Here is the Link TO Gramma WC saying she went to Myers Lake at 12:30,

Notice she also NEVER mentions seeing them at 12:15....

I wonder if they were yelling there names out the window to see if they answered...

bbm: the 1215 was cctv/verified by cctv

The most important thing here is that LE SAYS that grandma was the last to see them at 1215.

So, no matter what she has said to the media LE must know what they are talking about.

As for when she left to go drive around the lake to look: are we sleuthing this angle to show how narrowly she missed seeing her grandkids be abducted? (it is a horrifying thought) I bet she has nightmares thinking about how close she was to them when they were abducted.

Oh, YES! YES! Only how narrow a time line of when the girls were last seen!!!

And that the girl must have been off the streets and probably already abducted, at this time for both HC and WC not to find them in that much time...

No Sleuthing or Bashing at all!!!!

BBM
that is what I would like to know, where did Gma exactly look at that time?
I'm thinking Not the Lake, she said they never went that far...TB was the one who said to go to the Lake.
Probably was too late by then when TB suggested to look there.

I agree with you.

If I were Grandma Cook, believing that the girls would not go more than 2-3 blocks away, I'd start out at the Collins house and spiral out from there in my vehicle. Probably stopping every other block or so to holler for the girls. And wondering the whole time if they may not have gone into a friend's house for a quick visit, then forgotten the time.

I'd keep going back to the Collins house to check on whether the girls had shown up yet.

So in an hour's time, I wouldn't cover all that much ground. Maybe halfway to Meyer's Lake, if that.

She did go to Myers Lake

The Horrible thing is her and HC were driving around right after 12:30-about 2:00 and didn't see them their hearts must have been breaking!!!

They had last been seen of CCTV at 12:23,

But it is like a poster said, It is hard to find a moving target.

However it is also possible that they were already abducted by then, and that would mean they may have been abducted on their way to Myers lake right after being seen on CCTV.

Why does LE keep mentioning a boat? That keeps stumping me.

General warning: this is a gruesome thought, so skip this post if such things bother you.

If the perp didn't have a van or a truck but did have a boat mounted on a tow vehicle, a convenient way to transport two bodies would be to place them in the boat and drive them to wherever the perp placed the bodies.

Shades of Scott Peterson.

Would you think he/she/they would have used the Cedar River?

It's very true about the moving target thing. I remember when I would go shopping with my first husband (who had ADD), he'd go straying off to look at something that caught his interest without saying a word to me. All of a sudden, I'd realise he wasn't there and I'd have to go looking for him. Even in a relatively small store, we'd waste ridiculous amounts of time on looking. It used to drive me crazy and I got to where I hated going shopping with him. It was like shopping with a three year old. Unfortunately, he liked shopping.

I don't have a link for it, but didn't Grandma Cook leave about 1:30 pm to go pick up Aunt TB? I'm sure Grandma Cook assumed the girls would show up at the Collins house at any second.

Again, I don't have a link for it but I think Heather Collins didn't join the search until 2 pm, after she was done with her medical appointment.

Right. So, the girls could have met the boater at Elmer at about 12:30 (maybe they were at the little park area) Met the "boater" who told them to go meet him at the other side of the lake...they biked around to the other side of the lake, he took them into the woods immobilized them or worse, put them into his boat , which ferried them back over to Elmer and away in a vehicle towing a boat This could easily have happened between 1 and 2. Telling them to leave the cell phone and purse. Transporting them across the water...explains scent trail to some degree..or lack thereof. MOO

ETA: He may have told them to meet him at the other side, because he needed to unload the boat from a trailer for example..meanwhile they were biking to the other side.

I wonder if anyone who lived on those roads was having any construction done on their house such as a new roof or house being painted or remodeling going on. Some of those companies will hire anybody off the street and when we had a lot of roofers here a few years ago some of the workers would try to have a conversation with anyone who passed by. A lot of the workers came in their own vehicles. Just a thought.

I put this map together with the latest sightings... I am trying to draw a shape around the area of interest (arbitus and Gilbert) but my internet is acting up (and I already smacked the little mifi box once so I will go back and try in a bit.

Would you think he/she/they would have used the Cedar River?

Warning: gruesome speculation ahead

The Cedar River isn't all that deep and it was even lower this year due to the drought. I don't think the girls went into the river or they would have been found by now.

On the other hand, there was a case from 2006 that involved a woman who had been missing since 1983, Lois Tomich. Her body was found in a barrel in a pond in Pottawattamie County; it was a drought summer and the pond had dried up, exposing the barrel. Her ex-husband was the only suspect and he committed suicide the day after the news of the finding was broadcast (even before her body was identified).

http://www.wowt.com/home/headlines/4664696.html

That story was big news at the time.

If the girls were placed in a barrel or barrels, I wouldn't look at rivers so much as I would look at various lakes, ponds and reservoirs.

If there was any "overlap" of time w/ Gma looking and the girls being kidnapped, I wonder if they saw anything strange?

Maybe there is a camera right around where Elmer meets the bike trail and the lake. Maybe a camera caught a vehicle arriving and departing that area. Wonder if there is a boat ramp nearby.

this is a very good theory, a person with a boat would not create any suspicion being there, sick thought as to how "easy" someone could pull this off!

Regarding the river. I was looking at maps the other day to see where the girls could have been taken easily if someone knew the area. There is a road, McCoy rd, which goes directly from E'dale to a remote, creepy area by the river. It is a straight shot down. There appears to be some sort of pond (greenish) on the satellite shots. That area looks like it has pretty good river access. MOO

Here is what I'm talking about. It intersects with Gilbert and goes straight south to the river.

Time line?

12:15 riding away from Collin's residence

12:23 on Brovan Blvd

12:30-1:00 on Gilbert Drive near Meyrs Lake

2 pm -- bikes found at lake (per DCi press release)

3:58 -- bikes found at lake (per Abben during press conference)

Excellent! Time line is tightening up! Thak you Jax49!

After staring at the map for hours yesterday, right off of Elmer on Ellendale, there's a landscape tree business that could have picked up the girls on Elmer possibly. Not DC's business, btw.

okay here we go... (shape added)

Thanks nurse.

I still question the statement that the bikes were found at 2 pm. For several reasons, including Abben saying they were found at 3:58 and peeps who were listening to the scanner report the same time.
