoe area to Antioch CA where they kept her for eighteen years in the backyard. Could a stun gun have been used to abduct these girls? And exactly from which spot, I'm not sure...
