Has anyone seen the movie, ' The Alphabet Killer'? It's based on true events from seperate child abduction cases. I watched, ' The Tall Man ' last night and I found it kinda boring and overly dramatized.

It is entirely possible that if this case is ever resolved, it could just be some crazy freak that nobody ever heard of suspected. Gah!!

I agree.

If the perp has a criminal record, I think it will not be for sex related charges. Probably something like burglary or theft, which would let him fly under the radar for something like this.

I'll go out on a limb. I think the perp either lived in Evansdale at one time or lived nearby. I think he has since moved but probably not more than 60 miles away.

I am in general the world's worst guesser, so the above is probably all wrong.

I just saw the weather for Iowa tomorrow in the area, says 60% chance of rain. Oh no.

I saw that too and I felt sad that he referred to her in past tense.

Actually he mixed his tenses. He initially says "was", but then goes on to describe how she's so full of life, present tense. My guess is sloppy reporting.

Where is Olipop? I miss his insightful comments.

Now if only we could have someone taking pics/video of you :floorlaugh:

True. Either sloppy reporting or sloppy talking. I think we have seen a lot of both in this case.

Edit: I miss Ollipop too. You can only talk about the same things over and over again for so long, so maybe he had to get on with his life like I should too.

Does anyone know what time Heather left home the morning of the abduction?

Your husband is going to hate me, but can you redo my fly-by videos from ground level at bike speed?

Also one I didnt do which is the Evansdale trail from the Fareway all the way down past the skate park.

Last one - can you go from grassy area and/or Maiden Lane entrance off of Arbutus and go east on Arbutus until you can turn right and go south under 380. This would be a car route and car speed (not bike)

If I am asking too much just do the best you can. It is nice to have someone there that can do anything.

Those are exactly the two routes that I would LOVE to see. Also, I really want to know how many surveillance cameras exist from the corner of River Forest Rd./Lafayette Rd. on down Lafayette Rd. to Evansdale Nature Trail.

Me too. I didn't read too much into it in terms of him knowing she's no longer alive, more just a slip since she's been gone so long. I was glad his next comment was about her being so full of life (present tense).

ETA: oops, I see this was already discussed. Note to self: remember to catch up first next time before posting.

JVM show on 8/17 from the transcripts, TB spoke is the past too!

Lyric lived in Waterloo and Elizabeth lived in Evansdale. It was a secluded area where the girls came up missing, you know. My thoughts just tend to continue to lean towards a pedophile; he got his opportunity.

BBM

Yes - this one actually worried me a lot more than Dan's use of "was" in court today. TB being on that show was only 3 days after they went missing and the search was on in full force with no reason to believe they were no longer alive. IIRC she pretty consistently used past tense.

Very very good point. I would like to know how many business or residential cameras can be spotted anywhere on any route. Cindersoot, you might have to talk to your husband and get an extended stay approved ;)

TB's quote also actually uses past tense to describe a geographical location that still exists. Speech analysis only works when you take in context of a person's normal speech patterns, which no one can do based off media interviews regardless of their claims. Most people do not speak correct English nowadays, and tend to be sloppy with use of tense quite a bit. So, taking a sentence or two from a media interview is pretty useless when we don't have a feeling for any of these people's normal speech patterns.
IMHO.

I agree with this. For a while people were picking apart G'mas word and phrases and the plain truth is this is how these people talk. If we saw how they write, it would probably support the theory that they are not well educated and speak the way they learned how to speak from their parents and neighbors. They probably even use the word "irregardless". ;) I know the folks here in Minnesota speak the same way.

IIRC the family had already searched much of the town before Aunt T said go to the lake. We also now know per aunt t that Elizabeth had been to the lake before with neighbor girls. I don't believe she had a job.

Corrections welcome.

True, but the family had ALREADY been out to the lake when they searched the town earlier. It is in the list of places that Grandma searched from 12:30 until an hour or so later.

Then grandma picks up Aunt T and then the very first place they go, because of aunt T's ' gut feeling' is the lake.

And the first random person the aunt asks has seen the girls on their bikes 15 minutes earlier. Which is why they stayed there and called LE to meet at the lake.

I am sorry, but I am still having trouble getting past all of that. I want to know who that random witness was that convinced Aunt T to stay there instead of going to the skatepark or the school ground.

When my DD was that age, she rode her bikes with friends, and they always wanted to be where other kids [ boys] were riding also. So it seemed so weird that Aunt T had a gut feeling to go first where it is so remote and deserted to look for the girls.

I think, when you add this together with the lawn waterer guy, who claimed he recognized Elizabeth because she rode by his house often and chatted with people, that there was someone or something that was attracting her to this particular area of town often, and I think Aunt T probably knew or guessed that.

Here are my two theories:

A. The bikes were staged and the girls were abducted elsewhere

B. the girls were abducted for the lake where their bikes were found

Good point. And how many of us here have accidentally used past tense even when we're posting? I know I've tried not to, but I'm sure I've done it.
