Here is Evansdale Police Chief Smock's clarification:

'He also clarified FBI spokeswoman Sandy Breault’s July 21 statement that “We believe the girls are alive.” Smock said investigators have no information to prove or disprove they are alive.'

Does anyone get the feeling that the FBI and local LE might not be seeing eye-to-eye on this investigation? I find it odd that local LE is clarifying a statement made by FBI. JMO.

Family members of the girls this week reached out to one of the nation’s most well-known advocates for missing children and crime fighters for help.

Misty Morrissey, Lyric’s mother and Heather’s sister, with the help of her sister Tammy Brousseau, sent a message to John Walsh, host of “America’s Most Wanted” on the Lifetime channel. Walsh’s only son, Adam, was kidnapped and murdered in 1981, and he dedicated his life toward bringing criminals to justice and finding missing children.

According to the message posted on Misty Morrissey’s Facebook account, she begged Walsh to “step in” and contact her.

“I am in my darkest hour and close to the edge!” the message said.

Yesterday someone mentioned the Wineville Chicken Coop murders so I went to Wikipedia to read up on them. Granted -- the case is nearly 100 years old -- but the similarities to this case freaked me out! Just odd coincidences, really:

-- One of the victim's last name was Collins!
-- The perp met Walter Collins at a local small town grocery
-- Luring kids with promises of pony rides
-- Rumors of human trafficking
-- A victim's mother who had a husband who was headed for a very long jail term
-- That same victim's mother was placed in a psych ward

So strange!

There was a movie made based on this true story..."The Changeling". It's worth watching, Clint Eastwood directed and Angelia Jolie starred in it.......

As of right now that makes sense to me.
You said the disappearance time could be narrowed down to between
12:15 and 1:30.........
What happened during that time?
As far as we know, there were no screams......
Who was there that didn't frighten the girls?

BBM. One thing that happened during that time is Grandma said she drove around looking for the girls between 12:30 - 1:30. Drew must have been home with the younger kids during that time too? So the girls were out of sight then or she just missed them.

Knowing that not everyone condemns her might just help her recover. You never know when an act of caring and kindness will reach someone and plant a seed that will grow into recovery. JMO

I pray that Misty hasn't given up hope that these girls will come home alive. I can tell you, as a mother, I completely understand why there are parents who either attempt or commit suicide following a child abduction or murder. I can't even imagine what these families go through.

Sometimes children are the only thing keeping those people here on earth while they battle their internal demons. Praying for God's grace on her to give her the strength to be here - and be healthy and strong for her daughter, should she return to her some day.

She has all the risk factors and behaviors for a subintentional suicide to occur. I don't understand why she has not been involuntarily committed unless there are not any psych bed openings in her area.

I think with the risk factors that hindsight is always 20/20. I don't think it has anything to do with no psych beds being open in the area...

She had been to the hospital earlier and went home... per the msm articles... and she obviously was not committed at that time.

Sad all around...

a local posted yesterday there are two available treatment centers in the area and cost is on a sliding scale; as low as $5 per day.
Treatment is available; as to why the family/Misty has not taken of advantage of this is a mystery.
I realize it is not our personal business, but based on the news reports and her personal note on fb, it appears she needs help. I hope she realizes there are places and people out there willing to help her.

They talked with the resident and checked in an old camping trailer in the backyard.

The entire article contains no direct quotes so could be reporter's viewpoint or impression based on comments by Wylma or, more likely, as with several family members I can think of, Wylma is regretting how very forthcoming she and others have been with the press and is now back pedaling on some of her statements regarding this incident.

The subject article also mentions that a "trained team" recently scoured a wooded area along Elk Run Creek. Does anybody know if there were search dogs on site? If there were, I wonder what their search specialty is.

I took that to mean two unmarked police cars trailing behind. But I think maybe I was wrong.

as to the UBM portion of your post I took that to mean accompanied by two passenger cars not that two nondescript passenger cars were towed there and delivered but rather that two unmarked/nondescript vehicles which may or may not have been unmarked LE cars accompanied the squad cars on this visit to the location.

That is how I took it anyhow, I could be very wrong but I do not thing the cars were being returned to the occupant as speculated in your post.
