Playing games on the cell phone just means they pretended it was working, like playing house. JMO

It would be a good idea to give all sex offenders in Evansdale a poly. The girls are worth the trouble. Again JMO.

Probably not actually. We always hand our smart phones down to the kids. We pay for actual service now and we all have iPhones, but before we were willing to pay for service, our daughter had one of our old phones with tons of games installed on it - it just didnt have active phone service. Even without a service plan, all phones can call 911.

But, some people can't afford iphones, and smart phones. Or have tons of games installed on it.

Could it be that the girls had met the person involved prior to this and the meet was pre-arranged between abductor and girls.maybe the girls were going to see his new puppy, kitten, bike etc?,they get to the meeting and theyre called of off the path by the abductor with some excuse...

Just ideas i know but theres really nothing else to go on..

Alright, it was just my opinion.

LOL mine too!
We all read thing differently!
This is why we have such great debates lol

My kids used to use our old cell phones too.

It was just the way they said she had the phone to play games on that made me think of games...She didnt say for pretend.
So my mind went to games!

Abductors Use 'Lures' to Trick Children

"In the eyes of a kid, a stranger is some character who's very scary and a monster type," said Wooden. In reality, though, molesters can look like ordinary, friendly, engaging adults, Wooden warned.

The 'Pet Lure'

As part of his research, Wooden studied the tactics that predators use to lure children. He identified 16 "lures" commonly used by child molesters and abductors.

I've been reading all you have been saying...but what my brain keeps going back to is why the Aunt who lives in Waterloo knew to look at the lake for the girls?

I believe there is a reason she knew they were there...(I am not accusing her) I just think she has a notion or thought as to why they went there maybe more than the parents...

Either exploring or meeting someone....

Just MY Opinion of Course

My thoughts, and not to argue, but since the lake is so close, maybe she just had a strong feeling that's where they would be found. Kids are drawn to water for some reason, and even if gramma says they had never gone to the lake on their own, that doesn't mean they absolutely didn't. Most of us would be surprised at the things our kids will do when we think they wouldn't.

Unfortunately I do not think these little girls are alive!

Speaking of septic tanks...scanner thread has an interesting call from early this morning, 3:11 AM. Also see related scanner post 8:20 AM.

Remember, can't post any info from scanner up here so be careful please!

Right now, I don't think it's matters which way they left on the path, which path, where the bikes were placed. What needs to be concentrated on is who did it.

Unless the how and the where and the why is a clue to the who.

the thing that bothers me most about this case is the fact that Granma states that the girls never traveled that far from home so it must be staged, yet the lake was the first place they looked. Why assume they were at the lake if they wouldn't go that far??? that has been a huge thorn in my side and until I get past that I can't assume this is a random abduction by a stranger.

Well, if we take what all family members say as the literal truth, then we get nowhere. Maybe Gramma THOUGHT they never went that far. Or maybe the idea that they did occasionally go that far was just too much to take in. She was expressing what was in her mind at that moment. Her thoughts may be completely different by now.
Some parents and grandparents even believe that if they tell the kids not to do something or go somewhere, that's enough, and the kids won't do it. Wrong thinking... many kids will do it thinking they can get away with it and many of them do... for awhile.
I think most of us with kids have been guilty of saying our kids would never do this or that and find out later they did.

Misty works in the Elk Run Heights branch of Casey's.

:what:

I wonder if she still works there? I know she had gone back to work last week, but what about this week?

I won't deny that someone might place something in a septic tank....and I also don't know how many posters are from Iowa, but typically the only way a home is on a septic system is if they are NOT plumbed into the city's system.....which typically applies to homes that are outside city limits.

IMO and FWIW- I would be shocked if the homes around the lake were on septic systems.
