I wonder why the perp would place them a distance apart? I would think that would make them 2x more likely to be found. Putting them together, one would have to stumble upon the one site. Not have 2 sites to stumble upon. Weird.

Perhaps. Placing them together would require a deeper dig. Separate placement supports the theory of two perps. Two perps, in a hurry, shallow burial ...

I still really like the the theory proposed by another member earlier today. Bodies on back of ATV. I then speculated they were rolled off atop an incliine and came to rest where they did. Thats still my working theory.

(For now, tomorrow who the heck knows.)

Did LE say the girls had been buried?

I can't imagine the perp(s) taking the time to do this.

imo

WATERLOO, Iowa -- The National Weather Service on Saturday issued a hazardous weather outlook for northern Iowa, including the counties of Black Hawk, Butler, Bremer, Grundy and Hardin.

God brought the hunters to the rescue, it was time to bring the girls home. jmo

I concur. To me, it looks like the clear area next to the river is higher ground than where they were found.

He's hiding them in a very remote location, in the tall grass ... hoping that they will not be found. Apparently, it seemed better to hide them as he did rather than side by side ... that is, they may have been discovered more easily if they were side by side. As it is, it was a fluke that they were even found.

No, not to my knowledge. I don't think that has been said by anyone in any official capacity. It's just speculation.

OMG, it's so horrifying. TL, do you mean the bodies were concealed in another vehicle carrying the ATV and then the bodies placed on the back of the ATV. TIA

In the blown up picture Otto posted, ty btw, I see distinctive narrower white sheet edgings facing opposite directions. I saw it as the head portion. If true and it was of the actual bodies under the white sheets, the two faced off two murderers, possibly one with each girl & possibly a gun on each perp to do this. I don't know if where the police are standing between the two sheets would dirty up where one perp would shoot both from there. If they were shot. Just throwing stuff out there based on what little we know. jmo

(sorry, that is hard to write but that was my take on noticing the more pointed sheet ends)

LE hasn't said anything at all - we're all speculating on how the two bodies came to be where they were found and how it appears they were so readily identifiable. One speculation was that they may have been buried in shallow graves.

They could be body bags. They are a bit triangulated at one end, and they don't look flat. I wouldn't draw any conclusions about the orientation of the bodies.

Could the speculation about "body dump" be based on the orientation of the bodies ... both lying in what might be a bit of a ditch, or depression in the tall grass ... unlikely position for them to be lying unless they were placed there. They could have been placed there on July 13.

BBM.

That's what I was trying to say exactly. But, I thought the white coverings were placed there after the bodies were removed, so... I don't know.

Just imo, but I'm not so sure the perp did not want the girls to be found. There are so many remote areas to dispose of bodies where people absolutely would not want to go for any reason, so why a place where people do go, especially hunters, who cover vast areas on foot and ATV's over all types of terrain.

My feeling is that the perp(s) didn't care whether the bodies were found or not. JMO. That fits in with my theory that the abduction/murder of these two little girls was a means to an end, not necessarily sexual in nature. Once the desired end was achieved, I feel the perp(s) didn't care one way or the other what happened.

This is based on nothing said by LE, or in MSM, or even (heaven forbid) stated on NG or JVM. Just my opinion and subject to change without notice!

If the girls were buried, shallow or not, the hunters probably wouldn't have seen them. There would be a lot of growth since July.

7 Bridges had been a full-fledged park at one time but county officials ceased maintaining it several years ago.
“It’s not really a park anymore, more of a hunting access,” Riley said (Neighbor). “Usually pretty quiet
Other residents said it is popular for fishing, mushroom hunting and underage beer parties.

The park has been used to dispose of evidence in the past. In November 2007, Martaves Keys went to the park to get rid of the gun he used to kill Anissa Schroeder and Ronald Scullark in Waterloo and burn his bloody clothing. A search diver recovered the weapon from the Wapsipinicon River after a witness came forward.

... the odds of finding missing persons’ remains — or evidence of other crimes — increase during the shotgun deer season, when more than 70,000 hunters comb through remote woods and fields. More Iowans are afield during the two shotgun deer seasons (Dec. 1-5 and Dec. 8-16) than at any other time of the year.

It seems that this was once a park that had lots of activity, including children's activities. Three or four of the bridges collapsed and the facilities were shut down. The road became a dead end, and few people used the park. Hunters might park the car near that part of the trail, but they would have to be local. Readlyn high school parties was also mentioned.

Police must be looking for someone that lives somewhere between Evansdale and north of Readlyn, or west of Readlyn ... knows the backroads ... grew up in the area. I hope this guy is caught before it happens again. This person was free to do whatever from noon on Friday, July 13, 2012. Some people must work 4 day weeks. Construction road crews that are holding up a highway would not be free on Friday afternoon. Methheads wouldn't wait for Friday afternoon and wouldn't take two if they only wanted one. I think this is someone different ... not an Austin Sigg, but someone like him that got away with it once, or got away with something before. Are there any dead animal histories in Evansdale - like the severed cat that was left for the neighbors behind their house? There has to be something that came before this, and it seems very clear that this person lives in the area.

Thanks for this info. I know many of us felt all along that the girls would be found during hunting season. I'm grateful to the hunters who found their remains/bodies, and I hope LE can provide answers to Lyric and Lizzie's families that will help them begin to rebuild their lives.

Glad the hunters had a good eye and found them. The picture up close really shows how much steeper the crime scene taped-off area is from the trail.
