Just for reference, the location in Seven Bridges is about 22 miles from Meyers Lake.

Thanks Sweetpea..yes, it's been harvested. Great place for hunting here in NC as well. Just remembered about the burning and turning the earth after harvest, and thought a good way to destroy evidence. I'm sure they are searching any and all roads leading into the area, but more closely the less traveled access road, since the girls were near the river.

Has there been as much rain as usual there? Is there a season that often floods the banks? If the bridges are washed out..
This summer there was a major dought for most of the season. But later in the summer there was enough rain for the grass to turn green again. This fall, I don't recall there being a great amount of rain. Certainly none out of the ordinary.

Spring is the season that you would expect flooding in Eastern Iowa.

God rest your souls. May you have justice.

Otto has posted some aerial photos of the area. I'm thinking that the fields are as close as LE is allowing anyone else to the area. In some photos you can see the woods in the background behind the fields.

270 Street is a dead end road because the bridge is gone. A bend in the river is mentioned, so they were probably found in the area that I've enlarged.

Some are wondering why they are searching the ditches and all I can say is that its possible that the bodies found might show an indication of gun shot wounds and LE may be looking in the ditches for such a weapon or evidence. This situation is so sad for the families and the entire community. My heart is breaking!

we have been under pretty much drought conditions since summertime...rivers are all at a low point and have been for quite some time

after seeing the picture,
they were together but yet farther away from each other
than I pictured in my mind.

I thought the same Passionflower..I wonder if the person thought they would wash away, but not enough rain came. It's dry here as well..creeks are low. But if there is a history of flooding, washing out, maybe that's why no effort appears to have been made to bury/hide/secret the girls.

Me too, passionflower. I had pictured them close together and even with arms around each other....wishful thinking, I know, but somehow that gave a little comfort to me.

hmm... in one of the bends of the river... have divers been mentioned today?

  • #993
I am not even sure words can express what I feel right now so I am focusing on details-nice, removed details.
I also would have expected the girls to be closer, but maybe if someone was just dumping them as fast as possible one could have rolled down a bit or something? Who knows.

I still don't entirely get revenge killing out of this. I hope they have a suspect and this was the last thing they needed before they could arrest him or her.

I don't get how anything human could do something like this. I know-psychopaths, sociopaths, etc, but I don't get it on a deeper level.

No but someone mentioned hearing a reference to divers on a local live report last night IIRC

It's totally different than I was picturing it. Certainly confirms they were not in an easily accessible area. I definitely believe it had to be someone familiar with the area that would know they would not be found for a while and thinking all his/their dirty little secrets would be washed away. I agree that the girls still have a story to tell.

That photo of those two little sheets is just heartbreaking.

Another indication of more than one perp, IMO.

I wonder if the girls went willingly with them, were guided apart, then executed at the same time, for want of a better word, and just left where they fell.

Not even near each other. :(

So, so sad.

Given the bodies appear to have been discovered on a sloped area, and I Doubt the perp cared if the girls were placed lovingly near to one another, although it would have been stangely comforting to some of us. I think it likely one rolled, or was dragged further from her cousin by animal activity.

Me three....

Based on where the white sheets are I wonder if one of the girls tried to run after seeing the first one killed.

So incredibly sad.....

:furious:

Thank goodness we had a drought- if it had been a normal year, the girls probably wouldn't have been found.

Along time ago I said I would choose to see the girls in all the beautiful things around me. Over the summer I would always think of them when the hummingbirds would stop and flutter by, today I saw them when a very sprite wren began chirping at me. The girls are everywhere, just look around.
