Good morning. Anything new?

Within Arm's Length: Closer Contact for Parents Amid Recent Incidents?
I do that all the time, pretend that I am texting but take photos. My phone makes a sound though when it takes a pic so I have to cough at the right time. LOL.
That van looks more like a 2011/2012 Dodge Grand Caravan or Chrysler Town and Country. I could have sworn in a different thread you called it an Oldsmobile? Or am I seeing things?

I am in Texas, so I'm not familiar with Evansdale except for what I've read here at WS. I am frustrated that there seems to be such an epidemic of perverts trying to lure or snatch children in Iowa the past few months. I wish that sex offenders were not ever allowed to plead down or remain free even when they violate probation. They get away with so much of what they do!

Thanks for posting this. I have stated before that as much as it pains me to keep my child on close watch and not allow her the same freedom I enjoyed as a child, it would pain me more if the wolves got her.![]()
It blows my mind when I see very young kids out unattended. My daughter is four, and I would NEVER let her play outside alone. She doesn't even play outside in our own yard unless my eyes are on her at all times. My community hasn't had any attempted abductions in quite some time, but that doesn't mean I'm going to let her ride her bike a far distance from me. I don't let her out of my sight for even a minute outside of our house. My friends think I'm overprotective because I won't leave her in the car to run into a store for a quick item, or even to return the cart (I park next to the cart corral or just take her with me). I'm OK with them thinking that, and just make a note to not let them babysit her!!
I just don't get why it takes "recent incidents" for people to supervise their kids. I guess people get a false sense of security when nothing has happened in their community, but why take the chance and have their kid to be the first abducted child?
I'd rather be overprotective than never see my precious daughter again.

Unfortunately until our judicial system catches up with the real world and these judges start keeping the sex offenders locked up things will not change.
Even the sex offenders know they most likely will get a slap on the wrist and off they go to reoffend. They cannot be rehabilitated, lock them all up and throw away the key!
I know this is kinda OT but yes, my husband is part Italian and part Irish and I agree the "personal space" boundaries are way different than my background (basically "American mutt"). I know I commented on the cheek-touching thing earlier but in his family it wouldn't surprise me OR be "hinky." Thanks for the reminder.
I agree! Like I stated in another post, I wouldn't be able to go on if my child was missing, no way.
Talking yesterday with co-worker. When driving, iphone app needs to shut off.
No talking while driving. Just too many accidents.
Yes true they are expressive. I am from a large Italian family also. I am fine with them touching my kids. Still not ok, with a stranger touching my kid in anyway even if they are Italian. I am sorry, my kids protection comes before any other "feelings" someone might have. Part of stranger danger is teaching my kids to be polite and walk away from a stranger. I am sorry if a strangers feelings where hurt when they or I walk away, but I would be even more sorry if they where taken. In this day and age~ I would fault noone for not wanting someone staring at their kid. I myself try to "keep" my hubby in check. He is like the pied piper with children. If he is at the park he plays with our kids and that attracts all the other children. I just don't want him blamed for anything. I hate thinking this way, I do, but this crap happens.
JMO- sorry for typos, very small keyboard, too early in morning!
