Would LE question the hunters to rule them out as suspects?

Probably. The person that finds a body is usually questioned pretty hard. Depending on the circumstances, they might publicly rule them out, they might not.

MOO if the girls were identifiable bcause of a lack of decomp and they ere still recognizable, there would be no need to wait for official ME confiration on aID. There would also be no need for the statement that they were confident because bodies were female, small in stature and no other girls missing in the area (papaphrasing, dont recall exact quote)

IIRC, there were some cases of missing people found within days or weeks, and they still had to wait for an official ID from the ME before saying it was positively some person. Why? Because, strangely enough, LE is not authorized to make positive IDs of dead bodies. It has to be officially confirmed by other means, either by family ID, or by DNA or dental records.

I am just waiting to hear from LE, that's all. I don't think that the leap that the JVM show made about the idea that they were likely to have been refrigerated, is one that should be given any weight at this time. And again, JMO. I have trouble with any info coming directly from JVM or NG shows.

I hear ya!! JVM can have some pretty bizarre notions that seem to come out of nowhere. A forensic scientist she is NOT!

Those are great questions, Otto. I am sure if we knew all the details in the case we could tell you where and when it happened. IMOO, I admit I am not a expert sleuther such as you, but, I am just trying to look at other angles. An accident could occur in a split second. A child on foot who is hit by an adult on a bicycle can be fatally injured without outward signs. I have seen very similar cases in health care. The girls were on a bike path at some point. The visibility on the bike path wasn't great. An adult riding a bike or driving, listening to an IPod, thinking about work, spacing out could easily not be able to avoid an accident. Children dart out in front of all types of vehicles rather frequently. They also were on a road. Kids often leave their bikes somewhere and explore. In children that age they can wander fast and far in a short amount of time. While I agree the time line is very close, accidents can happen in seconds. If someone hit one of the girls, maybe an attempt was made to go to a hospital. If one died in the vehicle, someone could easily panic and the situation could get out of control. If you have a better theory, please advise, I am a novice here.

While your theory is very possible, what are the chances of hitting two kids at the same time? I still have a problem with a normal person either not seeking medical attention, or panicking if one died before getting to the hospital. But then... I think of the young woman who hit a grown man with her car, impaling him in her windshield and driving on to her house and into her garage... while he was still alive. She did not call 911, she let the poor man die which took several hours. This was a few years ago, and it still haunts me.
So... just about the time you think you've heard of everything... here comes some other bizarre story. Makes you wonder, what has happened to the human race these days? Doesn't anybody have any sense of decency anymore?

Which seat do you choose? Among all the comfortable chairs in this house, which one is the right one to support me as I open and read the Medical Examiner’s autopsy report for our slain daughter, Morgan Dana Harrington?

I don't think that under any circumstances would they have the family identify the bodies. That would just be too cruel. From what ive heard and read, they were identified by sight and clothing (shoes?l and there isn't anyone else missing who fits the description. Even if they are 95% sure, they will wait for possitive id.

Wondering who/what is the connection between evansdale and this park. I'm convinced that the girls knew who took them. So is the family and friends focus on who they know that's familiar with the area.....

This was BBM because I believe that if it was a 'party place'............
someone was very FAMILIAR with the place! Since parents were
into the drug scene once they may have been there with many people.
Maybe the same people dad told on???

JVM might of read my post back a few pages, when I wondered if they had been kept by refrigeration, then when things died down, the perp(s) dumped them? Wanting the wild winter to get to them OR be found by hunters?

Snipped

He [Black Hawk County Sheriff Tony Thompson] said the development gives authorities the ability to “draw conclusions off what we already know, and some of the people we already talked to and likely open up additional avenues for us to pursue. That’s fantastic, because we were chasing down leads that were a lot of times ended up being vaporous for us. Now we're are able to commit a concerted effort in a single direction.”

Snipped

"...We’re finally at a position where we’ve got some tangible evidence, some credible evidence that we can move on,” Thompson said.

That's the conscensus of most people around here. That is has something to do with lyrics parents, drugs etc. The oelwein area is known as a hotspot for method users and this park isn not that far.

Would LE question the hunters to rule them out as suspects?

Yes. That's routine for anyone who finds a body.

It would probably be fairly easy to rule them out, since the initial crime took place during normal business hours on a Friday.

If that is the local gossip or feeling, I can why there would be tension between the two families.

I sincerely hope LE has leads they are following, and that there will be justice (if we can call it that..) soon. Parents in the area must be worried this will be repeated. I feel if LE didn't have some info, someone in mind, they wouldn't be a tight-lipped. I hope this is so..

Thank you for joining in our discussions and trying to put the puzzle pieces together! We are a great group and even greater now that you have joined us! :great: Every opinion is important; whether we all agree or agree to disagree :)
Again, welcome! :party::fireworks:

I think that a lot of LE agencies still remember the Whitney Cerak and Laura van Ryn mixup and want to be absolutely sure not to participate in anything that might resemble a repeat of that.

A quick summary: Whitney and Laura were teammates travelling by van. They somewhat resembled each other and after the van crashed, Laura was dead at the scene and Whitney was in a coma. Somehow, Whitney's ID was found with Laura's body and Whitney was initially identified as Laura in the hospital.

It wasn't until Whitney came out of her coma 5 weeks later that the mistake was revealed.

It was an honest mistake but it caused incredible grief for the families involved. I know it caused a lot of stir here in Iowa when the Des Moines Register did some investigating and discovered that with the protocols then in place, such a mistake could happen here.

After what the bicyclist T.G. went through just because he claimed he swerved to avoid the girls' bikes, I hope the names of these two hunters are never released to the public. JMO

Can someone direct me to anyone other than Jon Lieberman who has stated that the site where the girls were found was just a dump site?

Thanks.

Probably consider it local gossip. I don't know the family personally. And I'm also assuming that there is tension because of it. But I would like to add in their defense, I personally would not put any blame on the family for events of that day. Grandma was watching them when they disappeared. Could happen to anyone, regardless if itwas planned or random. But I don't think it was random.
