Anyone want to takeover "downstairs" transcription...?

or more like to gaze into the abyss you have to think *like* the abyss.. not necessarily that you become it.

Nietsche sure had a way with words but not sure that thinking like a perp makes you one

:moo:

I agree; but it will sure put you on the edge of nutville...especially if your trying to figure it out on your own, until someone finally believes you.

I've never been a little girl, so I don't know. And it seems like a thousand centuries since I was 10 years old. Anyone have a guess, if the girls were trapped, would the leech infested water been an option for escape? From the before and after pictures, it doesn't look the bottom of the lake drops off drastically. Would wading into the water be an option?

I'm not suggesting that's what happened. But since it probably didn't happen, that might eliminate some scenarios, if the girls were willing to go into the water.

I think it would depend if the girls were use to bugs, worms, etc. It wouldn't have bothered me to have a leech. I would have been more afraid of stepping on something that would cut my foot...or grab it...like a crawdaddy did in SE IL..and wouldn't let go. Flip flops were required after that one. imo

Not trying to be snarky in any way, but I have heard this a few times and I just want to point out that the criteria that we use to determine the path to take and whether it makes sense for us to walk around so we dont get our nice shoes dirty, may not be the same criteria the perp would use. Or kids playing for that matter. I walk around puddles in the driveway, my kids don't always.

I completely understand what you are saying ... I assumed it wasn't passable at all. I thought it was thick brush and a rocky incline. Maybe kids would play there or someone seated to fish, but I thought, from descriptions, that it would be nearly impossible to walk with two little girls in tow. I didn't think they wouldn't go that way to avoid getting shoes dirty or get sticks in their hair.

Your explanation makes sense, but I have read other posts that made it sound like "oh that is icky, no one would go that way"

I was a tomboy. I wouldn't have thought twice about climbing through bushes and vines or getting covered in mud. I feel the same about people saying little girls wouldn't throw their bikes down ... only boys would do that. Girls would take the time to put down the kickstand. Not this girl here, I didn't even have a girl's bike.

I still don't think the perp was a complete stranger though. I still have a hard time thinking that if a stranger came at them, the girls wouldn't have screamed and/or wet themselves. I certainly would have done both ... I might do both now, tbh.

I'm with Otto on this. I suspect that perp could have grabbed Lizzy by the wrist while pulling her along and she dropped the purse and perp didn't even notice which is why it is on lake side of fence in weeds.

this is where I disagree. I think they were lured.. sweet talked if you will.. There were two of them. Get aggressive the other runs.

But what crazy perp even gets it in his or her head to lure two at the same time.

Then I think back to the Shawn Hornsbeck case and realize there are people that really do think like this.

(guess you were right about that abyss thing GD... cause I cannot see into it at all.. hoping an fbi profiler is able to!)

“We also encourage anyone who may have had a minor or perhaps unintentional part at the time in the disappearance of the girls to contact investigators through the local tip lines or their local police department,” Smock stated. “We encourage anyone who may have knowledge of the girl's whereabouts, regardless of their involvement, to contact investigators through the tip lines, so we may talk with them.”

A $50,000 reward remains through law enforcement for the safe return of the girls.

Call the local tip number at 232-6682, the Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers at (855) 300-TIPS (8477) or the FBI at (402) 493-8688.

I go back and forth between some things...

but, I think there was some kind of lure.

I'm wondering if they weren't offered a motorcycle ride? Or, a ride on an ATV. What about a horse? Nah, that probably wouldn't be a good get-away.

I think the reason that part was edited out is because it is awkward.. they seem to mean minor as in "small" not as in minor as in other minor child.

"minor or perhaps unintentional part"

that is very confusing and seems to even have caused some confusion here as well..

I think it was good that this was edited out.

Seems such odd wording to me ... as though they know something they haven't released to the public. I have never in all my years as a reporter, editor or newspaper reader seen a statement that speaks directly to someone "... who may have had a minor or perhaps unintentional part at the time in the disappearance of the girls ..." The second half of the statement is more along the lines of what I would expect to see.

All righty then...okee dokee smokee...uhhhh.

I thought that was a German Shepherd dog ... but perhaps I'm seeing things.

I had to take it up to 400% and search for a leash/lead. I can't remember when the first dogs were brought in. I want to say the evening of the 13th, but definitely could be wrong on that one.

BBM above, very interesting wording ...........

it is interesting wording.. and most likely they took it back for a reason.... like it sounded awkward...

It seems they want anyone to come forward no matter how small or insignificant they may think their information is.

  • #377
I cannot believe it has been 4 weeks already, :(

  • #378
The whole "regardless of involvment" statement makes me think they believe there was an acomplice, or they have info on what went down that day.

I wonder whose idea it was to take it out.

the editor? The PIO for LE after reading it? Just some thoughts..It was a very awkward statement for sure... or rather awkward wording imhoo. Had to be a reason it isn't up there any longer and why the tweets now just are saying to call with any tips.
